I have known MM guys since FA days and I would hand over 45 billion to them in a second knowing that it would be paid back according to whatever agreement we made even though we are shooting each other.

What MM should have done is to give the titan to TRI and then ganked it as soon as it was handed over. That would have been way more honorable then giving back the 45 bill. I'll bet that's what BE would have done.

On topic:

Tri, don't you think attacking immediate allied neighbors is a little on the gray side? Hell, I know real-life comparisons are taboo in Eve but a political parallel still holds. Attacking the allies of any business partner in the real world will jeopordize your relationship with said partner. You should be overjoyed you even got your isk back.

Now granted there are three versions of this agreement posted so far by three people that have slightly different terms. But the OP seems to confirm they got all their money back. (opportunity costs don't count)

The actual individuals involved without axes to grind know what happened. We did our best to make the interested parties in D00M. whole as quickly as possible without handing over a titan to people who began unprovoked attacks on our allies (and by extension us).

Dishonorable types would have kept the titan and the ISK.

Whatever occurred, this entire affair is on me. No one else.

I chose to take the deal from a friend. When TRI reformed, moved north and began invading a neighbor's space, I talked to that friend and let him know I wasn't too happy with it and could not in good conscience turn over a titan to an active hostile, so we worked out a second arrangement where the titan would be sold and D00M. would be returned the ISK value of their parts.

Two separate buyers feel through. Undaunted, we raised the isk by other means and turned it over to D00M. as soon as we had it...all the while being attacked by TRI and the GBC (sometimes together).

All the decisions were left up to me, really. RAWR leadership was kept apprised of what was being done. Everyone who expressed any opinion was in favor of making sure D00M. was made whole as quickly as possible.


Moral of the story, don't do business with reds, even reds who are "friends."

As I said earlier, opportunity cost doesn't count as 'not recieving all their isk back'. That is what the '5-10bn down' is, the cost to buy those same minerals today. Tri got all their money back.
