I do agree that Chribba is one of the good-doers around here. Joining Otherworld Empire might be a challenge, though. (As it's a one-man alliance.)
CVA are good guys on a traditional "bad pirates are bad" viewpoint (assuming the antipirates are good as the opposite of bad). Naturally, they RP zealous expansionist slavers (hence being a paragon of all good according to the Amarr faith). There are also other antipirate corps/alliances around, though I am not aware of any of them being as visible or holding 0.0 space. (IAC used to be NRDS when they're not at war, but that's a year ago at least, I'd guess.)
And then again, everything indeed depends on the perception. The people on your side (or more commonly, the people on whose side you are) are the good guys as long as you're winning. (If you're loosing, it's just waiting on who's going to jump boat first, and if you're crushed, it's left for the victor to write the history.)

There are no such things.
Good and evil are primitive concepts and have no place in nature. They are barbaric constructs to rationalize and justifiable doing shitty things such as tapping a pen excessively out of boredom or ethnically cleansing Europe and the Americas for some desert war god.

Edited by: Yzen Mors on 30/09/2008 19:43:24 lol - now were getting into a philosopical debate.
Personally, I'm against the idea that there is no good or evil. Without a firm set standard of "what is true" people are left without anything to turn to for a place to root themselves... other than the flavor of the month, the fad of the year, and it fosters the base natures of man which, as eve proves, are inheriently evil.
Anyone who says having a belief system that relies on good and evil is barbarian is being quite ethnocentric and should consider reading the "Parable of the Madman"http://www.cs.rice.edu/~ssiyer/minstrels/poems/953.html

0.0 farmers are the good guys! We till the soil and harvest the crops which allow you city slickers to live a life of leisure and officer fitted mission grinding luxury.
We give bored PvPers easy kills and a reason to keep roaming day after day. Without us they'd have moved on to other games and stopped selling you GTCs ages ago.

Theres no archetypal "good guys" in eve. One mans hero is another mans villain. The same goes for alliances and corporations.

The "carebears" are the good guys, the naive new players with dreams of being nice, sweet, helpful, and generally making eve a friendly place to be around.
However, playing "honorable" in eve is kinda like going into gun fight with a knife. Most people will play to the lowest common denominator and that's it.
Most carebears abandon lofty ideals at some point and conform to the realities of eve, others quit.
There is a remnant of dreamers who bide their time in the shadows. Waiting for the day when enough carebears join up so that they can leave empire space in a rainbow cloud ship and establish the kingdom of "care-a-lot"... Most likely somewhere in the North, right between Beastly's outhouse in the east and No Heart's Cloud Palace in the Delve. XD
If your looking to join the "good" guys, I'd suggest the northern alliance since they seem the most in need of support. At least it would help to balance the three power blocks.
We call that 0.0 rainbow carebear space CVA space. I've seen a Mark 5 autopiloting to a gate in CVA 0.0 space before and people going through the gate around him FFS.

No, no. Not at all.
The money will go into research towards creating advanced and highly automated Damsel factories. Deliver the goods, but let the poor pirates have their fun as well. Discretion and unmarked deliveries assured!

Originally by: EglantinFinfleur Edited by: EglantinFinfleur on 30/09/2008 18:14:38 Welcome to the modern world of absolute relativism, in which nobody takes a stand for anything, except sometimes for one's buddies in the sustained hope that they will care about you too in the future. Since there's no moral authority in EvE -i.e. no far-reaching npc/playerbase managed faction that would hunt down gankers and scum-, and since there is absolutely no incentive to bust gatecamps, protect people, prevent villainous characters to pursue their villainous deeds, everybody just minds their own business, often collective if there is a bit of greed or need for engagements. Collective vigilantism is out of the equation, as there is no worthwhile rewards for it.
I would also surmise that the potential 'good guys' don't have the common sheep mentality that you can see in 0.0. They won't join the pyramid schemes going on in that part of the EvE galaxy, so they don't meet and greet and form new corps. There are some in lowsec i think. The Parrot Shoppe comes to mind. Ask them about their vigilante endeavors though. They came to the conclusion that policing lowsec only encourages freebooters to come do business, without participating in the policing -which bears no rewards, this should always be reminded-.
The rest are in highsec running missions alone, or in laidback corps. They don't go in 0.0 for aforementioned reasons, and they don't go in lowsec, because gankers huddle in 10ish gangs -one bait at gate, 9 docked fapping/eating hotpockets, ready to undock when called on voice coms-, and won't engage if you have equal or superior numbers.
Did i mention there's no incentive at all to police spacelanes?
I've long supported the idea of giving players more incentive to hunt pirates. Transferable kill rights would be a good start, and also a serious rewrite of the bounty system. Would be a pure win/win situation for Eve, even for the pirates.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Also, goons are at least 100% stupider than /b/tards as well as having less lulz. This is not part of my sig. |
