What exactly do the Devs see Cruise missiles usefull for?
Missions: Currently fine, soon to be not so fine considering the vast amount of frigs and cruisers in a lot of missions. Use drones? Mediums got nerfed too. I guess I have to wait till those lights take 10 minutes to get that npc cruiser or af down and out... but meh, whatever. I'll just use a Nighthawk.
Cruise missile viability in PvP: Lolwhut? Currently is relegated to a small and infrequent niche, right? Anti-support against cruiser sized ships at range, sometimes extreme range.
But LolMissileSniper. Because of course this is often innefective in doing anything other than making the target warp out due to sickening missile travel times at range, but still if you make the Falcon/Rook/whatever run/run back it's better than nothing.
NOW on test the extremely anemic-0 damage to anything Cruiser sized will make this missile worth what?
Tell me what this missile will be good for after the nerf.
It's slow, it's damage is lame, you'll now need something painted and webbed to even do any damage at all to Cruisers or noticeable damage to BC. That leaves out anything beyond web range, so there goes your mackdaddy useless range ability. Hell, just bring a torps if your gonna do that right?
Without significant changes I reckon Cruise missiles (already scarce) will dissapear from the pvp field entirely.
Please tell me this won't be the case.

Frankly, some damage is better than the lol-immunity of current nanos to Cruise.

People rarely, if ever, use them for that now due to missile flight time so why on earth would they use them after the nerf?

I hadn't thought about this but OP brings up a good point... Maybe the cruise missile could be revisited? How about a 500% increase in the inherent missile velocity? :D no? Aww... ====================================

your failure does not make a nano curse immune :)
and yes sniper ravens are good at the moment. use a rapier and or falcon with 2 sniper ravens and u can make a 10 man gang lose ships.

Can someone post some numbers on how missiles perform?
Not on NPC ships but on actual cruiser sized targets and different speed.
EM damage on sheild at max velocioty with/without AB/MWD? And a 0m/s.

Actually I've been having lots of fun and getting some great kills with my pvp cruise raven. |

Since I've never fired a Cruise missile at a nanoship, I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.
However, I have spent a lot of time investigating the new missile damage formula, and, in general, I'm very happy with it. It's impossible to avoid missile damage simply by going really quickly, Jav HAMs have been fixed, Guided Missile Precision is now a useful skill, Crash boosters and Rigour rigs are now useful and target painters are now the "tracking computer for missiles".
As for Cruise - its role of general ranged DPS support and antisupport will remain. It will be easier to mitigate low-medium levels of Cruise damage, but impossible for HACs/recons to avoid it altogether. It all seems very sensible.
I still haven't looked at stealth bombers yet, so no comment there. And I don't care about PVE.

As lond as they are balanced due to the speed nerf they will be the missile BS sniper weapon, so in other words they will or should suck at killing anything but cruisers or larger.
You did not really think they were just gonna slow stuff down for your missile spams did ya?.

Painters need more range and cruise missiles need to be faster if you want to see these actually used.
I repeat, you don't hardly ever see cruise snipers now as they are completely outclassed by any gun/laser platform. Why tf should anyone use em after the nerf when they become even worse?

I've seen quite a few ppl sniper with cruise ravens.... the trick is to start shooting the secondary early so you don't have missiles in flight to primary when they die. TBH where I came from this is about as basic knowledge as properly arranging your targets between other fleet members if your ecm or staying out of smartbomb range when tackling carriers. It does make alpha strikes pretty much impossible but if your in a sniper fleet and have half a brain you should keep most of your damage.
As for complaining about lots of cruisers/frigs in missions... from what I understand cruise missiles will still be the best bs sized weapon for taking down smaller ships, and a raven has enough drone bay for 5 lights to kill frigs and 5 mediums to kill cruisers.
