Rule# 1 : Always, always keep a copy of EVE's full install just in case you need to do a full re-install. Saves you the long download when several thousands players simultaneously jam the bandwidth trying to do the same thing.
Rule# 2 : Always, always keep a copy of EVE's manual patch file updates to bring the above full install to the most current version.
Rule# 3 : Always, always keep a backup your client settings so that you don't have to spend a few painful hours re-configuring your windows, overview and station container locks.
Made the mistake of manually updating to 64130 before the server was up and that pretty much screwed the login when CCP decided to go to 64311 due to a problem. Automatic update wasn't working and the manual patch download wasn't ready. My option was to either wait until CCP finishes packaging the manual patch or re-install from scratch.
Bit the bullet, spent around 40 mins re-installing, manual patched to the last current version 58188, which was then patched again to 64311. Logged in, configured a few machine settings and logged out. Copied back the client settings, logged back in. Everything seems to be in order at a glance. I'm happy camper

the queue iz frozen -> nobody who gets the queue message will be able to login until they fix it or give up and kill that particular load balancing machine. Restarting your client won't help, using a backup internet connection with a diffrent internet ip might ... ----------------- aspiring carebear |

as reported, seeing long queue times...
worse yet, get the password wrong (caps lock doh!) and you go back into the queue, only get one try, 1100 to zero, then back to 1152, omg sucks to be me.
<insert your noob flame bait here>
Doesn't seem well thought out, should get a another try at least...

The login queue problem should be solved now.
We had problems with our Load Balancer causing too many connections going to one specific proxy, and to fix the issue we had to kill that process in order for people not getting stuck in a login queue.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this.

Edited by: Claire Voyant on 30/09/2008 19:53:22 I've tried 5 times to log in this character, but lost connection each time while loading. I can load my alts just fine. I tried to file a petition, but I was told my quota of "stuck character" petitions had been exceeded and I needed to remove some. When I clicked on "My Petitions" I found no open petitions. Catch 22?
Update: Submitting a petition from "My Petitions" worked, but not from "Create New Petition"

Is there something going on with security status? My corp mate and I are ratting to improve our sec status and no matter how many battleships we kill, our sec doesn't change, at all.
Also, did the skill Fast Talk change? Looks like it's saying 5% bonus to standings increase.. doesn't say per level or anything.. Not that it matters right now, because we can't improve our standings at all..

Thanks for reporting this. This feature is however not officially supported in the Cedega client and we do not officially support Wine.

Will there be an additional patch to the Mac client soon to fix this?
While testing the new update which would have resolved this issue, we discovered a more serious issue which prevented us from releasing the update. We're hoping to have it solved shortly.

Why did you screw up th "Accept quote" window?
After the "patch" the "Accept quote" window in science and manufactoring now has a fixed unchangeable size with the top 25% consisting of the list of materials (with a scroolbar), about 40% of nothing in the middle, and about 35% in the bottom with the jobstats.
CCP, whats the empty 40% part in the middle for?

Seems no one wants to answer my question concerning the ice mining lasers in the premium graphics......3 patches ago they got turned to the ore mining red and sounds were fubarred....got the ore mining sounds back on last patch and was told this patch the ice lasers would be put back to the fat blue beams from regular graphics with the right ice mining sounds....seems we got forgotten again...I would really like to use the premium graphics on the game but i am an ice miner and refuse to mine ice with ore graphics and sounds.....so i stay with regular graphics..... What is the problem with fixing the beams and why doesnt anyone answer me.... this is the second time i have asked..... ty

Managed to get in for a moment after the servers were up to switch off a fairly long-running skill to start a new Rank 6, went out, came back shortly before it was time to start on the next level of it, and suddenly started regretting ever bothering to change skills as I was greeted by the dreaded queue. When server status changed to Unknown, though, I ended up restarting the client and getting right online at that point. Only lost about 15 minutes of training, thankfully. I've lost worse before.. (everyone's probably lost about a night's-worth of training time at least once).
Still, would be nice if the patching process would actually be more organized. With enough testing and checking before patch deployment, I figure it wouldn't be too much to ask? From the sounds of things, there's a poor track record with patch deployment organization; maybe some effort should be made to organize the process better to try and counteract this reputation?

Have you filed a bug report for this issue?

has auto pilot been screwed over for pathing purposes in blackrise/citidel?
basically, go to aldranette plot a course to ishomilken, watch as it takes you via a highway that does not exist. kinda hoping someone else can confirm this, effected both myself and my house mate tonight, weird and kinda funny.
dont think ive grabed a set of maps as quick in a while ;)
not sure if this goes beyond blackrise, or if its even a wide spread thing.

Security status is not updated per NPC you blow up, it is batched much like the bounties in your wallet. If the problem persists please file a bug report here. ------------------

Hi,
Since the patch, everytime one of my buddies that is listed in my address book logs on or off, I get about 1-2 'freeze' of the client.
This only started happening since the new patch today.
Anyone else getting it?

Edited by: Arrs Grazznic on 30/09/2008 21:48:48 Latest patch is incompatible with EVE Launcher 1.0.4.
For some reason a client launched via EVE Launcher can't connect to the game server. You see a status of 'unknown' and get a connection failed (the socket was closed) error popup when trying to connect. The same client works fine if launched independently.
Bit of a pain for me as I have a 2 monitor setup and I like to surf, etc. while playing.
Edit: I take that back. Running the client stand alone doesn't work either. I get the same socket closed error.
Cheers, Arrs

Phantom jumps have appeared on the map that do not correspond to actual stargates, e.g. Aldranette <-> Manjonakko is shown as an inter-region jump on the map, but no such gates are listed as appearing in those systems.
Others have reported missing jumps, but I don't have any that I can confirm offhand. --- DIY copying in Liekuri 20:1 mineral compression Eve Online folding@home team |
