When you decloak, you still cannot get a target for like 15 seconds. Because your sensors arenĘt "calibrated" yet. Takes 15 seconds to recalibrate the sensors. Normal.
When you're coming out of warp, you can not immediately get a target lock. This has something to do with interference from the warp you are doing, which prevents your sensors from getting a target lock or something. Also very much normal.
What is NOT normal is the fact there is no indicator that shows when you can, and when you can not, get a target lock. You just have to keep rightclicking tell it works.
So I think we need something like this. The sensor calibration indicator light thingy. It should be intimately connected to the locking. No delays. So once you are able to get a lock. The indicator would go from red to green at the very same time.
It could look something like this picture.. With just a little light in the middle of the GUI.... It would be red when the sensors aren't calibrated yet. And it would turn green at the very same moment you are able to lock stuff nStuff.

Good idea, but i don't like the suggestion you have for where to place it _______________
The sword has to be more than a simple weapon; it has to be an answer to life's questions

Love the idea!
I also like the placement of it. THe GUI is short on real-estate. Why not put it in that little unused spot in the middle of the cap indicator?
I also like your sleek STOP button.

great idea, but the red light in the middle looks kinda goofy to me,
how about just grey-out, or make red, the weapons (or any targetable module) until u can target (the graphic code for that is already in the game anyway, so might as well get more use from it).
targetable mods showing red/greyed until the target timer is up is fairly logical, since they cannot be used until that time is up anyway.
on the other hand I am FULLY in support of that excellent 'stop-ship' button graphic instead of the funny looking stop sign we currently have;)

Don't fade stuff in the space view anymore though please..
Hmm.. Maybe the turret thing is ok, but I might have my view on the mid slots, and the mid slots might all be things that don't need sensor calibration. So I would be stuck having to switch to the high slot view just to see the indication.
Maybe if we just replaced the flat red dot with a grayed out dot which looks like the light is turned off.. Then it starts flashing green when you can get a lock?
Better yet. Make the whole GUI like WinAMP where players can create skins.
But we definitely need a calibration indicator.

You know, when you have played since release, you see a lot of suggestions/tips/nerfs/etc...; but this one is actually a VERY GOOD ONE!
It helps everyone, hurts nobody, and makes sense!
