IÆve been running missions for a long time now, and have been a casual player since 2004. IÆve always wanted to get into PvP, but as my ships got bigger and my modules got more expensive, the interest died down due to logic: ½ fly what you can afford to lose +; ½ Your ships are lost as soon as you undock +. There was also another factor; Most corps have no serious support for inexperienced PvPers, most of these corps are inexperienced themselves; and the hardcore PvP corps just rush you in a 200 man fleet in 0.0 with no guidance what so ever (thatÆs if you ever manage to get in one that operate in 0.0 ½ seriously +). The small Roaming PvP Corps, where youÆll see 20-30 pilots and 2/3rd of the members are highly experienced, are pretty picky about who they chose. These kinds of corps can teach you a hell of allot, in all aspect of PvP in eve; from scanning your target down, finding and locking him, popping him quick, and making a quick getaway if the target has many campmates in local or the vicinities. I can understand why these guys can be picky about who they let in; the same way, with experience and time, you become extremely picky about the corp. you want to spend the next year in. IÆve seen allot of post from people demanding that carebears be thrown in low sec and 0.0. As an Ex Carebear, let me tell you that you donÆt want this. A carebear gets aggressive when pushed, especially experienced mission runners. They tend to group up in system that are highly profitable; where there are good agents for example.
- Now take out the agent and replace the rats with PvPers whose fittings can buy a 60 day GTC and whose ships, when salvaged drop nice goodies. The same way there is a database for rats in Mission survival sites, the same way they came up with fittings for specific ships, rats and missionsàthe same thing will happen for ½ PvPrats +.
- Now that was one scenario. The second scenario is one that involves swarms and swarms of lvl 4 mission runners. Think of Goons on steroids: back when Goons first started, they could fleet up 200 noobs in frigs and cruisers. Remember how nasty that was? Remember how random they were? Now imagine a ****ed off mission runner who lost a raven, fleeting up 200-300 of CNRs, Maels, Domi, Caneà some really nasty stuff. There are more lvl4 mission runners than there are low / null sec PvPers, itÆs a fact.
- Now in my last scenario, one that IÆm hoping because of the corp. IÆm in right now, is that this switch of restriction, from high sec carebeare to low/null sec carebear, would change most of 0.0 into an amamake like mess. No more hours of roaming from W-TFCK to O-SHT without one target in local. And just like amamake, Industrialist would not be interested in flying there AT ALL; the risk for them would be higher than it is now.
IÆm a carebear that has moved from high sec to 0.0, and frankly, IÆm loving it. Was roaming with some new buddies last night and we have some pretty nice kills with just one ceptor lost. We even randomly ganked an escorted Freighter that was passing near our system. Te freighter drops in Kill mail was Epic btw. I was picky about the corp, posted a professionally descent ad in recruitment channel shopped around, spoke to people, and it paid off. These guys are relaxed, donÆt take themselves too seriously, and are not condescending. They are willing to share knowledge and the Vent convo is pretty light; no corporate blablah that has nothing to do with you or the reason why you joined the corp. Alliance and corp chat are not spammed with info that are important (itÆs short and clear). IÆm not stuck in 0.0, they still give you the option to make your isk the way you want to : set a clone in high sec for mission running, or rat ½ at your own risk in 0.0 + or whatever it is that keep your cash flowing while still being available for Ops.
I will keep this post updated with my PvP experiences as an ex carebear |

Originally by: Johnny Rook I, for one, am terrified at the thought of hundreds of people who don't know how to pvp flying expensive ships in low sec
TERRIFIED
I really laught when I hear pvpers say that experienced lvl 4 runners can't fit a ship...
PvPers fight like this Lvl4 runners fight like that
two different world, both fittings types make sense and work in it's respective senario...
and yes you should be affraid of a goon like swarm composed of experienced mission runner...
unless you bring a fleet of 200 ECM boats and call it a draw...
1 one 1 I know that a lone mission runner don,t stand a chance with his fitting...but a fleet...
It's something I'd like to see tho, Runners Vs PvPers fleet fight The alpha on the Runner side will be slightly weaker than the pvpers because pvpers fit for DPS and ECM with low or no Tank whereas Runner fit for a balance of DPS and Tank...
So it should be an interesting duel .
Mindsets are different, effectivenes stays the same
I'd like to have soem experienced PvPers and Runners to argue it out...not the troll, please guys... there's a special class in WoW for you guys, with the same name. |

Originally by: Clair Bear Won't ever happen. We carebears are all about wallets. PvPers are all about killboard stats. It makes as much sense for carebears to suddenly grow a sack and go looking for kills as it does for e.g. Skunk to get a hulk and start mining veldspar next to Chribba.
While I admit to enjoying the occasional blob or senseless gank (on the ganker side, natch) the mere possibility of roaming all night to find nothing or nothing but bigger blobs does not appeal in the least. Do not want.
dude...unless your an indy guy, we all have the urge to blow people (no pun intended) and we all have the urge to fill our wallets. if mission runners were given the option to blow people without risk...they'd probably take it
and I've been roaming fro two consecutive nights for 5 hours each, and we've never came across a blob...and if we were that lucky and died horribly...that would have been a good death...and i would have jumped to my High sec clone to mission a bit with the satisfaction that i took out a few falcons and cruisers before going down. And that would make my one week of missioning a hell of allot more satisfying because I know that after that I'd have a wallet that is big enough to get me enough T2 fitted Hacs to get back in 0.0 for a full week.
Now that is EvE sorry to sound like a 0.0 dweller...But "I was blind and now I see"...

CEO (they dont have an FC)"Oh yes 2 Huggins we can take these guys EASY "Primay Evil Piwate 2" they all try to lock the huggins locking each other or their drones 95% of the time due to overview set up. Bear1 "wow what's this big sheild around the gate" Six people at once " why can't my cruise missiles hit this guy???!!?!?" CEO "doesn't matter they can't break our mega tanks stupid pirates"
Blob of pirate BS warp in from a close safe to a 160km snipe spot ( oh i say pirate because all PvPers are pirates from what i gather from the smack in local) Pirate FC starts calling primary's secondary's etc,Grinning from ear to ear at the floating isk in front of them .
CEO "OH Cipes" All at once "screams of terror" CEO "Warp out warp out" All at once "Cant warp" So far no one has locked a target other than the 2 recons all are agroed cant warp and don't know why. First target pops.... screams moans and crys of haxx is all that can be heard from then on over voice. CEO did come up with the idea to reapproach gate and would of got out but his drones were still trying to hit a recon and he was still wondering how long he had to wait for agro to finish when he popped

Originally by: Tsiros carebears can pvp. i know it sounds stupid but all you need is one pvpier to lead you through (give you ideas about fitting and the gang methods) and just to accept that ships will go down. after that you just learn on the way as everyone does when he/she starts pvp
thank you !!
it's almost as it you were reading my mind this morning.
It only takes one FC One advice One switch - most of the time, from an active tank to a passive tank.
and your set.
Agony Unleash and Goons (back in the days) are living proof of the power of non "dedicated" pvper
I seriously tough that after those guys PvP trolls would have learned. Back when I did my Agony unleash frig PvP training we scared off a carrier...And I'm not even exaggerating.
One single fleet of t1 frigs all of them cheap T1 fitted killed BSs and HACs
all we needed was "one FC"

never said you couldn't...I'm an avid lvl 4 guys...and I've been roaming in 0.0 with the guys in my corp for two consecutive nights now. The divide lies in the fact that I have ships "for PvP" in a 0.0 station..and That one token ship "for PvE" in high sec.
I'll pay good money to see a PvP fitted Maels or Tempest run Angel Extravaganza LvL 4 and survive through the whole mission. Or even complete it in a reasonable time fro it to be profitable.
there is a divide. And it's not in the Players but in the playing styles "I once was blind, and now I see" |

carriers never were solo pwnmobiles.... grab a handfull of bs, bump it off the station and its dead... if you cant fly one dont comment on how "uber pwnmobile" they are...
what was all the talk about "nerfing" then ?
Btw ...don't be condescending, especially if your lone argument is "bump it off the station and its dead", then just keep doing what you do and keep it on the low
The guy talks about popping a a carrier has if he was talking about passing gas...

This is what we want! We want good fights, we want to find low sec populated with people that want to fight as well, not run away, log off or dock up when someone that doesn't want to rat with you enters local. If you can organise a gang of carebears to come and fight in low sec, please do so and the best of luck to you.
This is what Eve (mostly) is about isn't it? The 'MM' in 'MMORPG' isn't there for no good reason, I find it interesting that it's only taken you 4 years to work it out.
it didn't take me 4 years... I chose a gameplay and stuck with it for a while...
now I'm doing something else... That's what S.B. in Sand Box stand for no ? "I once was blind, and now I see" |
