problems are projectiles ;]
arty: ammo space + rof
acs:
low dmg + fighting in fall off, you can chose dmg ? Nope its always explo or kin split with something. high damage always have epxlo and kin in it.

Majority of the problem is that minmatar relies so heavily on falloff, whereas others do not. Even if the at optimal DPS numbers were the same, min is always fighting at around 50% falloff. In fact, tracking doesn't really start on ACs until you are near end of the optimal (which is short, besides).
Being able to kite in a 1v1 is fine, but this game is not really about 1v1s or soloing, it is about teams and squadrons and such (recent patch further enforces this).
A possible (incremental/initial) solution would be to make tracking computers and tracking enhancers increase falloff in the same proportion as optimal (and maybe increase sensor range a bit).
I think it is also pretty telling that a tempest at all V cannot fit 6 1400 IIs (or even 6 1200 IIs comfortably). I think increasing the PG on the ship itself would open a whole can of worms we don't want to go into (regarding Neuts and ridiculous tanks), so a more reasonable solution might be to reduce the actual PG on Matari Artillery to something more reasonable. |

I've flown pests for many a year & compared to other BS, they suck!! PERIOD!
If we were back in 2004 with only around 5k of users then the 1 v 1 argument would still hold but it doesn't (and hasn't for a long time now). 99% of the time, you engage whatever in what you hope is a 1v1 only for his/her buddies to jump in and spank you all over the place
The question is, why do they suck so much ? Simple really - they can do alot but just not good! This in turn leads to the problem of PvP. Why PvP is a ship which can sort of do everything but knowing when you come across another races ship, it can do it better ?
Here is just one area that requires looking into... First up, they need to look at the guns we use. EFT warriors will say "Yeah, but look at how much DPS they pump out" not taking into account we fight mainly in falloff + tracking issues & reload times.
Next problem you have - you buff the tracking / optimal / dmg to bring them more onto par with other guns & because they use no cap, this will lead others to start fitting projectiles onto other race ships.
Here's one simple solution - Increase the PG usage of all the guns (hybrid / projectiles / lasers) and then add a bonus to all racial ships which reduce the PG fitting for the correct guns.
E.G. Tempest/maelstrom/Typhoon - 50% PG reduction for Artillery / 75% reduction for AC's Apoc/geddon/abaddon - 75% PG reduction for Pulse Lasers / 50% reduction for Beam Domi/mega/hyp - 50% PG reduction for Railguns / 75% reduction for Blasters Raven/Scorp/Rokh - 50% PG reduction for Railguns / 75% reduction for Blasters
Think I've got them round the right way (it is early ya know )
Tweak all guns PG so they can fit on the correct ships with the new PG reduction bonus in place.
What this allows is for All guns to be tweaked where required & stops them becoming overpowered if anyone attempts to fit them to the wrong racial ship. Still means Mr nutter in an apoc can try & fit AC's if he so chooses but with run out of PG after fitting either the 3rd or 4th gun!
Now each race can only really fit their racial guns to their ships, projectiles can actually be tweaked & brought into par with the others (and vice versa for all other guns).
As for the rest ? This is turning into a novel.. it's too early.. i need coffee & nicotine so will let the rest of ya fight it out
May edit this for spelling errors, etc but meh.. If CCP actually listen then i'll be bloody surpised

Temp needs one more turret slot and it will be on par with other tier 2 BS. As of now Domi and geddon can both put out more dps and tank more, even phoon is better than it, all of which are tier 1. The only time you see tempests in PVP videos is when they get popped lol.

I rather like my 2 heavy neuts so personally I don't see how adding a turretslot would solve anything. The problem is more with the ammo itself and the fact that Minnie's tactics (speed&agility) are mostly lost on BSes.
They lack sturdyness and DPS which, in the case of BS, isn't made up for by sheer agility and speed. While in a 1vs1 scenario you can make up for that with neuts, some maneuvering and a low sig radius in fleets it doesn't really matter. We don't have a long range sniper, we don't have DPS and we don't have massive tanks.

Tempest is the worst fleet sniper at this point in time. Worst range, worst dps, worst armor hp.
