At exactly 2012.01.20 22:25, I reported a bug!
The Bug:
The bug is the strange white/silver gloss on the ponytail hairstyle for gallente when you chose dark black hair.
Their is clipping and it looks terrible under ANY lighting condition.

The problem:
The bug report I made was closed and had the notation that said "FIXED", I have recently reopened the bug report and made this thread in attempts to get something done about this.

How about instead of being a pain in the ass on the forums you just open another bug ticket and explain that it was not resolved the first time. People do make mistakes. You of all people should know that since you seem to make a lot of them.

I don't think CCP "intended" for any hairstyle to have clipping issues or strange texture problems were it appears as though the hair is turning grey.
If I want grey hair I will select gray hair. I selected BLACK HAIR and I WANT BLACK HAIR.

Having read your bug report, I can't see that there is even a bug. You'd notice that with hair, it generally shines. Your report is pretty much saying "This doesn't look like what I want it to look like, fix it mommy!" like an upset child who got the wrong Christmas present. |

Seems like they have claimed to "Fix" quite a few issues recently...yet I still see some on a regular basis.
Screen still flashing at certain angles to sun.
Docking while cloaked still fails.
I'm sure there are plenty more.

You realize, that just because a Bug is Fixed, doesn't mean it's made it into the current update right ?
I reported a bug, it was marked as fixed, in 1.5.x, there were a few updates since, and then in 1.6.0 is was fixed..
Not all fixes make it into each update, some are part of bigger changes. |

One of the things that frustrates me about this is that its isolated to only the hairstyles that are slicked back into a tail. The long wavvy hair parts in the middle like this one but does not have the gloss problem.

On a serious note, he's quite correct - it is a problem but it could be just as likely a problem with the Shader on your graphics card rather then a generic problem in EVE.
Identify your GPU, your Driver version and your OS as it's extremely relevant in this case. |

No need to be so hostile - The 3D environment when you're designing your look certainly isn't rendered server side.
How do you know that the avatar profile isn't saved when you click the capture button ?
After all, they used to have massive problems with the whole portrait server ...

Sorry. I am just frustrated.
The End effect or portrait is rendered server side and yes they did have alot of problems in the past. They still do. They did fix the eye gloss and lipstick color bugs as far as I can tell but the hair is still a problem.

Confirming CCP does not care about bug reports. Which is why the thruster effects on the einherji are still broken and fighter pilots most likely spin without any control.
edit: Well all the fighters are graphically broken on second look. The stabaliser effect they used to have has been replaced with unbalanced constant thrust from the side of the fighter. |

But, you as a consumer, will not see this until say...Inferno possibly?

Alright, I can replicate this with Gallente and Caldari. From what I can see it is a lighting effect, because if I change the angles, etc. and the light source the effect disappears. |

Sometimes the bug handling is really bad. A few of my examples:
- Being told something is working as intended and the seeing a fix a few days later.
- Bug being marked as 'fixed' with no apparent change at all.
- Having several year old bugs replied to with a message "This was probably fixed at some point wasn't it?"
And of course my one year long attempt at reporting a game breaking bug in the old patcher.
It's ok that some bugs aren't as important as others. It's also ok that bug reports can be so bad that no fix can be made, I personally probably have made a few those. If the bug system could handle cases where a fix isn't immediately possible it would be less frustrating for users. It does seem like devs and bughunters feel pressured to handle all bugs, even if it isn't possible. But thats just the case with software bugs, some are not possible to fix right away or at all.
I know that the bughunters are unpaid and unappreciated sometimes. Poor guys. But it's not easy being a player spending a lot of time trying to report a bug either. |

What upsets me is that though it "appears" to be a lighting effect it is unchanged by the angle of light in the portrait creator. I want my old avatar back. The one with jet black hair and a devious smile.

I bugreported once an issue with building specific T2 ships in an upgraded Amarr OP. It was closed later with "fixed" but found out they forgot JF's :)
Repetitioned it (since people make mistakes) and the issue was resolved later.
tl;dr : Even devs can make errors, don't go running the ze forums with some generalisation, but be mature and reopen the case explaining the issue still exists.

OK, so I've done some digging and for the sake of transparency here are my findings.
Firstly, the bug report was attached to a defect already. The fix for the initial problem was also the fix for the lipstick problem, and so it was attached to the defect concerning this. Now we hit an interesting situation - because your bug report was attached to a defect, when you reopened it it didn't re-enter our system. We have made quite a few changes to the bug reporting website recently and I feel like this might be because of one of these changes. Bugs on the bug reporting website making bugs not show up, how meta...
So, thanks for uncovering that there is an issue with the way our site handles bugs (even if that was in no way your initial intent), and as far as the issue you have reported goes - the team responsible will assess if it is a problem, and if they establish that it is, prioritise the fix as fits their schedule and goals.
For the others who are upset about bug reporting, please understand that we can't get it right 100% of the time. Our staff and our wonderful volunteers work very hard to process the bug reports effectively. Some slip through the cracks and for that we can only apologise and ask you to please try again.

I fixed the bug with the lipstick, and then I e-mailed some people to find out who would deal with the hair issue. Then I showed one of the character artists the issue on my computer and he took a better look at it, found what the issue was and we created a defect on it, using your screenshots. The defect is still open, but as of now it's set to be fixed for Inferno (but it might change if the technical artist runs out of time).
So please don't say bugreports do nothing, that just hurts my feelings

The lipstick issue was fixed February 2nd (and probably went out with Crucible 1.5), and the defect on the hair issue was created a few days later.

Gad... i reported a lot of bugs, many quite important and they were marked as expired (they are still not fixed).
And you scream about that you look little 'older' because of hoar?
IMHO they should add such option :D Image with some gray hairs is 100% more sexy. The one with total black hair is rather plastic.
+1 for drones and all f***ing objects lightning :D

Asking an awful lot there. Personally I feel that stargates turning into supernovas, ships with the 60's cartoon style of invisibility, and stations disappearing into the void to be a bit more concerning than Xenuria's switch in dog food brands has started giving her a shinier coat. To be fair, she basically spat in your faces with a title that she hasn't changed yet regardless of the fact that she caught the attention of several dev's who have more than corrected her. |

Yups, after some head scratching I tracked this down to a change in the geometry that probably went out with Crucible. When the tech artists have fixed this then a re-render of the portrait should be all that's needed. The issue is most definitely not dead and buried; on the contrary, the change that introduced the problem touched a lot of files, so there might be several affected assets.. so dear colleagues, do poke that tech artist once in a while |

My apologies.
I had meant to indicate that something was defective with the way bug reports work. I just made the title with flavor is all. Incidentally it appears I was right and a meta thing happened.
A bug in a bug reporting system, one that apparently made it difficult to find my report.
oh how meta I seem to have caused a forum bug in the OP.

you could also try changing teh lighiting options that will allow to do cool shiite like make your sunglasses opaque like mine or trasparent and will also change the way light will bounce of ur hair |
