Last night I did the L4 'Materials For War' Storyline (kernite) and was expecting better than the L3 (omber) equivalent. My faction gain was only 0.7% - for the L3 vesions it was at least 1.4%
Anyone else had the L4 - was my faction gain as norm - or does it vary? . . 8/ everyone |

Yeah I think it must be the same for everyone , i get the same/similar gains for that mission , It's usually the kill missions you get 24% gains " Shipyard Theft" and so on , think its because how easy the mission is

The reward is in the reward, not in the standing increase.

if you're just trying to grind faction standing, I found it faster to blow through Lvl3 missions and storylines. Depending on the mission, lvl4s could take an hour or more (obviously some are less of course), where most lvl 3's can be blitzed in less than 30minutes some as fast as 5-10.
Started doing that after getting 4-5 courier storylines in a row..just wasn't worth the time effort.

I don't believe you. I have not seen a kill mission for a storyline in months. My last 30+ storylines have been the 8k kernite or 40k courier. It is really annoying.

Ever thought of moving so that the nearest storyline agent to you is from a division that gives out kill missions? ________________________________________________

All storyline agents give out kill missions for storylines - sometimes you just get a run of bad luck. Or a run where you get a decent implant for each storyline instead of a nice faction gain. Perspective is everything. ------------

Ok, question - how many SECONDS did it take you from the moment you accepted the storyline to the moment you turned it in ? Oh, you mean, 15 seconds tops ? Congratulations, you're part of the problem.
Next time, try accepting the mission, and letting it just sit there until the bonus time almost runs over even if you could complete it instantly, THEN complete it. If enough people would do that, rewards (cash and standings) would go up for it.
But no, everybody gets the materials first, THEN takes the mission, and turns it in instantly. And then you wonder why the hell the reward is minimal. At least a lot more people in L3s wait a while... L4s just churn it. OF COURSE L3s will give more standings than the same L4 in this case.

Might work , might not
My resident "Security" Storyline agent has given me 9 courier storylines in a row :)

I am sure it has been stated that the division does not matter for storyline agents.
I tend to agree with that sentiment since the storyline agent that I get nothing but courier/trade missions from is an internal security agent.

A little bit testy aren't we?
As ever - being prepared ... well, its kindof part of the game! No? And the kernite? Available in station! Those evil mining fiends. Sigh
Besides, I got another L4 Storyline just now, and its a kill mission.
Happy days! . . 8/ everyone |

Every storyline says "...will give you a SIGNIFICANT boost to your faction standing" or the like. That is bulls**t. The materials for war missions don't do this. I tried to grind my way up for amarr and did 32 lvl4 missions and got twice this stupid storyline (k, bad luck). I don't care about the easy and fast money (that's part of the ordinary missions), i want standing and i went up only from 5.04 to 5.09 after both storylines (I know it depends on the actual value and will be less the higher the standing)-> this is NOT SIGNIFICANT (second digit after the point?). So why is the boost that unbalanced to other storyline missions? I did the 40000m3 delivery (with a frighter ) and jumped from 5.09 to 5.24 or something (good luck)-> this is SIGNIFICANT and gives me the feeling to make progress.
Just my experience....

I have to agree, as my OP stated, the L3 version (same MO etc) gives a lot more standing. The charming Akita noted that it 'flexes' with use (new to me). But its not a 'significant' gain wrt a kill storyline. But the request for info means end of thread. Its the norm. . . 8/ everyone |
