Edited by: Yuna Starlight on 19/10/2008 21:11:08 Hello
I am from the German Community. We have some ppl (3 ^^) with the same Problem:
EVE is freezing periodical everey 30 seconds (round about). The Screen freeze for 2-4 Seconds then is runs normal ... for the next 30-40 seconds.
You are not able to play like that.
We all have different System Setups but we all have "good" PCs with 2GB RAM + (mostly more then 50% Memory free and only 30% of CPU usage) and Dual or Quad Core. Win XP Problem.
We already tried A LOT of Setup changes like "turn the Sound of" "dont use High or Extreme Cache" or "Turn of the HDR".
The important thing is: The most of us is playing EVE since serval time (month or years already) and this Problem is "new"
We didnt had it before the last update.

whatever card you are using just make sure you drivers are fully up to date that is the most likelly cause of the problem as i have 3 computers running eve atm, one on a 4870 X2, one on a 7900GS and one on a 8800GT. All 3 are running perfectlly on premium with all settings set for maximum shiney.
FPS in space ratting is as follows: 4870 X2 140+ 8800GT 80-120 7900GS 50-90
It is much more likelly to me a driver problem instead of hardware so as i said check your drivers and if nothing comes of that try re-installing eve.
Hope this helps

Edited by: zombu2 on 20/10/2008 16:54:59 as you might have noticed this is indeed a driver problem or a client problem this particular problem was not present in the last version of the client
also i took another pc and installed windows on it specs are amd fx60 2gig ram nvidia 7950 x2 asus a8n32sli deluxe
the problem shows up here too with all updated drivers from the website i even tried the beta drivers problem still present
also installing the premium client on linux under wine has the same effect
update even the classic client seems to have the problem of random freezes i installed eve on a 3 year old dell with a 5900 nvidia card intel p4 2.4 ghz 1 gig ram nvidia 5900
no problems found so far it is running stable

Only thing i can surgest now is that you run task manager at the same time as eve with task manager set to "Always on top" under the options drop down menue then have the proccesses tab selected and sort by "Mem Usage" and see if any 1 programme is using silly ammounts of CPU for those 3-4 seconds.
Hope this helps.

I used to have this problem and found that closing the market window seemed to fix it. I no longer have this problem after upgrading from a 7950 and Win2k, 2gb ram to an 8800 and vista, 4gb ram

I also had this problem and I found that in the display and graphics area, changing the interval from ''interval immediate'' or ''interval defaul'' change this setting to interval one and it fixed ALL my freezing problems |

Change VSYNC setting: - Graphics options -> check "advanced settings" -> Present Interval to one.
Please let us know if that works for you folks or not. ____________________________ I break things.

Edited by: Lisandraia on 12/11/2008 04:05:48 I tried that, but doesn't work for me.
From what I've noticed:
1. Those periodic freezes happen at exactly every 60 seconds
2. They are unnoticable at first when the client is freshly loaded, but become longer and more annoying the longer the client is running.
3. There is no interruption of sound and the mouse pointer can still be moved, but everything else on the screen freezes
4. Directly after a freeze, the graphics appear to "catch up" for the lost time. There's no sudden gap after the freeze, just - everything happening twice as fast for a second or two.
A friend of mine who also plays EVE reports the same phenomenon.

Is it just Eve or any game?
I had a very similar issue when playing other games (before I got into Eve though) on a previous computer and it turned out that the IDE controller was freezing my entire system every time it flushed the cache (which was exactly once per minute). ---

Edited by: huxorator on 12/11/2008 08:35:59 I had that problem after installing Win XP Service Pack 3. This appeared to ruin your present driver installation. After SP3, I reinstalled chipset and graphics drivers, and everything was fine again.
Only problem I have now is a kind of "saw blade FPS" from time to time. FPS drop and rise constantly, drawing a kind of saw blade profile on the FPS monitor. --- IGS Website | Killboard | Game-Time Cards |

From my point of view as i had such issue before and did some research, the problem isn't related to the graphic card but to a disk/processor.
I basically saw some CPU usage spikes and probably disk delayed access.
I think it was svchost that was messing around but i didn't find a solution to that.
EVE seems to be very delicate with resources.
My graphics also stops refreshing when i click market, like all EVE waiting for full net data to produce something totally not related to that - next view(non-GUI) frame.

Hi
Same thing going on here. I just patched the game, didn't change anything else, and it's blocking up constantly, on every mouse click, on every jump (jumps take like 20-30 seconds, it's just waiting and waiting, but the net seems to be fine, and i'm nowhere near jita). When i press Escape to bring up the menu, it takes 10-15 seconds for the window to appear. And I'm docked!
I don't think it's a video driver/card issue, because when it's working i get 50-60+ fps, it's going smooth. But whatever i try to do (open/close ANY window, jump, dock, undock) it just freezes for a couple of seconds. And the CPU usage for exefile.exe seems to be always 90-95+ ... I don't have anything else running, only one EVE client.
I tried cache off, cache low, interval one, I've been playing with no sound, no voice from day 1, in windowed mode 1024x768, classic graphics, nvidia GeForce 7600GS, 128bit, 256mb memory, and 2GB RAM. Had no problems, until this patch came along. |

Does not work for me. Screen locks up every like 10 secs. Worked perfectly before patch. Seems like it is updating standings like every other second. Standings on overview is swiching between standing and neutral.

Edited by: M''etal on 12/11/2008 23:13:51 I got 3Gb ram and 2 client on premium eat each up to 720 ram. Before the patch they didnt done nothing to the system. As many players said, there are probaly many memory leaks on premium client.
Edit:
What the developer said, it does not help on my system. Same big "lag spikes".

Tryed setting interval to one, still same, real bad lag when jumping, docking, undocking and opening fittings ect. Dont lag when in warp tho. Got 5 gig ram, Nvidea Ge-force 8600 GT (up to date drivers) 64X2 Dual core 4600+.
Any idea's? These lag spikes suck, wasnt a problem before this patch and only happening with EvE.

Ya i notice a lot of spikes on the new patch. I hope CCP would do something about it but don't dream on it. It will probably be another month before they do something about the problem. Even then the problem might not be fixed. They probably blame it on the player's computer.
Radeon x800pro, 2gb Ram, and still getting noticeable lag spikes after patch. Please fix this. And it is even worst on my older computer which used to run fine.

Rosmary, I have an X800 pro as well... and I'm seeing the same pops... I set the "Interval" to "Two" in the advance settings... and it helps smooth things out a little bit...
I guess our poor old compys can't keep up with the Eve client (and I still run the classic client too.)
I guess we'll have to save my real life ISK and buy a new machine this winter. Too bad each time they add stuff the clients get slower, but thems the breaks! _
