Well the thread title says it all i'm wondering which one of the two i should go for, i have pretty much a 50/50 split on guns and drones tranining though i can use T2 drones but not T2 guns. Well i'm open to coments on which ship would be the better choice and why, sufggestions for good fits would be good to. I have pretty good fitting skills, though i dont want to be spending ridiculous amounts of isk on aship thats gonna end up as wreck at some point anyway. Right now i'm leaning towards the brutix just because of the nice dps and it being 10mil cheaper.

Brutix is a Thorax on roids imo, so nice up close blaster boat. Myrm is nifty, and can be a nasty drainer, laser user, artillery user, blaster, rails, and can field decent drones. Its a matter of preference I guess.

Brutix will get primaried alot, because of it's buffer tanks I've seen it with, a myrmidon on the other hand takes damage like a beast, and dishes a fair amount out.. ------------- Descend, bold traveller, and attain the centre of the Earth. |

This. Alot of people ignore the brutix rep bonus.

My answer to this question actually depends on WHERE you would be flying it. If you're going to be in low-sec where you will have sentry guns on you a lot of the time, flying a Myrm sucks. Your drones get popped by the sentries constantly. ----- My Pirate Blog: http://evenewb.blogspot.com/

Everyone is surprised when the heavy tank ship starts dishing 800 DPS.

The myrm is better even if you just dual rep it and mainly use drones as dps.

Edited by: Varus Riaz on 15/10/2008 04:40:34 Prefer the Brutix myself. The Myrmidon's probably a better ship, but I'd rather toss out the extra couple million isk for a Dominix when I want some non-Nano drone action. The Brutix is just a fun change of pace from my Ishtar and Domi.

Brutix, way more fun (life expectancy is of course far shorter than myrm)
like others have said, myrm is probably the "better" ship but 7x Neutron Blaster brutix is pure sex How to Fail at Eve

Brutix can either tank or dps, not one or the other (electrons and dual reps is ok at both but still a bit meh) and has alot of counters, neutships, rapier, interceptors like the crusader if you aren't dual repped and so on. Its a very nice ship but it is a bit rock paper scissors. My fav setup is full gank with t2 ions or neutrons, ecm drones and a sensor damp with a res script.
Myrmidon can tank amazingly either with dual reps if solo or passive shield tank if in a gang, and still do very good dps with a 2heavy/2med/1light drones setup, and your guns of choice (autocannnons tbh). Have lots of spare drones, light ecm and warrior 2's for dealing with those annoying inties. And it can also fit a mid neut or 2 and dual med cap boosters. Rounding it out as a very formidable ship without one gaping weak spot.
Price wise 20 mil against 30 mil is nothing really as it is all insured. The real expense is the 150m3 of T2 drones or a full rack or t2 guns, your looking at 10 mil in drones alone for myrmidon with a full bay. And they tend to get left behind and shot at quite a bit. Overall for solo stuff a myrmidon is better, but for just pure dps and top of the killmail style flying you cant really beat a brutix.

I fly both and I must say that the Brutix is pretty much always in the same fit with all people (gank + tank), but the myrm. That baby can keep so many different fittings that it will cause serious headache to anyone thinking "what does it have under it's hood".
It can tank, it can deal out damage, it can have insane amounts of 11km/s travelling Warrior II's and on top of it all, it can pretty much have any turrents it wants. It's a *****er all right.
