Same provider, exactly the same problem.
Either I don't get a connection at all (unable to connect), it stalls at the authentication (client won't complete handshake) or I get dropped out of the game after 2-5 minutes.
The problem started shortly after the downtime yesterday.

I made a post about my problems yesterday, here:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=894567
I also opened a petition and a GM has been in contact with me.
The traceroute is perfectly fine, and you can telnet Tranquility and get the expected response. Connecting to Singularity also works fine, only the live server is affected.
If today's downtime doesn't clear it up, I'll phone chello tomorrow and put my boot up their collective asses.
Ciao, Aronis!

Yeah, no change.
You have to be persistent with chello, they are a bit "obtuse".
I'll call tomorrow and massage them thoroughly, I doubt any of their higher level technicians are on at the weekend.

I called today, was told to send a report for their 2nd level to look at.
For a moment it seemed that talking to the 2nd level already "solved" that problem (despite the ominous "we didn't do anything" answer), but I guess I got my hopes up too early.
Anyway. I sent them a complete trace and a traffic log, let's see what they make out of it. I'd recommend calling today, too, so they know that it's not just one customer and "problem on your side, not ours" isn't an argument.

Same problem since last friday, sent Ping Plotter file to CCP, no response for now. Seems that Thelia.net is the routing problem. Dont know how to fix that. Think i call Chello and kick their nuts, might change to another provider if they dont care about

So far i did following:
- uninstalled eve completly including cache/settings and registry, downloaded and installed the client on different harddrives (2x) - ran pingplotter, results are very good (verified by GM) - ran winsockxpfix for repairing my connection - talking to my provider, no problems at all, perfect connection (av. ping 45, 0% PL) - changing prefs.ini, tried to login at port 3724 - cleared cache and settings folder - tried different ingame settings with cachesize, fullscreen/windowmode, shadowquality settings ect. - checked forums, no solution found, that i didnt tried - tried to log in with firewall completly shut down - installed Eve on a friends laptop using my ISP
All these things didnt help, still serverstatus unknown or get connectionloss after 2 or 3 minutes
Dont know what to do....

... and I thought I'm the only one going insane. I tryed all the stuff you did also + connecting several routers between me and the Chello line. Also talking for three days in a row to the 1st lvl helpdesk getting me more and more upset about the structures there. 2nd lvl can only be requested by 1st and the responsible manager is also not reachable... Chello now told me to arange me a 2nd lvl recall tomorrow - hopefully not again when I'm at work... keep you informed about the progress.

I¦m in Vienna and i had the same problems with cl¦s. Now i tried port 3724 (TQ alt port) but same issues. I think it is a port problem not a routing or lag problem. I need to investigate some longer. Pingplotter is running permanently on my maschine. ------------------------------------------------------ Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis _______________ Memento mori. |

I had a very long and nice talk to the second level support.
They checked their routing and couldn't find any problems. However, they informed me that they repeatedly had (and still have) problems with TeliaSonera, the carrier and ISP that CCP and Blizzard are using.
Telia has a weird practice of applying heavy traffic shaping when their lines come under too much stress, locking down the interchange with certain ISPs for weeks at an end. When enough people complain, or when traffic has sufficiently died down, they reinstate normal service, and the next ISP gets penalized. This most recently happened for Chello WoW players, which were unable to connect for several days, until Chello intervened and complained to Telia, backed by several thousand WoW players. Normal service resumed, only for another ISP to get throttled shortly after.
I'm inclined to believe Chello in this case. Since I have no way (or leverage) for contacting Telia, I asked Chello to do it, and I also updated my petition to CCP to ask them for the same. Let's see if it helps, if all else fails, we can only wait till Telia feels like lifting their shaping limitations.
Ciao, Aronis!

Edited by: Butch Cassidy on 16/10/2008 07:19:26 Got a phonecall from 2nd level support. They said that CCP has to kick their ISP, because there is a known problem with telia.net, and they (Chello) are not responsible for routing over telia.net. Dont know if or how this can be verfied, just might be a "get the f**k off" answer... I sent a logserver file to eve support, maybe they can see, whats going wrong If there is no chance to fix it, i will cancel:(

Answer from CCP on my Petition...
Quote: Thank you for contacting customer support. I see that your ISP is using aortan.net ( part of Chello Networks ) other players using aorta.net as their ISP's backbone provider have reported the same problems as you. The cause of this seems to be with aorta.net and chellonetworks. I suggest you contact your ISP support for they have more information on what the problem is and what is being done in order to fix it.
Best regards, Senior GM Retrofire EVE Online Customer Support
Hm and now? I wrote this to chello but prolly i get the same answer as the other chello users :-/ ------------------------------------------------------ Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis _______________ Memento mori. |

This is sad. I prepaid 2 accs till december, yesterday i managed to online 1 account but the 2nd didnt work. The moment i was online it worked fine, but today i cant manage to get online again.
Well, after 4 years maybe this will be the end, as i dont think we are enough to make them do something.

Hi all,
I just saw your feedbacks and i can tell you I'm bit desprate aswell. But as long as I have a subscription i will not stop without fighting - if needed - against both. I want to ask everyone who has problems with this to write down in this threat. The more we are the better. Chello's support just sucks and the ping pong from both sides - is not acceptable I think. I know that getting in touch with Chello is a pain in the ass (getting kicked out of supportphoneline, no callbacks from 2nd lvl support...) - so i think bigger. I would like to send some sort of petition about their service to the press contact of UPC and see what they say if a bunch of people is requesting help and does not get any. As far as i read substance of the contract is support. So if you like to join the fleet against chello - X up. rgds

Yesterday and today in the morning it seem the problem is not existing. But now its horrible. I can log in but every 1-5 minutes all 2 clients disconnecting. Pingplotter is stable without any connection timeouts. Evemon pops every minute the message --> server on --> server off
Is there any other program that can trace the server like evemon ------------------------------------------------------ Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis _______________ Memento mori. |
