I haven't used a Dreadnought for some considerable time. Last time i bothered to fly a Moros was back before POS gunners, external anchored structures, Titans and well, you get the picture. Without gunners a POS could never really defend itself, the cycling of the guns and essentially random natue of their target selection meant that the only legitimate threat a Dread faced hitting even a Large Death Star was a defending fleet.
I sold my last one, but recently it has become necessary to get a new one.
The fit i used to use is as follows:
3x Rails, siege mod
5x Cap Charger II
1x Cap Rep, Exp II, DCU II, 2x EANM II, 2x MFS II
3x CCC
That gives a sustained tank of about 5500 dps, which used to be more than enough to tank a POS. Now with gunners making it possible to entirely focus a POS's firepower I don't think that will be sufficient. I've read that for Dreads buffer is very important. I assume this is because the best tactic for a Dread is to go into siege for one cycle, hope it survives, then when back out of siege get repped up by a friendly carrier before dropping back into siege and then starting again.
With that in mind, what should i do with the fitting? Trimarks instead of CCC seems like a fairly obvious place to get some extra EHP, but that wrecks your cap stability. I can swap out the MFS for Cap Power Relays to compensate but hat will then leave me with a pretty underwhelming level of firepower, which kinda makes flying a Dread pointless.
So, anyone with some more recent Dread experience with me, any advice will be greatly recieved.

In siege mode the fit i posted is barely cap stable.
Gotta remember that in siege mode the cycle time of your reppers is halved and the amount they rep is doubled. Essentially 1 repper = 4 reppers when in siege mode.

Edited by: TimMc on 19/10/2008 12:10:00 I've seen people using triple trimark instead of triple CCC. More of a gank fit.

To be honest with you it looks like a good fit for POS warfare. When fighting other capitals the reps wont be enough to keep you alive long enough to do your job. You would have to fit for the most EHP. Keep the set up you have just swap out the 3x CCC for trimarks, one SBII w/lock time script and get your self a slave set. There are other posts about setups. Have a nice day.

I would go for at least 1 if not 2 sensor boosters, if you get jumped while in siege its gonna suck if you cant even lock out to 120km, also i would put 3x damage mods on it, and plenty of sentry drones
