Edited by: Eternal Error on 05/11/2008 03:51:16 I'm poor and need some money for a GTC. You are richer than me. In accordance with our soon-to-be new economic policies, you need to support me and spread the wealth! Please wire all ISK donations to eternal error. I deserve them. It is only fair.
Thank you for your time.

Actually, since the Heth (Bush) tax cuts are soon to be phased out, you will be paying higher taxes. If you currently pay any, that is.
Also, if you own a small business, you'll be paying much higher taxes. --------

Unfortunately, you're incorrect. Most small businesses function not as LLCs - which appears to be what those studies are based on - but as individual owners...i.e., my dad is a contractor, etc.
Most such businesses take in well over 250K a year, in order to pay employee wages, withholding, workers comp., supplies/materials, and etc. What's left is the net.
HOWEVER, taxes are based on gross income, not net income. So even though a private contractor only takes home 30-40K a year, he is going to get taxed as if he brought home 250K+
Now, the articles you cite don't actually address that. They address ANYONE filing a certain type of tax return, since the government doesn't do a census on small businesses. In short, because they want a pro-Obama conclusion, they discover that applicable data is not available and go ahead and make a judgment anyway.
Regardless of that, any small business with high overhead is going to get hit, hard. And I anticipate the first way they'll be dealing with it is by laying off employees. Another method may be under-reporting income. It's very likely that most small businesses will become non-competitive compared to large conglomerates.

Do use use drugs?
He is proposing 2 trilling in new spending over next 4 years, on top of a projected budget deficit of 400 billion. The president does not have a line item veto- and Obama will never veto any bill sent to him. they will all pass and they will all be signed.

We were doing just fine until someone decided to start giving out loans to everyone. In fact, thanks to people doing MORE business, we had a surplus.
Of course, because actually having extra money is apparently anathema, we spent it all.
And if you look at the things Obama is proposing, they aren't coming cheap. --------

I'm going to go ahead and post this to all the US presidential election threads since there's so many idiots who are confused.
You idiots in the US who think things will change are sadly mistaken. It wasn't a race between McCain and Obama / Old vs. New / More of the same vs. Change. It was a politician vs. a politician. Both sides told you what you needed/wanted to hear. The US won't be changing its form of government. We won't be leaving Iraq tomorrow. You won't get a rebate check tomorrow.
To you idiots in foreign nations, please don't start liking us again simply because someone new is sitting at the head of the table. We are still going to interfer in parts of the world that don't want us to. We are still going to use lots and lots of oil. We are still going to think our **** doesn't stink (most of us that is).
This isn't some new situation that we have never been faced with. Life will go on. Some people might be ****ed and some people might be happy, this is the case with every election. Now go back to work.

See, that's where you're wrong
In the US people who invest/ run businesses usually not only have to pay income tax, but also a % of the profit (capital gains tax.)
If you're in a higher tax bracket you could potentially be paying 25-33% of personal income in taxes + a fair amount of your new cash. I'm not sure what brackets the capital gains thing is divided into, though.
