Nearly my longest stint id say. Sure some people dont care, but im interested in asking those that do play solo for the most part how long they have been so, and what keeps them in this vagabond career choice in eve. Im thinking of moving closer to corp mates... though the idea of returning to Ventrillo and taking/giving orders again discourages me. You could say the Crime and punishment of this thread is, its a crime that im jammed and blobbed for the most part and punished by CCP for going solo.

I'm not a fan of bigger gangs in that scenario, as with too many people, loot gets split too many ways. Other then that, I'm generally flying around solo in a Hurricane or a AF and off vent, occasionally ganged with a corpmate if I spot a target(s) I can't take and someone's around to assist. It just feels free - no time waiting for people to form up, don't have to take orders, can go where I want and do what I want... soloing is just liberating Ofc, it is kindof rough solo roaming in a BC in some parts of space; I actually had a cloak fitted on my last Hurricane for the nifty MWD->cloak tricks, after losing two canes in three days (one due to a roaming gang with rapiers on both sides, one due to uncloaking rapier catching me after jump-in and then a gang jumping before I got to murder the rapier ). Gneeznow Minmatar North Eastern Swat Pandemic Legion	Posted - 2008.10.13 11:32:00 - [4] I've spent maybe 80% of my time solo, the other 15% on fleet ops in 0.0 and 5% in small gangs in low sec (2-4 man) and tbh I do prefer solo, I dont like having to switch off my music so I can get on ts and listen to people ask ''where are you what ship will I bring wait 25 minutes while I fit a ship in amarr / rens / jita and head to you'' usually by the time thats done I've moved 2 regions and they have to catch up again, and they usually bring something useless anyway like an eagle or a slow bs, or there is other obstacles like their sec status is too low to move through empire to different pockets of low sec (I avoid the large pocket of low sec where fw takes place like the plague) Overall I feel the same as kesseh, a lot of solo'ing involves getting ganked to bits trying to roll the dice against superior numbers, and ofc if that isnt bad enough, you are usually gonna have some fgt in a falcon perma jamming you in the process, I jumped into a 6 man camp in a dominix other day, knew they were there thought I would engage anyway, 3 falcons uncloaked got away though, this is the standard scenario now for me. --> engage 2 to 6 man gang solo --> falcon uncloaks --> bail or die over the last 3 months thats probably happened to me 20 or 30 times, and I'm getting less and less inclined to roll the dice anymore, getting ganked over and over and over sucks, so running more and more in small gangs looks like the answer, but I would rather listen to music than other people tbh.

Best thing about going at it solo is that when you get a nice kill I felt great. Although these great kills were a lot more rarer than when I did fleet's combat, it sure felt better and was sure worth the time and effort.

You are too juicy of a target in anything bigger than a cruiser and it usually makes people call in 14 of their closest friends. So i tend to fly solo or with my trusty combat alt, and link up with many of my buddies out in 0.0 when the need strikes me. I dont like 0.0 other than the odd gate bust becuase well, I find alot of people just dont like to fight out there, u enter a system with 30 people in and everyone will dock, you might catch one then they all get in there combat ships and you have 1 vs 20 lol i like small group pvp, war decs, low sec gate camp busts and the likes, suits my style well. you should start a corp for the pvp nomads of eve that like to throw ships into bad situations :D i'd join :) i am quite sad though, i have my own killboard, just so i can look at my kills haha :D /edit/ and in answer to the actual question, iv flown solo in pvp prob for the last year or 2, i guess, find it hard to settle into 0.0, although i did spend about 5 months living in fountain with aa group of buddies, which was ok but they were great buddies of mine, several of them have left game so i left back to my roots in empire as was just not the same in 0.0 without them :(

Yeah, soloing for me = only catching crap targets, everything decent warps out when I pop into local (I don't have a falcon/prober alt), or I just happen to be jumping through when the bigger, badder, or more numerous opponent is on the other side. I have found hunting in popular pirate systems usually ends badly (ie Tama or Rancer)because the "noob" miner is typically bait for a 3-5 gang. When I am solo hunting for people I have started taking my interceptor more over a battleship. It can take most frigs and it can high tail it if things get ugly. Personally I haven't done a alot of low sec pvp, mostly high sec and 0.0. The main issue I have with low sec is the fear of jumping into a gate camp if you're in a big ship. And because of this I need to fly small ships when I'm alone --> fewer targets. I think I'll give it a go again now soon that I have a second account running for scouting. I remember I found it really hard to find viable targets before.

I'm still pretty new (3 months) but I love roaming around low-sec in my Thorax looking for fights, taught me a lot more about the game than running mish 23/7 would have. I'll consider joining the Privateers, but given that they tend to dec Eve Uni, and as I'm ex-Uni, I'll decide against it. I'll then spend a couple of weeks just changing skills, and start thinking that perhaps if I found the right corp things could be different. RESTART CYCLE However, this time I'm beginning to wonder if I should continue playing at all. I don't seem to fit anywhere.

Soloing and being flashy can be tough at the gates, especially with the FW guys hanging around in their blobs. So every once in a while I scan the recruitment forums, but the thought of getting on vent, waiting on people to form up, etc. quickly turns me off. Since going solo, I've learned more about how to handle my self and my ship than I ever did in 0. I think there's quite a few people playing this game that are scared to death of flying solo in low sec - even quite a few "experienced" pirates from what I can tell. Solo is what separates the men from the boys.

If you cant get an alt to move you in the required equipment within 4km3 then its too much. Fly ship by ship, one at a time and roam. Set a pod respawn close to the centre of EvE and have your alt bring you a fresh fitting from jita each time. If you plan on sticking around long enough, possibly have two fitted battleships for the odd time a counter attack is required. If you intend to have this nomadic career choice, you cannot stick around in one place. Dont get personal, people will blob, jam do whatever they can to win, but if your not around long enough, they will not be able to get into that nemesis frame of mind and wont bring in the silly numbers to feel they beat you. Being outlaw is being successful at making money from other peoples misfortune, the other half is knowing when your beat and move on. Its business. BTW if you have a single account then by all means dont fly battleships solo. Battleship combat solo requires an alt. Last piece of advice, dont join an organisation because they have a reputation. Its egotistical bullshit like that, that will leave you feeling like an idiot and most giving you less respect as your flying with Big heads. Strictly speaking, I could and did call upon help when overwhelmed or was asked by others to join their roaming gangs but it was never a definite thing. I died a lot, at least earlier on. 50% - 75% of my kills were solo. I then joined Black-Flag and then The Bastards. Solo work is hard and recommend everyone try it. Get into a rifter and go! Right now, Kane Rizzel is the solo pirate that I can think of. He still yarrs and kills and is doing well thank you very much. Not sure how long he has been solo. I started soloing because of the uncomfortable timezone(GMT+6), after some time it got quite addictive Can't really imagine myself being a regular member of all kinds of gangs.. not really mine type of thing. As for what keeps me playing solo - it's a drive on how far can you get - the extremes you can push yourself into And the satisfaction you get when you're defeating outnumbering forces or winning fights you shouldn't have won

I originally started soloing because I felt it would make me a better pilot pvpwise. A solo pilot can operate in a gang no problem, but a pilot used to being in a gang cannot necessarily solo. I figure the best way to be at the top of a km is to be the only one on the km, other than the vic ofc. I like the nomadic lifestyle, no committments, no hassles with corp politics or mandatory ops or worse yet meetings.

The biggest reason for me is that I can't block out the real world for hours on end (wife + job + etc...) and like the flexibility of just logging / docking / safeing up whenever I feel like it without adversely affecting others. I also don't like having to talk constantly or listen constantly on voice comms -- something best done in moderation. That said, I -do- enjoy small gang PvP and chatting with people from time to time. I can even stand the occasional large fleet system camping, though only once every few months or so I'd have to say about 80% of my play is solo PvP these days. It's fun, it's convenient, and so far I haven't gone broke getting blobbed to death. I've been doing it for the last ~3-4 months and will probably continue with it. I can't see myself going 100% solo, as I enjoy the corp(s) I'm in, but flying solo is simply easier and more fun for me at the moment.
