But he was alot less of a threat than some of the other countries we could have chosen to invade: North Korea, Iran, Portugal, Spain.

None the sources you cite claim there were.
They point to non-weaponized pre-cursors to WMDS and then infer that they were bound to be used to build WMD even though Iraq lacks the facilities, funds, and other neccesary materials, and were under the constant watchful eye of pretty much the entire planet.

Silly kids and your modern politics... I wasn't referring to the Iraq war with that comment about "American hypocrisy". Go back a bit earlier in history, and look at all the various incidents during the Cold War. American policy was essentially "Yay freedom! Yay democracy! Unless you're a dirty commie!". How many governments did we overthrow because the people used their freedom and democracy to elect someone we didn't like? Or how about the Gallente giving weapons to Minmatar terrorists freedom fighters, just like we did in Afghanistan against the Soviets?
The Gallente attitude towards the Caldari attempt to leave the Federation is so close to Cold War-era American policy that I really have to wonder if CCP intentionally borrowed from that part of history in writing the background material. Despite what the Gallente fanboys want to think, the Gallente are NOT the all-perfect good guys. There are no good sides in EVE, only different shades of gray.

As for the major plex thing, again, shiny ships - though I notice you're carefully omitting the horrible beating you and your gang took a short while later. Interesting. I have been reading this for couple of days now and have to say I don't know if laugh or cry. I have quite strong opinions of FOOM, "noob militia corps" and all the other things but I wont say anything about them here, becouse it's totally pointless. Killboards and IC Faction Warfare Statistics tell something, but it depends how you read them who is the best, winning, failing or whatewer...
But I have something to say for Volky: why are you in militia if you want to find solo PvP? You go in one of those places, which is maby one of the most War Target infested areas of EVE and cry that people wont come 1on1 for you? Factional Warfare is supposed to be massive war between these large factions and you want duels? You really wait that Gallente and Caldari meet up in one system, form in two lines and fight duels untill theres only one side left?
Factional warfare is full of whiny whimps that cry ewerytime they die, it's becouse enemy blobs, uses traps, wont 1on1 or whatever... it's always enemys fault, not becouse you just failed.
P.S. I admit that in local I always taunt and smack, but thats only tactics: annoyed and angry enemy makes lots of mistakes ;)
If I have hurted someones feelings I'm sorry. You gallentes and minmatars are quite nice enemy... like shooting fish in a barrel, but still great fun... darn, I did it again :(
