Hello
I fly a navy Megathron and have no problem tanking most lvl 4 missions but I think I got to low dmg,why I did not use 425 rails from the start is that I was afraid that I won't be able to hit most of the ships since they have a lower TS,so I think you can 100% hit BS and BC whit them but what about cruisers?
I intend to use Dread Guristas rails since they don't need much grid,my ship fitting will include 2 factional TC whit TS scripts, I have BS IV,Motion Prediction IV,a +5% TS implant and will use plutonium as ammo.
And please don't say stuff such as "fly a domi" yes i know its a good mission ship but i have 25 per and 17 mem so i focus more on gunnery skills.

In general, rules for missions are that you want to tank as little as necessary, and gank as much as possible. Make sure you've got 3 MFS2s on pretty much any setup, unless it'll gimp your tank to the point of explosion. Make sure you've got ammo for decent variety of ranges out to your max lockrange.
Also, despite crappy mem, you will need decent drone skills to fly gallente ships, so make sure you have them.

i've got no problem with 425mm rails. i use antimatter and plutonium ammo. Fit a web anyway and dont worry about cruiser, some t2 hammerhead will do a nice job.

ermm why bother with TC in missions at all (im not saying its useless)? with some manual flying ull fill the space with wrecks without them just fine. Granted i use Hype, not navy mega, but if hype has next to 0 issues with tracking in missions, how can mega have?

boost of range = boost of dmg since you can use shorter range high dmg ammo rather than using lesser damaging ammo, only reason why i'd use tracking computers
i doubt tracking should be an issue
whops.. seems he's using tracking scripts on them... no idea why...

I am in the process of switching over to the 425 IIs right now. For a long time I used Gallente Navy 350mm rails on my Navy Megathron. The 350s work really well - the ammo capacity in particular is very nice - but the 425 IIs do give a much better DPS at a more useful optimal range. Been playing around with EFT a bit to find something that fits - cpu is very tight on the Navy Megathron (if you want to use a Drone Link Augmentor, which I do). So far, it seems pretty effective. I'm using a Gallente Navy Webber to hold down those ships that get close.

If anything is too close to hit with your 425's then the drones will eat them up just nicely. Anything cruiser size up should fall anyway - basically go with the 425s.
Don't get paranoid with tracking issues, the bonus pretty much makes up for the lack of tracking on the larger guns. Use manual flying (and your drones) to compensate for any ships that keep getting under your tracking.
I'd recommend only using 350's if you know it's a cruiser heavy mission (i.e Buzz Kill or the one with the drone mines).

Having done Buzzkill in a mega pulse nightmare I'll say this much. The next time I get that mission I'm using either my machariel with autocannons or my nightmare with mega beams. That mission actually took out 9% of the armor on my nightmare.
Any rate, my personal preference would be to use 350mm rails. The extra range from the 425s is nice but I find that 350s seem to be a little more useful overall. It's really a tossup either way in the original poster's case. Two range scripts for 350s, 2 tracking scripts for 425s, either way it amounts to approximately the same thing. Personally, however, I'd consider using just one tracking computer and a target painter. By all accounts painters don't stack, with themselves or anything else, work approximately as well as tracking computers, and they work for guns, missiles, and, more importantly, your drones.
As for the concept of tanking as little as possible, that is one I distinctly do not, and will not ever, subscribe to as it'll get me killed.  Of course these days I rarely bother with working on a tank over 600-700 dps unless it's for an aggro magnet where it'll need to be higher or a ship mounting an afterburner where it can go as low as 400 or so for battleships and still be just fine.
