CCP will likely nerf missiles too, so do what you should have done in any case. Just train the race that has the ships you like flying and don't run after the FotM. The current balance will get shuffled a bit and it will take some time to see what works in different combat scenarios. You can get a pretty good idea what each race has to offer by browsing the ships and modules forum. If some ships are OP or suck, people will discuss it there in detail.

Passive drake is crappy for anything else than pve and never will be anything else very likely. I also want to note how crap dps you'll be doing having 3mil sp. It's not even funny. Hopefully upcoming speed balance does not increase missile damage in any way. Especially against ships you could hit normally anyway. Amarr is a strong second since they can't miss with their guns. They aren't missiles, but they track so fast that a BS can hit an inty, so Amarr might as well be shooting missiles. Missiles will be GOD after the speed nerf. Never miss, and everything will be moving too slow to mitigate damage so they will hit for full damage on most targets.

So pick any race it doesnt really matter and you can always crosstrain later and get those funky faction ships in the process

When I joind EVE 6 months ago Caldari was referd to as the worst PvP race, and gallante uber. Gallante is still good, caldari are ok, but they do need some loving in general (yes, the Drake and Falcon is good, but that 2 out of many ships).

Ultimatly its up to how much time you plan to put into the game. . .if you are willing to play for awhile - Amarr start to really shine in higher skill levels. But if you are looking for some pvp before you quit - Caldari will do well. . . but at higher skill levels, you will be disapointed. ---- ECCM is a Counter-measure not a defense.

FW showed CCP DEV that they went to far and they are an embarrassment to the eve pvp community :) I know I am Cald spec and 5 years war hardened 67mill sp and have flown with and against the best of the best of eve. Cald ships are a joke atm Yes even the chance base ecm falcon it just takes 1 miss jam and your dead such a joke that is.

Falcon, Cerb, rest is deadly in gang, nuff said Gallente have the neutDomi (nerf I demand!) along with the Thorax (still a good ship) and others Mimmatar have the Rupture, rapier, Typhoon, Tempest as lower rung PvPable ships... Normally I'd go of a tangent and do a long writeup on each race as most would percieve them in PvP, but with all the whining on this thread, I'd rather not. Some of you people need to grow up. -

That's their job. Though its intended design is for battleship level ECM, the Scorpion's one of the more flexible battleships in the Caldari arsenal for gang and fleet ops. It can swing for blasters/rails or for missiles, or even a mix of the two for decent damage output, and if you're not of the ECM persuasion, its wide range of midslots make for wicked tanking or tackling potential, or you can go hardcore on sensor boosters with resolution scripts and push your lock on times down to near cruiser levels. You just need to know what your support elements are and plan appropriately. Caldari ships have never been very good solopwnmobiles, except when you face an inexperienced opponent, they're fleet ships. If you've got a group of 6-10 people, that's where they start to shine. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.
