heh, wait until you get into the big ships (bs and higher) and most t2 ships. Leadership is fun too. I have been procrastinating starting up Wing Command 4 and the 35 ish days to go to 5 so I can get Fleet Command. thats a 70 ish day train to get that one from 4 to 5. --------------------------

I hate that I am training CS V and it will take 45 days.
Good thing I started it....now hopefully I won't change it and just let it finish.

I'm very impatient myself and also change my mind often about what direction i want to take my character.
I don't mind the 4-5 day skills, but stuff like BC 5/mining barge 5 do get on my nerves a little.
But what can ya do eh?

Anything more than 9 days makes me go nuts. Something about changing and completing a skill is very satisfying.

I used to have a easy way of dealing with those, but it got taken out by the nerf bat.
Oh well, I guess I can get more of the short skills done now.
If you set one of those skills training, make sure that you have something to remind you to change it when it completes: after a month of no skill changes you might forget. |

Edited by: highonpop on 24/10/2008 18:10:51 i hate it, cause i will finally decide to train a long skill, then in the middle of training it, find something else that i could train to help my character out a little sooner. so i will pause, and train something else...then procrastinate, and take forever to resume the long skill. ehh
but i guess it helps balance out the game. it wouldnt be very fun if everyone in the game was able to do anything they want within just a few weeks. game would get boring |

I have a tendency to use my play time to train the short skills, then switch to a long skill when I go to bed. When I do get back on, I switch back to another short skill most of the time. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Oddly, I hate when I have to log in every few hours/days to change skill. For most of those very long skills you get reward title 'hey, not that many others have this'..

I hate it when skills take any less than a few days to train.
Back in ye olde days I used to hate long skills. Now that I'm an old fart with more accounts any any normal person should have, I can't stand having to babysit a 30 minute skill or log on every 3 hours to change fast skills. And I absolutely cannot stand any skill that's shorter than 8 hours and happens to finish when I'm sleeping, forcing me to change to some other skill that I have no real desire to train at that time, thanks to CCP's apparent inability to add a skill queue.

This except I only have one account. It explains why my skills tend to either be at 4/5 or 0/1. I hate to start a week+ skill, but I love not having to worry about it. |

Then again, when you're going on a holiday for 2 weeks and don't have access to Eve, you love the skills that require around 15-20 days. |

Look at it this way. Set up a long term aim which would take you several months to achieve and then you will love them since you don't have to change skills while training long skills.

My hate zone is between 3 and 12 hours.
Anything less than that I can complete while playing, and anything more than that I an set and then log off and do real-world stuff for a few hours, then sleep for my usual 8 hours, then wake up, and chance to a new skill.
But yes, the reason we need a skill queue isn't the long skillz, but the short ones. Those are the ones causing severe rectal pain.

this.
6-8 hour skills are my personal hates, not long enough whilst at work, not really an overnight. now ghost training is gone a skill queue would save lots of marital grief.....

It is cool that things take so long, you can sit back and relax and know you do not have to think about changing your skills fo at least another few weeks I like that.
Of course it is fun when you start out with a good planning and you can learn a few starter skills nice and fast but soon enough you will not want to learn 100 skill only so so but rather 20 or 30 skills real well and that takes time as it should. |

How much it annoys you depends on how long you have been playing. I have three? accounts with half a dozen "real" characters now. My main has been playing closer to two years. When I started with my main it sucked to train the six hour skills. Now my main rarely trains a skill that takes less than 12 days. With my new characters I find it extremely frustrating to be starting skills every few hours. |

Seriously this ^. 45 days for a rank 8 skill? Not even from lvl 0 to 5.
On a general run of the mill character with 5/4 learning and +4 implants it is only a 34d train.

the t2 ship skills flip perception and willpower so a character with high perception can have a surprise when doing command ships and hacs and recons. but 45 days sounds way way too high.

I really agree with this. I am a pretty new player (a few months only) and I really liked that when I went for a 16 day trip I just turned one big skill and went off, knowing that he won't even finish it by then, but I will have a short training when I come. Plus, you don't feel it so hard then.
BTW - I really don't mind short skill training. What bugs me is the skill that skills 2 hours... I usually have time to sit and play around 22/ 22:30 and rarely stay up to later than 24:00, so it just lacks a bit to completion... Like now, my archeology skill... Damn it... Got to log in and change it :P ------------------------
