Thanks to CCP for replying.
I have submitted a bug report IAW instructions.
Since the patch was only for Macs and did not appear to include any vitally important revisions, would it be possible to simply roll it back while the problem is determined?

1: CCP casqade is afrequent 'fellow chatter' in the 'OS X' channel right after patches have been deployed to see how things are fairing. (Thank you Casqade ) 2: to your last question yes they can.

Are you saying that there is an in-game OS X channel? If so, is it called "OS X" or "OSX"?

Edited by: tutakai on 08/10/2008 15:44:09 Thanks. I'll be happy to jump in as soon as, you know, I can actually play Eve again.... :)

On my MacBook Pro (which is supported) the fps went from in the 20's to 4. (1.7 in Jita, undocking was scary!)
Also before the patch, the computer's cooling fan would come on when I ran EVE, after the patch, it does not. Its not that EVE cannot run faster, its not even trying to run fast.
Bug report submitted.

The auto update through the EVE client doesn't seem to be taking on my 10.5.5 3.2 GHz MacPro. It downloads but even after a restart of the EVE client and a restart of the computer there isn't any change to the Cider version shown in the version.plist. (even under the administrator account).
I will say thank you for at least showing continued OSX support.

Installed patch on MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.4
- lost windowed mode -- no apparent way to get it back; this stinks
- defaulted to a fullscreen mode with resolution that makes text unreadable; able to correct by changing EVE preference screen resolution
- did NOT notice loss of framerate

I'll bite; already sent a bug report to CCP, but replying here cannot do any harm i guess.
MacOS 10.4 and I am down to 1.1fps in-game. Fullscreen seems to be the only opition right now as all efforts to get the game to start windowed are futile.

I had a old copy of the config file that I had to use as the config file after the patch did not have the 'fullscreen=1' thing

Yeah I got stop animation lag and my client quits every 3-4 minutes.
This isn't some small little glitch, didn't you guys give this patch a test run before deployed it?
Epic fail CCP.
You should be glad I only play 1 MMORPG, or I'd be playing something else right now.

If nothing happens you should already have the new update. To check if you have it:
1. Open finder 2. Go to applications 3. Click the EVE Online app and "Show Package content" 4. Open the Contents folder 5. Open the file Version.plist - In the document you should see "CiderBuild" and then a number afterwards. If you have 1823, then you have the new version. If you have 1481 you have the old version.
Mine says 1481 but is showing 5.11.64451 as the version number of eve. This seems to be the latest version which would explain why it doesn't think it needs to patch. Any Ideas ?

That doesn't address the problem that I've got whereby the version number of Eve is 64451 yet the cider build is still 1481 not that I particularly want a broken cider install. What am I supposed to do to get my install back to a consistent state ?

Hi Casqade. Thank you for the "update". The patch you posted worked for me and resolved the FPS issue.

The cider version number is unrelated to what EVE build number you have. You can have both 1823 or 1481 but still run the latest version of EVE 64451. As for why you cannot update is because we have temporary disabled the patch, while a fix for Cider 1823 is being worked on.

I ran the Revert file, and it just opens for a second then closes. And it still says that I'm in Cider 1823

Transgaming client sucks.
I'm using wine, but since emperyan-1.1.2 there's an issue with crash after window focus lost/gain.

Patch fixed everything for my machine; map and station graphics are back to normal.
I'm running OSX 10.5.5 with one of the ATI x1600 cards and am not experiencing any framerate issues.
Glad I caught the patch while it was still up; thanks much CCP!

I have been having numerous problems since the patch. Since I rarely if ever check my framerate I cant say whether that took a hit or not. It has seemed much more "laggy" - jittery, jumpy graphics.
I have started to freeze/ crash much more again. That had gotten better for a few months , now has become much more frequent. It tends to be mid mission when a lot of incoming fire is targeting me. Good time to freeze eh? So far I have not lost my ship as I used to routinely. I have lost many sets of drones, both t2 as well as sentries. Both a hassle and an expense. That Mac Tax again:(
Also my Overview has been completely messed up since last patch. Not only did I loose my previous settings and tabs, now when I save new settings any alteration to one tab affects all the others. The settings dont stick. I'll set it to see all ships and after warping into mission I will see no rats, yet see the incoming fire streaming towards me.
I use a iMac 2.8 GHz, 4GB SDRAM, 10.5.5, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro
Seems like we are marching backwards in the land of the EVE Mac client.

for those of us with OSX 10.5.5 that would LIKE the patch, can we manually download it, much like those that want to revert can do so? |
