With the way the skills are set in this game TIME is the true asset in the game. Those who have accounts from 2 years ago are going to be at a massive advantage over someone who started a month ago. Is there some way to buy TIME, i thought that the time cards gave you 60 days worth of skill training.. But this is not the case. wouldnt this be a good way to balance the playing field a bit. Maybe even limit the amount of time that could be bought per account or per character?

Well what shall i say ? I think its not our (the players who joined Eve earlier)fault, that you joined Eve so late. But see it this way. in 2 yours you are better than the new people. You will still suck compared to us older players tho.
Sorry for these words but people like you do not deserve better in my opinion, because you are prolly a troll.

Dude, your face!
On a more serious note, I think that you're spot on.
OP: The skill system is one of the features that makes EVE unique. I doubt there are many others who wants it changed.

You are joking right?
I'd say once you hit 7-10million skillpoint mark, if you are specialized, you will be competitive with the 50-60million skillpoint folks. The older players merely have more options of ships they can fly.
It all comes down to tactics, the ships involved and the player's ability to fly their own ships, not a skillpoint number.

real time training that takes days to months is one of the core elements that keep this game apart from all other MMO's. The lack of instant gratification of lvling your guns by killing space pirates or buying your skill points with real $$ filters out the people who don't see all the better aspects of this game. Thats is the main reason why the avearge player age is 27 and not 15. If instant gratification and not quality of game play is what your after I suggest WoW or one of the other couple dozen MMO's on the market that cater to that style.

Step 1: Sell GTC for ISK Step 2: buy +5s Step 3: watch SP roll in - after about 4 months you will be a months worth of training ahead over someone with no implants.
or:
Step 1: Sell GTCs for ISk Step 2: head over to the character bazaar and but the "toon" you think will make you L33t Step 3: lose expensive T2 ship in humiliatingly one-sided fight and realise that experience, knowledge and player skills > SP

Congratulations everyone! 10 posts until someone said "Go play WoW". That took an amazing amount of restraint by the greater posting community and I commend you all!

Plus you forget that if a clone is not updated, alot of SP can be at risk. I've learnt the hard way with one toon. Lost 14 days on Tactical Shield 5. So there, nur!

This is a preposterous suggestion.
So now you want the older, richer players to have even more of an edge? You're asking that the players with the most money -- who are usually the ones who already have the most skill points -- should get a bonus and be allowed to buy the rest of the training in the game?
No, skill training is fine as it is. I don't like waiting any more than anybody else, but it is a core feature of the game. You may as well be asking CCP to change the setting from space to dinosaurs.
As others have pointed out before, it takes roughly 8 or 9 months for a specialized character to become a threat to nearly everyone. Simply because you aren't in a mothership doesn't mean you can't compete. Interceptors and HACs are the "Flavor of the Month" as they say, and they require very little training to use with deadly effectiveness.

It is part of what they give you. you get 60 days of SP, or, 60 days + remaining SP of skill currently training.
Although I have a feeling you know the idea is stupid and you're just trolling

Worst idea ever. Also, massive misunderstanding of game mechanics. Take a look at ineve. Take a look at the guy with 110 million skillpoints. Take a look at the ships he can fly and his gunnery skills.
