Most likely a troll, although some people are so small mim=nded that they actually think this shit. Buying skill points would ruin this game, thats not what eve is about. I am happy that I have to wait another 40+ days for a dreadnought, because if I could just pay ú5 and jump straight into one then I have acomplished nothing.
If CCP ever did let us buy skillpoints, which they wont, I would quit. Simple as that, I'd quit and find something else to spend my time on.

Maybe even limit the amount of time that could be bought per account or per character?
This might be a idea IF the "skillpoints' in EvE worked the same way that "levels" do inother games.
They do NOT, and as such you're off-base before you even wrote this.
It's ALWAYS possible to "catch up", as you put it, in EvE. it's not even a issue, as the main counters in this game are player intelligence and skill, with the "skills" inthe game simply a measure of how e3fficient you are in using equipment. Think of it int hat way, and you'll soon realize that someone with 5-6 misllion skillpoints can be just as effective in certain things as someone with 50-60 million, who'd been playing for two-three yearsw.
PLAYER INTELLIGENCE is the key, which you obviously lack since you made this post in the first place.
OP's post is just another "I wnat it NOW" whine, with no real thought gives to the way the in-game mechanics work. Nothing to see here, move along.

Yes, there is a way that is commonly used to buy time/sp.
I had a corp mate once with roughly the same number of skillpoints as I. Logged in one day to see him zipping around in T2 cruisers of all sorts. What he'd done was purchase a character with the skills (allocated skillpoints) he wanted.
He went from being a promising up-and-comer to a real heavyweight in about a week (the amount of time it took his RL tactics and experience to "catch up" enough to his newly acquired skills).
Not something I personally would want to do, but it's there for those that want it.

This is a GREAT idea. It would provide another source of funds to CCP. Perhaps CCP then becomes rich and then CCP can buy Iceland. Call it New-Eden rename the currency to isk. Capital city renamed to Jita. ------------------------ "There was this bright flash of light - and now this egg shaped thing is on my screen - did I level up?" |

translation: I just started this game and keep getting spanked by a 5m SP guy in a vexor. I'm willing to spend my life savings to buy a 70m sp character but dont want to go through ebay. Please help me cheapen the time and effort that other players have been putting in for the last 4 years and sign on to this idea ---------------------------------------

<sarcastic rant on>Sure... I have 4 accounts and a couple of billion to improve my chars with. And the 2+ years of experience to actually use it. Lemme have some SP for ISK, plz!<end sarcastic rant>
Seriously, I train noobs in PVP. In 3 months a new player can be better than a 2 year old player who never left the protection of high sec.
Try it! Jen

Edited by: Falkus Windowmaker on 13/10/2008 07:24:53 Why is the OP "trying" to catch up? At most you'll only end up using 1% of your total skill points when you pvp and have been around for about 2 years. WTF type of advantage would a 2 year old or 5 year player have if they are caught in a frig or cruiser and run into a player in a Battle cruiser? This has to be a troll inspired thread. Hell even a 5 year player in capital ship has to watch their back when they are flying that nice big juicey "blob me, kill me" ship. Does the OP even realize how much folks love to kill cap pilots in this game or how easy it is to pop a 2-5 year vet caught solo in a gate camp?

I must aplogise to my corp, allaince and the eve fourm comunnity for the following...
OP you are a complete fuktard choad licking ballsak hummin ****** ccp clearly states in tos or eula ..whatever it is...
A players real life financal state should not affect them ingame, everyone in eve is equal just because you are rich in real life does not mean you should be ingame.
go play wow and pay some terriost at jihadcinkwogbuyisknowfreekeylogger.com to skill up your char while you go outside and get bullied.
the skill system is what makes eve what it is that and the one big pvp zone.
Or you are a troll which i dout because noone is ******ed engough to come with this idea.

Right, but it does. CCP will never directly do what the OP asks, but via GTC + char sales it is already available, so I'm not sure why everyone is frothing at the mouth --

The currency of Iceland is already ISK. Well Icelandic Kroner.

Because unlike GTC sales and char transfers, this suggestion effortlessly creates SP out of nothing.

OK, I'll reply assuming this is not a troll.
Unlike other levelling based MMOGs, Eve is different.
With most other games, you could get 1000 of your level 10 mates and go after a level 70, and still not scratch them.
In Eve, after say 1 month training in the right direction, you and 10 friends can jump into cruisers and kill me in any ship I fly. You could probably even do it in 10 frigates, but you could definitely kill me in cruisers.
That's one of the beauties of Eve. No one is untouchable. Your weapons won't just "bounce off" the oldest, toughest vet in the game.

This game needs to be learned from the ground up, unless you are just looking to play by yourself, then I guess I can see your point. So if you want to buy a pilot then follow Choas Incarnate's post.

The lack of instant gratification of lvling your guns by killing space pirates or buying your skill points with real $$ filters out the people who don't see all the better aspects of this game. Thats is the main reason why the avearge player age is 27 and not 15. If instant gratification and not quality of game play is what your after I suggest WoW or one of the other couple dozen MMO's on the market that cater to that style.
Then why is there approval of character sales? instant gratification is all i can say. Only takes about 6 months to make most of the toons that you see in the bazaar.

no longer applies with GTC = ISK and character = ISK,
CCP you broke the game when you allowed this nonsense. thanks for turning eve into a item mall. well, character mall at least.
