So...... friday evening and we're relaxing a bit. Having a bit of a party.
We get a call from one of our scouts;
"About 20 frigs and cruiser are heading out your way"
"rgr that"
About 5 minutes before they are about to arrive, we refit, and go sit in a belt all of us, and we park our ebil frigspanker exactly at the warpin point.
And lo and behold.. here they come, all of them. 20 frigs and cruiser roughly warps into the belt at 15 km.. where Dukath sits.
Did i tell you about Dukath? He loves poppoing frigs. Currently running his bombathron, which is equipped with 8x large smartbombs.
He now has 20 frigs/cruisers 1-2 km from him.
Needless to say, what follows is a slaughter, we see corpses everywhere and things just... blows up.
Don't ask us how many we killed. I have no clue since the pods instapopped as well as the corpses and cans.. they just.. vanished.
We chase around the few who actually lived, killed a few more, and right now, laffing our heads off.
Thanks PA, that was hilarious. On behalf of all of us... thank you.

god it was fun. even though i lost a punisher. i got fraps footage but it doesnt show the megathron using the smartbombs but you get the idea of the general melee involved, ah well.
working on the fraps now

Ok, now a tactical breakdown of the attack. Despite all the fun we had this could have beena very serious attack. Some of this is speculation based on what I would have done so I can't be certain its true.
pro:
- fast, they moved very fast, stayed ahead of the map
- despite no battleships I assume it was a wel balanced fleet with several blackbirds. Their goal was to hit a mining op fast so the blackbirds had ecm to disable the guards while the frigates went to kill the haulers and miners.
- decent scouting
con:
- bad intel: i have been using a bomberthron for several weeks now so someone should have thought about the possibility
- bad intel: right before the attack a frigate warped into the belt at range and scouted our positions. He had time to note the positions and should have seen i was exactly at the exit point from the gate where they would be coming from.
- bad maneuver: they almost all warped in at exactly the same spot. If it were battleships its not a huge problem but frigates, for various reasons should warp in from different directions
All in all, if this was not a faked mining op (we knew you were coming :) ) you would definitely have done serious damage. It was also a bold attack and ended up being hilarious so I applaud you for that.

The video doesn't really show the massacre as it was made by the attacking force by i think the first one who got through. He got through the smartbomb range because i was waiting for more to drop out of warp before i started smartbombing :)
Anyway, he didn't look back when the massacre happened so not much to see.

I must say that I find it extremely amusing to see PA people moan and complain about spying. Did we hear anything of that when PA claimed that one of our directors had turned "ethical spy" giving them access to our forums?
Nono, I guess that was legit.
Also, of course, it is a fact that we know exactly what happened in there, and we do find it hilarious that the PA didn't think about the fact that they were - with those screenies - forgetting that their "ethical spy-director" for some reason didn't have access to our director forums... Weird... (You guys could have planned those lies a bit better, you know...)
Anyways, all PA that thinks spying is low and icky, you might have thought about that before you joined PA---certain elements in the PA have a history of wanting to covertly spy on friend and foe alike...
