Originally by: Sidias Are the large alliances of EvE killing the game ? You can't knock what these alliances have done, grouped together with other corps/alliances and created something remarkable. Combining players from many different locations around the world, working together and creating something that very few others can compete against but is this killing the game ?
I mean take the BoB campaign at the moment. They currently own Delve and Querious, with some control over Fade, Pure Blind, Deklein and now Vale. As far as I know they are assualting Morsus Mihi in Tribute. Now from what I hear most of the regions they control are pratically empty.
Now I know this game is 90% PvP but are alliances like BoB with their thousands of people in their coalition stopping smaller upcoming alliances from doing anything in EvE ? It's great being rich in EvE and having isk is always a good thing but surely if the 0.0 space was split up into smaller alliances then this would be more fun as more PvP would be found ?
I don't disagree what BoB are acheiving at the moment as the NC was probably the biggest NAPFest in the game so hopefully once this is broken up BoB will perhaps head south and destroy the other NAPFest down there but having them control so much space that is 90% of the time empty does not seem like a very good thing for EvE as far as I am concerned. Will they break up their coalition once they are done as they will be the largest NAPFest once they break up the other ones ?
I suppose we can look at what does 0.0 offer then
High End Moon Mining High End Asteroid Mining High End Plexes High End Ratting
Ok so moon mining is pretty much all taken up. But what about the Asteroid Mining, Plexes and ratting ? Surely these large alliances are not using all of these resources, so most of them all are all going to waste. If less space was controlled by more alliances then I think EvE would be a richer place for all, not just the leaders of these super alliances. I would think that as a player of this game that you would want the game to thrive and have more players playing, but if things continue the way they are most players will have little interest in high sec and low sec and leave the game.
I suppose its up to the individual players in these super alliances to starting thinking exactly what they are doing to their game. Sure we all like to be on the winning side but if everyone does this then there will be very few things for you to do.
If there were more alliances with less players you can even imagine that lag would be more manageable. Smaller alliances mean less people to battle with so fleet fights in 0.0 would be easier to manage, although there is always the odd corps and alliances that want to blob cause they know they can win by using this method. Fighting with skill and decent pilots is not enough for some and they will always want to destroy the opposition so I suppose my point is quite mute as smaller alliances will just group together to create bigger coalitions. But its the players like this that is causing the lag and the issues with Blob warfare in EvE.
I know this sounds like a bit of a rant but I just feel strongly about the way EvE is heading. I have been playing this game for 5+ years, yes this is not my main character, and have pretty much been involved in every aspect of this game so I have a decent amount of knowledge of EvE.
I am interested in hearing players views on this rather than smack talk, but this is CAOD so I expect some crappy posts.
Heres a crappy post, stop posting..
