As the title says what is the most cost effective ship for solo pvp.
Personally i've used the thorax a lot and earned many times more than my fit and ship put together but have also made good money from my bs's (but if i lose my tech 2 fitted bs or just a well fitted bs then i have to have made some good kills just to break even - assault frigs not so much.
Would be good to get some opinions on cost effective pvp ships and maybe the way you use them

lol. The titans are usually considered the least cost effective. The fear of getting nuked is actually a bigger incentive then the actual damage incured.
Anyways i'd say the Harbinger and the Hurricane are the most cost effective ship. Fully T2 fit it my Hurricane only costs about 45 mil after insurance and it packs a tremendous wallop for such a cheap ship. _______________

Edited by: Liang Nuren on 05/10/2008 20:50:58 T1 cruisers, of course.
Caldari: Moa, Caracal (TD fit!) Gallente: Thorax, Vexor Minmatar: Rupture, Stabber Amarr: Arbitrator, Maller
Of course, Tier 1 BC's are also cost efficient and you don't even feel the need to rig them.
My favorite is the Vexor, but that's just for sentimental reasons (my first successful solo pirate ship).

Rifter. It's what I started my pirating career in, scored some 200-ish kills in Rifters before I generally stopped flying them.

T1 cruisers and battlecruiers give excellent cost effectiveness while still allowing a wide range of targets. Just don't rig them.

Cost effective?
Newbie ships.
Ok, so not very effective, but they're free, which means you get an infinite amount of 'bang-for-your isk'.
More seriously though, I'd say cruisers in general. For soloing Rax, Rupture, maybe Vexor and stabber.
Cruisers fully insure, are flexible and pack a lot of punch for their price tag.
Otherwise I quite like BCs - they're tough, with a fair bit of firepower, and a sensible price tag. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

I used the thorax for a while ... with 5 medium guns and double armor repairer = a tough cookie to crack. Didn't really like having to pick my battles tho - think maybe a bc is more my style (the bs's are a bit too slow and require expensive fits)

For high sec war decing, I'd have to say the single most efficient ship I've used is the Hurricane. It's fast, targets pretty fast, has good punch and a reasonable tank. It's also cheap to buy and fit so losing it isn't such a big deal as long as you kill a few cruisers/BC's first. BS's can kill more and score bigger catches but they cost much more to lose and unless you are station hugging, the lack of mobility makes them risky. Stealth bombers can also be very efficient (think submarine warfare vs cargo ships) but it's not overly interesting if used that way. I always end up pimp slapping ravens with it just for grins. Just my experience though, I mostly stick to empire (both high and low sec).

Dual armour rep on a thorax? o.0
Anyway, battlecruisers are great for high sec warfare but not so much for low sec cause they tend to get caught.

Kestrel with
4 light launchers Mwd, disruptor, shield extender 2 bcu
Total cost - 300K or so
This fit would probably be able to kill n00b cruisers (and below) in low-sec belts.
Show me a significantly better cost-effective fit...

Don't know where you're buying your stuff,Hurricanes cost around 36m with insurance at 11m. That's already over your quote without any fittings at all.

I think I'd stick to plate/ecm/gank thorax rather than a poor mans brutix.

I generally fit my PvP Hurricanes.
40-45M loss cost, depending on for how much you buy them, is about correct. 30ish M if unrigged.

I considered it, and this is all I came up with -
[Thorax, repwat] Medium Armor Repairer II Medium Armor Repairer II Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Small Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 200 Warp Disruptor II
Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Auxiliary Nano Pump I Auxiliary Nano Pump I Nanobot Accelerator I
Berserker SW-900 x2
Tbh I'm not sure if I'd fly this or not.
I kinda like it in a sick way.
