CCP and the BHs are putting a lot of effort in balancing turrets, modified Entropy for testing (its working very well and without lag at the moment I am writing this, and they created a fight-club corp like on chaos) and whenever TomB announces a change, lots of people start whining, complaining, telling that the changes would suck, etc.
I am now on Entropy and there are something like 10 people on who test, TEN (!!!), and 1-2 of them being BHs who are on most time for ensuring that everything runs smooth, transfering people, etc. Where is everbody? If you are interested in balancing turrets, log on to Entropy, test and report your results. CCP DOES look at what you post. They DO care. If you decide not to help, then I hope you also don't whine if you are unhappy about the changes because its your own fault.
Its really sad to see hundreds of people whining, but only a few actively trying to improve things.

Edited by: Hellek on 26/06/2004 21:47:38 If you would like to test but don't know how:
What you have to read: TomB's thread about Turret balance Info on Chaos (which is important for entropy as well as its almost the same)
Where you get the patches (I think you can go on to entropy without actually, but I installed them): Test Patches
And of course keep an eye on sticky threads in the Patch review forum!
PS: Don't forget that only standard T1 guns were changed, therefore DO NOT USE NAMED/META GUNS, as they are not updated yet. Also DO NOT FIGHT NPCs as they aren't updated yet either.

I've lost faith in the test servers long ago. First there was the issue of things being raised (on Chaos and from chaos) that was completely ignored. Then there was the limitation to 5 idling users for about a month...
What good is it to test and give feedback when you feel you are speaking to a wall that simply doesn't care?

I had this feeling for a long time as well, but I was tracking the topics about turret balancing for a long time, and TomBs last post restored my faith as it showed me that he did read what we wrote and parts of the things which people proposed are now in.
I therefore really recommend everybody to test and give feedback.
Entropy is runing fine, user limit is high enough (don't know what it is cause its never full, but I suppose at least 30, maybe even more).

Hellek, I completely agree with you. People moan and whine although they don't know jack.
Unfortunately, the mirror is way too old for me to do anything, I'm missing almost 2 million skillpoints there. That's the reason why I haven't been there yet.

I helped test frigate and cruiser combat, and how different balance changes to tracking, missiles and such affected the game before the second castor patch was released. I tried to get others to test with me, most of the time I was ignored simply because I was not in a battleship.
The most people did on chaos, was play with battleship setups and raid the free items in the hangar, some of which would take entire stacks of items and not put them back, others would roam around in their battleships on a powertrip and gank those without warning to "test their guns." Although I did find a few people who were of great help to me, most of the time spent on chaos was a joke.
I think some of the castor changes were impulsive and not properly tested. The arming times on missiles were removed before castor release thank goodness, however the MWD sig increase applied to frigates/cruisers was in dire need of more balance testing which I believe it never recieved.
About Entropy, I'd love to do some testing on there, although I kinda neglected training any character skills since the last mirror. My character on entropy is abit of a nubcaek.

You can't test **** with a 5 person cap, especially without any idle control.

I tried getting onto Entropy 2 times so far, but no BHs were there to help me with hangars and stuff. No users seemed to have access either.

There is no 5 cap limit on Entropy. __________ Hurricane Bug Hunter Lead |

Keep trying. Join #eve-entropy channel and ask anyone there.
We have select several players to have the permissions to accept apps for FCC and give hanger access.
They may be there and you didn't know it. Just ask in that #eve-entropy channel in game. __________ Hurricane Bug Hunter Lead |

JoCool,
Player accounts are mirrored automagically twice per week without regards to other mirroring.

Current mirror is about 1 mil skillpoints behind for me, but doesn't really matter don't need 20mil skillpoints to TEST stuff. It's not a arena ( althoug duels are good testing material ) but it's a testing enviroment, a mil skillpoints won't matter much. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Edited by: illuminati on 30/06/2004 07:19:45 To sum it up, I dont feel it's worth installing another copy of EVE just so I can sit and watch the "server is full" message.
I used to be on chaos alot before Castor but since I reactivated in april, testing is crap tbh.
Also, having a command for clients there to "/bump systemname" or "/teleport systemname" or whatever would be good since I prefer testing stuff where I regularly hunt. That would also be a killer-deal for going to PF-346 every time to reapply for FC.
I got on Entropy once and tested new turrets recently while the version was the same as TQ but why should I honestly occupy another install spot and keep it updated when it's next to impossible to get on?
Edit: Btw, if my account gets mirrored twice per week, my name is Frank Sinatra, hehe...

Can I get an automagical update on entropy? My character there is a few months behind.

Yeah, I've never seen any 'automatic' mirroring stuff going on, where can I sign up? :)

One thing that would be useful is some way of mirroring that allows characters to stay in their location and corp ie fight club.
Rather than the ole keep jumping down and re-applying. ;)
Though overall I think the test enviroment needs a dose of speed in many respects as some issues I'm left wondering if it's the new patch that's causing the prob or the inadquate server resources.

I would like to get my whole corp on there for 1 or 2 hours testing this Friday night or possibly Sunday. Who can I speak to about possibly securing a window of time when I could 20 people to purely PVP ?
Ive tried myself to get on but I work full time like many and struggle to even get on there myself, let alone with a sh*t load of corpmates.
Im really keen to test these changes after my feelings towards the last patch.
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

I just logged in on Entropy, my mirror-character is about 2-3months old. I dont even have the ship/money/equipment I have now.
I'd love to test those new turret-changes. But atm that is impossible for me to do.
Edit: When I say turret-changes, I mean the Large turrets

BH Hurricane, I take it you are now aware that the mirroring doesnt work? Or if it does work, not in the way most people define "mirroring".
Any way of adding teleport for us, getting userlimit upped slightly and mirroring more often? It would be good to know since I presently consider Entropy be off limits.
I do agree that the feedback from me and most likely nearly everyone else is limited unnecessarily due to this.

I would love to test if I could however my character data is over a month old and since there is no way to insta train things I can't do much at all. Im sorry but they are not that great test servers to begin with.

My opinion is that u shuld be able to rase/lower your skills as u wish on a test server (simply adding a + and - to every skill so u can test things wihtout the problem with mirroring), dunno if it's to hard to do or if its some other reson why it cant/wont be done.
