That's why they're working real hard on the problem. Believe me, they're as ****ed off with the current situation as you are. That's why they're working their little dev behinds off to fix it

I totally agree. We are paying to play, not paying to loose 1 month's work on a crash its THEIR fault. CCP, you better roll back that patch or something, cause its buggy.

For God's sake, don't be stupid. A rollback would create even MORE problems. It's too long after the patch to do a rollback now.

The Team lead at CCP must be imcompetent!!!! Lets face it, it would have been sensible to resolve the lag issues caused by the hardware upgrade..
Its sheer lunacy to implement a patch as large as the last one without resolving the cluster problems. This has now been going on for close to a month and I'm afraid that the Eve communtity is quickly losing its patience.
Plus the promo is now going.. Eve is just going to get slated as being a P.O.S!!!
I know they are working hard to resolve this issues, but it needs to be done quickly before there are mass cancellations
Just my two tuppance

Well that just isn't good enough. First off you guys continueally insult us with excuses, "we're awar of the problem, blah blah blah". Then you post and post and post and post endlessly about all the things we really cant use. And to top it all of, you announce a 14-day trial which you know is gonna bring in another 1000 people resulting in MORE LAG - YOU GUYS ARE PATHETIC!
I guess I am the fool here for giving you my money when I could go have 2 pints of lager instead, at least I have come to expect alchohol to fill me with lies and give me headaches... -- "I am an expert in not caring. I'm sorry but it's been way too long. There are so many bugs now it's totaly unplayable. What I find amazing is CCP have the time to nerf things i.e cloaking but not fix the game itself. Why is nerfing things more important than fixing the damned game??
I have tried to be patient but more and more bugs are popping up. My ship today would only go half speed, whilst ratting bs's, at the same time my missiles decided not to work (known bug i beleive and yet not fixed) and then to top it all off I get a game freeze. I strongly beleive that CCP do not employ enough people! Why do we have to wait till tuesday for a patch, try working through the weekend for once!!! I feel that we are owed some compensation.

Give it a REST people! Creating more and more threads about the same issues that have already been mentioned 2 billion times already isn't going to accomplish anything. Try going outside and breathing some fresh air for a while instead of spewing more nonsense on these boards.

Wooohooo! EVE Beta all over again
Mass Cancellation is certainly on the horizon, this lag is terrible, the bugs are terrible. I've been a happy customer for 4months now, but the latest chain of events is seriously p'ssing me off from head to toe... and then back again several times. I know CCP is working hard supposedly (as you keep saying) but seriously, this problem has plagued the server since the last patch and why is it only within the last week or so you've started work on it? This lag isnt providing the noobs with a fun experiance which they want to pay for every month for as long as they live. This 14-day trial certainly isnt going to, 1. Help the server with its lag problems and 2. Provide the new players with a good first impression of a fun MMO.
I hardly ever rant as I think CCP do a good job on the whole, but this is starting to turn into a joke. |

If you whine about this, you cannot have played this game for very long. It was much worse 10 months ago, and anyone with the tiniest fragment of common sense should fathom that these little glitches will not continue for long.
I am amazed that mentally challenged crybabies as you, can actually construct coherent sentences to vent your whining.

its all very well saying the devs are ****ed off with the patch and are working hard to fix it,but its us that are paying for a sub standard product.
any decent company that had invested in new hardware would expect that said hardware to work off the bat,and if it didnt would raise merry hell to get it fixed, but this has been going on for a month and is getting worse, and to add insult to injury there seems no communcation from ccp.
well theres a whole heap of mmo coming in the near future, giving me more options to spend my hard earned cash and the way things are going it wont be to ccp.

Sorry.. this is not a broadway musical... stop creating such a damned huge song and dance about this. This is a mmporg and I invite you to look at the one of the competition and see which one of theirs doesnt have bugs and server situations now and then. Every single one of them, and every time you get these same threads.
Sometimes though its worth just seeing a server crash to see all the performance artists come here and dance for us on the forums. Always the same ol same ol, and its always just as amusing to watch. Welcome to world of mmporgs and the fact the devs are human. LOL, why dont you go see what SoE does and get some perspective and just how well CCP are dealing with this.

I'm starting a competeing MMORPG during the free time I have during server downtime.
I'm calling it PEEVE-Online. Accouts are only $15 a month, and for that you get a splash screen, logon button, and dozens of randomized error messages. I'll be periodically introducing new content - new error messages, and perhaps a second screen you can get to before you crash out of that one.
Hurry and get an account today! The server only supports one person at a time, but something tells me that wont be a problem.
Originally by: Sochin CCP has provided you with the tools you need to avoid crime. You're just too lazy/stupid to use them.

All im trying to say that this isnt going to impress the new players, and its new players that keep eve alive if you didnt notice. You guys who always criticise us for moaning should start paying for eve with your OWN money and stop leeching off your parents. You'll find that the cash we have is well earnt and we spend it wisely, paying for a game that isnt stable half of the time isnt cash well spent.

Some of us work and make so much money that tossing $15 a month on a game is peanuts. It's nice being overpaid and underutilized.

Yes, it's bad - though I'm sure they haven't done it on purpose, I'm sure they ARE working very hard to rectify it and I'm sure, in fact I'm certain, that those of you who are whining will be getting podded at the earliest opportunity.
Good day, we're still gonna try and play, if for no other reason a) it is fun (still, warts and all) and b) it will help out the diagnostics.

Man ya all need to relax. I've been playing since release. I have seen worse and I have seen better patches. Just live with em the server problems have to be found when they happen not after the fact. Have you ever worked in the IT field before. For some background you have to diagnose the problem as they happen meanning you have to have the problem happening atm to be able to find them. Logs dont fix everything they just help you find problems that you think of while programming not the ones you didnt expect. Give em a little bit and your sky will be fixed CHICKEN LITTLE.

You've started the apocalypse! Run for your lives! The four horsemen are gliding through the clouds this way! Aaaargh!!!
Anyway, It cant be helped, the lag problems and the bugs has everybodies nerves and minds torn up and on fire. Every topic turns into this sort of thing until the dev's fix it.

I started playing eve November last year. I admit though, I then quit becuase I was not enjoying it. I then resubscribed end of May, and found that loads of improvements have been made, so much so that I have continued playing far more than before. So, to day CCp are not doing much, and making the game worse i cannot agree with, as it is blatatnly improving, it juts seems worse in the short term. However, I have seen incredible lag recently. Also, there have been some exteremely annoying instances. We had been corp mining for baout 2 hours, stockpiliing the ore at the roid belt, with the intention of hauling it back when we'd finished mining. Suddenyy 'Dear players, due to unforseen circumstances the server wil be closed in 20 minutes'. Crap, we all began hurrying to get as much ore as possible. Then, 2 minutes later 'Dear players, due to unforseen circumstances, the server will close in 10 minutes'. ****, we all began hurrying even faster. The point is, it was a bit of a laugh hurrying about. Also, I am sure the game is improving, despite the short term drawbacks. Yes, the lag at the moment is killer, but things can only get better, and i'm sure CCP are working hard. ----------------------------------------------- The Amarr way is the right way

i'm very satisfied with Eve and am willing to work around the bugs and tough it out during server upgrades that will eventually reduce lag. You all are snivelling whiners and i hope you quit and go play some lame MMORPG that is custom-made for you. In fact, why don't you buy a console game system and play games that NEVER change. If you had customers like yourselves, you'd prolly quit your job too.

I'd like to add something.
Star Wars Galaxies, with the sunset of E&B, is the only competition EVE has for Space MMORPG right now.
If you think EVE's problems are bad, just read the FAQ on SWG.
SWG = NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANTI-ALIASING according to SOE!
How the bloody tampon are you going to put out a game in a sci-fi universe without your players being able to run Anti-Aliasing at 2x unless they have a $400 256mb ddr Video Card! The lag is so bad with even anistropic filtering on that your speeder bike hops periodically across the landscape, occasionally causing a client crash or a respawn 50 feet in the air above where you were. If you happen to land on a beastie, you're screwed. And you can forget about Mos Eisley. They have a beer nite that causes 78% of the people who try to go to it to client crash.
So honestly, EVE isn't all that buggy, compared to Lucas's megalith. The only games less buggy, in fact, have been EnB and FFXI, and with EnB sunsetting and having no PvP, and FFXI being, well, EQ with chocobos and nerfing, EVE's the best thing out there.
SO give our underdog devs a break, man. Yes, the last patch was ****e. And now they're doing their damnedest to research why. They don't have half the resources that EA devoted to EnB, and sure as hell don't have near what SOE is devoting to SWG. Yet they're doing a better job. If you can do better, submit your lines of code to them and see if they can implement it.
I keep a teddy bear in my pod with me. A teddy bear with sharp teeth, massive claws, and a pinache for eating the flesh of podded corpses. I call him "Fuzzy". |

Marco said: You guys who always criticise us for moaning should start paying for eve with your OWN money and stop leeching off your parents. You'll find that the cash we have is well earnt and we spend it wisely, paying for a game that isnt stable half of the time isnt cash well spent.
---
$15 dollars a month for a mmporg that you spend hours upon hours playing, and the *nature* of the genre is that of various bugs and server issues (of which EVE is definitely one of the most stable ones by far... take a look at some of the competition!).
Mate.. its not a parent/leach issue for some, its a simple case of many of us not getting our panties in a bunch over 15 dollars a month, especially when the situation has not become as unreasonable as you seem to point out. Yes I realise that just because its not a lot of money doesnt mean you should put up with anything... but the present situation is hardly unreasonable. If you think it is, you are a mmporg newb pure and simple (not that there is anything wrong with that, but thats why newbs shouldnt sound off on the general forums in this way). Take the advice of the above poster and play a Sony MMPORG (the two leading US mmporgs - EQ and Star Wars Galaxies) to see stabilty and bugs, and then youll gain some sort of perspective.
Basically if its an issue over the fact that you just can't handle the server/bugs, change genres becauses every mmporg will be like this... in fact others will be worse. If its an issue over money per month, get a better paid job and the 15 dollars wont seem as much (and if it means as much, surely you can't spare it to play this game) :)
And the impossible quest for the crash free/bug free mmporg for the forum perfectionists (yes I deleted the word 'whiners' to something more polite there hehe) continues -----

A place where Concord no longer polices or protects, 'human nature' thrives in all its distilled destructive self-serving glory. I keep hearing this... I'm not exactly understanding it. If you are talking about MMORPG's in general then you are way off. Just load up Asheron's Call 1 and see. You can play that game for days with no problems at all. I have a buff-bot running on that game that only goes down when I have a power outage or they take the server down for a monthly update. They also have a TOP-NOTCH customer service site and forums. You can ask questions and actually get answers in a timely fashion. However, if you are talking about SPACE based MMORPG's then you are correct but that's not exactly saying much since there are only really two of those on the market right now. Being the best out of two when neither is even remotely stable is not exactly a good thing... |

Edited by: Swift on 02/07/2004 23:48:04 I understand your point.. but EVE only turned one years old a short while ago. Asherons Call is now quite a few years old, has a skeleton player base and thus really very little is going on. Thus its hardly difficult for its customer service to handle the few people online and the very little changes occuring in the game. Do you remember Turbine and AC during its first years? I think many others players do.. teehee...
Everquest on release - players couldnt actually log on, and there were no quests. This lasted for well well over a year in terms of instability and gameplay.
Asheroncs Call - huge issues with exploits and hacks that plagues the game all tis life and Turbine getting a huge hit for not taking an aggressive stance.
Anarchy Online - the worst mmporg release on history, costing it huge amounts of income from lost players....
Star Wars Galaxies - one of the buggiest games in existence with completely broken classes still and server issues worse than this one popping up.
This list goes on and on.. and EVE really stands up ahead of every single one *except* the recent City of Heroes which has had a super smooth release and seems to be sliding along like butter. However it is a far far simpler game and simplicity often goes hand in hand with less problems when the load on the tech isnt quite as heavy.
No it doesnt matter really.. people will complain and I understand that. My only regret is that I posted here when I knew that it wouldnt change a thing. But human nature is human nature -----

No it doesnt matter really.. people will complain and I understand that. My only regret is that I posted here when I knew that it wouldnt change a thing. But human nature is human nature -----
--- 'The truth about low sec space is that it reveals humanity - the 'essence' of all the races, in its purest form. A place where Concord no longer polices or protects, 'human nature' thrives in all its distilled destructive self-serving glory. Welcome to hell ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what it really is to be human.'

I can live with these bugs NO problem, im VERY patient, hell I have faith in CCP to get them fixed, but when you lose a month times worth of investments because of some instability issue with the GAME, and ccp isnt going to replace it, or ANY of it, its a very very sad painful thing, and this is what I think is ****ing off the people for the most part... I just want my stuff back when I lose it due to CCP's instable game... or at least some of it...

FACT: Eve runs a hell of alot better that most MMORPG... so its going through a rough patch.. live with it or leave. There is no use in flaming etc.
They are trying to make the game better.. upgrading the clusters like ccp's servers takes alot of work.. . little things go wrong...
Just wait.. grow up.. and live with it. ---------------------------

I get more to feeling that its the older players that keep EVE alive. All I c from the new players is consumer-whines and "I leave" threads.
/emote whishes these ppl would put action where their mouths are

whiners: go out and get some sun. The rest of the playerbase are tired of hearing about how your 14.95 monthly fee should get you a free BJ and a supersized french fry. Course, I know 14.95 is alot to you farkin 8 year olds who only get a 20 dollar a week allowance from mum and dad; and, it must really burn deep inside knowing you could've bought the new teenage mutant ninja doll (w/kung fu grip even) and been the envy of all your neigborhood sex trophy friends. But, thats really too bad. Here is a hanky.
I mean really, the servers ARE a problem. And the devs seem to be taking it seriously. Is it really worth repeteadly coming to the forum to jump up and down and throw a temper tantrum? STFU already.
I'm so unlucky that if I was to fall into a barrel of nipples I'd come out sucking my thumb. |

Heh, i see people screaming "omg fix it now blah blah blah" followed by others yelling "take your time with patches and fixes so there arent many bugs".

Sure Eve isn't perfect, but it's looking quite good compared to other MMORPG. Anyone who think CCP are 'amateurs' should check how the 'professionals' are doing like SoE.

Originally by: Swift I understand your point.. but EVE only turned one years old a short while ago. Asherons Call is now quite a few years old, has a skeleton player base and thus really very little is going on. Thus its hardly difficult for its customer service to handle the few people online and the very little changes occuring in the game. Do you remember Turbine and AC during its first years? I think many others players do.. teehee...
Skeleton player base? I just did a quick check at www.treestats.com and there are 6233 people playing AC1 right now. According to the EVE login screen thre are 6130 people playing EVE at this very moment. Pretty evenly matched if you ask me. Sure AC1 is spread over multiple servers but that's not the issue. Whether it's 1 server or 8, if you can't play, you can't play. Oh and I very much remember AC1's launch. I was there. I guess it spoiled me into thinking MMORPG's should be stable since it was probably the smoothest opening of a MMORPG in recorded history. I had no problems at all and the only time I remember the servers coming down was after the admins giving ample warning in game and then applying actual "hot-fixes" that fixed problems. If by hacks and exploits you mean Decal then I have to laugh. Decal isn't that big of a deal and the devs have even incorporated many of Decal's plugins into the client itself. Not to mention hiring some of the plugin authors as members of the Turbine team. They know a good thing when they see it and aren't afraid to listen to the player base. Anyway, sorry about all that. I realize it wasn't exactly EVE related but it is within the context of this thread which basically boils down to: "Other companies are getting it right. What's up CCP?" Also, each month Turbine adds new content. I'm not sure where you got the "very little changes occuring in the game" thing. You must be thinking of Turbine's mangled AC2 which was and still is a total disaster with probably the smallest playerbase of an MMORPG I've ever seen. I remember logging in once to see a whopping 50 people online.
All in all I'm just frustrated that CCP thinks content is God when it can't even be enjoyed due to bugs they won't fix. Why won't they fix them? Because they are to busy making new content. It's a sick cycle devs with this mindset rarely snap out of and it's discouraging. |

Quote: Sony MMPORG (the two leading US mmporgs - EQ and Star Wars Galaxies) to see stabilty and bugs, and then youll gain some sort of perspective.
I love the way Sony has put such a low standard on quality control for MMORPG's... allows all companys to now put out sub standard products while allowing a few to go "But it's better than <insert Sony Product Here>"
Whine? Naa, don't really care, don't have time to play for the next month anyway, but it is funny to see those that don't care about what they get for their money flame against those that do. The new world simply doesn't care about quality... as long as it's high speed.
This post soon to be followed by a "END YOURSELF" or "You should just quit" post by the same folks that don't care about what they get for their money, because they do not understand how others tie themselves to their time & money investment into specific MMORPG's. |

i never complain about lag in an MMORPG that devs are trying to fix. I understand that they are trying their best and if it can't be fixed quickly, it can't be fixed.. Especially since CCP let us know they are aware of the issue..
but i am getting frustrated. I've been busy with real life so I have no time to play anyways. I can understand how angry people are getting over this.
I think what ****es me off most is the fact that people are working on fixing the server instead of other stupid issues with the last patch (balance). This just delays upcomming updates even further.. ugh
oh well. gonna go watch a movie. hopefully this time next week (when im less busy) the game will be fixed ________

I would like to add that eve is pretty damn stable compared to other MMORPGs. I've never played an MMORPG that was able to release a large patch and have it working within a week.
Still no excuse, but I wanted to make that clear. ________
