I've been playing Eve for about 4 months. I love the lore of Eve and I like getting into the lore of the games I play. So last week I finaly decided to join a fairly large corp with a large alliance. As with most corps I was required to download ventrilo. Anyway I joined a pvp op and logged onto vent and all I heard was high-pitch voices and whiny nerds.......this absolutely broke the roleplaying aspect of Eve. So CCP I will pay $15 a month if I'm able to play a singleplayer Eve universe with NPC, mission, computer generated market, but I'm sorry I can't play this awsome game with such sub-par ppl. Your game is the best game I ever played but like everything else ppl ruin the experience. Till then I'll be playing X3.

I've also went into low-sec recently (around the Heaven constellation) and went pew pew on some roid pirates for bounties. All by myself.
You can play EvE by yourself. You just need to swallow your fears and doubts and DO something about it. __________________ "People die when they are killed."

We're all nerds, here. To some extent.
and there's plenty of solo players in EvE, some that are great experienced players. You don't HAVE to be in a corporation to get far in EvE.
You also have to remember that this is a game, and that you should do whatever you want as long as it makes it fun for you. Want to join a corporation for support? Go for it! Want to play solo? Ignore other players and do it. __________________ "People die when they are killed."

The first guys a whiney nerd and the second guy is just trying to enjoy a game by himself.I'm not gonna force myself to play with sub-par ppl I don't like so I'm lookin for an alternative and if their isn't a singleplayer version then I'm movin on. There's no single player version, but the next best thing you can do is to either just go it alone, ignore the annoying, befriend the tolerable and helpful, or just move on to another game.
I hope you don't go just based on other annoying folks, though. Even in real life you have to put up with irritating people, but you don't let that stop you, now do you? __________________ "People die when they are killed."

I took the OP to mean they want a single player Eve client, not that they just wanted to play the multiplayer game by themselves. Of course you can experience a lot of this game by yourself. I did it for eight months this year (see corp history)

That's not that bad. You want to talk about stupid players you should see this forum post some guy made. It was whining about the quality of the players of EVE online based on his experience with 1 corp. Not only that but he missed the entire point of EVE. Talk about an idiot. With any luck he'll quit paying soon. _______________

well i think he's talking about the WHINY nerds w/ very squeaky voices and always have to be right and complain when the get can flipped or get outgunned and ***** about it
any whiny nerd that gets into my corp is very short lived, we have infact recently kicked 3 of them w/ in the span of a week
we have a 14 year old in teh corp who although having no bass in his voice, is less whiny then them, and we have no problem w/ him, except that he seems to have his feelings hurt fairly easily, but even that is not as annoying as the nerdy types that just HAVE to be right and "pwn" and "phail" and all the other video game insults, they really dont have a place in our corp, when we kill something, we say "yeah, we killed the ****er" not "totally pwned! ! ! man"
i guess i am just lucky that we dont get to many i suppose

Edited by: Sodium Phosphate on 05/10/2008 05:32:21 No offense meant, but its kind of ******ed to play a massively multiplayer online game, made for people to play together, on your own.
Honestly there has to be thousands of corps out there, one has to have one with out some annoying kid on there. Just leave the ******ed one and join a dif one.
Youre also kind of a nerd if you think that roleplaying really matters in an MMO. It's not bad to be one either.
So what if someone has a high pitched voice, so what if another person is a kid in your corp? I started playing eve at 15 and I have socialized with my corp members for over three years I beleive. Most of my corpmates are plenty older than me and they get along with me fine. I might not have a high pitched voice, I dunno, but I at least try to act mature. Which atm you aren't....

These two statements are completely hypocritical. Not only are you calling other people, whiny nerds with high-pitched voices, but you want to play a multiplayer game on singleplayer mode because the people here pretty much suck? That sounds more nerdy to me.

To some extent this is why high sec is here , just avoid big corps & alliances & vent if you are not into this side of the game .
like others mentioned , there are lots of solo players out there , you just wont hear on most of them because thats part of the solo thing ,keeping to yourself ,obviously .

It's kinda funny that CCP is already planning to use Voice Fonts to make people's voices sound like their characters in order to appeal to the Role Playing crowd. I guess this guy quit too soon.

And playing Eve solo, has it's charms, but does get a bit dull after a while (that's what I did my first three months), then spent a month corphopping, before striking gold.
I started my own corp, and convinced one of my RL tabletop roleplaying mates to try Eve, he was instahooked and by now there's 4 of us. A nice little noob corp, and we're enjoying ourselves immensly. And we're only recruting people we know in RL, that we know we get along with

Pretentious people like the OP are the type of people I don't like to encounter in Eve. Assuming that all 0.0 alliances are whiny jerks just from one experience is ridiculous. You won't be missed.

Meh. If he wants to play solo play solo. Works for that Richter guy in Bordan. Though I notice that he's actually in an Alliance these days even if he still mostly plays alone. Must be wanting support for his new epeen. ------- CEO of Maids. No I didn't pick the name. I've grown rather fond of it though.

Originally by: Zombie27 I've been playing Eve for about 4 months.
So you're saying you'll only play Eve if the other guys are manly men, with deep soothing voices? O'rly?

I had several encounters with.
Named evilphoenix.
He was more or less solo and he did a DAMN good job of it.
It just takes some effort and you can **** of an entire alliance!

It's Jagons like the OP of this thread that make me have to coax new players on to our voice comms, because they think someone is going to make fun of their voice or accent. What, you never talked on a phone, or with other people? Get over it dude. If voice comms are gonna make you leave EVE then don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out.
BTW, part of my enjoyment is listening to and understanding the different accents and inflections of people from around the world.

Actually a single player version of the game would be fun if your internet connections was not available. You could fly your ships and kill rats, and mine and play the NPC market. I could go for that.
I don't know why you guys are insulting the creator of this thread over this topic. EVE without real people would be a better game if you asked me.

Well...the same ppl who had made X3 Reunion had the vision to make X-OU,that never came out,so me went to EVE in 2004.If you have played the X-series for a long time, than yes EVE is quite shocking.Get used to it or you stick to X3,your choice it is

NM-SPORPG's somewhere over there ----->
Find a corp the does not have voice requirements in their corp description or just don't use them. Play by yourself and be happy. Do not come to the forums of a multiplayer game complaining that you want to play by yourself. Just go do it and be quite about it, since being quite is what you want the others to do.

It wasn't your typing skills. It's not a huge deal to forget capitals and punctuation. It was your grammar that was poor. Using the wrong "their"? I mean, come on. How do you not know the difference between they're/their/there? I don't normally grammar police, but your post was so bad (and this is a QQ thread anyway) that it deserved it.

Yeah you're a gansta! We are all haters of you mate because this is a multiplayer game. Listen my son, this is a massively multiplayer role playing game. Thus there are REAL people playing. Not all of them are going to be ROLE playing when teamspeak is used.
I would love to pod you. Which is why I like multiplayer games like this. When I do pod you, it will be a real guy sitting at his computer screaming stuff at his monitor.

My advice would be dont judge a book by its cover, or in this case a person by their voice.
Lots of people from all over the world play eve, some with different accents some old some young.
Playing on voice takes a bit of getting used to, you can feel a bit of an idiot with a headset on, but everyone playing enjoys eve, and you can learn a lot by listening and talking with people.
Maybe you should take a bit of time to get to know your corp mates, then make a judgement.... or if you soley base your opnion of a person on what their voice sounds like... well theres not much help.

Didn't read all of the replies but its pretty obvious for me that your first choice of a big corp or alliance was a fail. Next time look around a bit better, believe me eve is bigger than that single corp or alliance. No matter how big it was.
