I mean, you only need to look at some of the fanfest pics to notice that most "hot chicks" around have (more than just) slightly yellow-ish teeth, and nobody actually minds (and for that matter, most europeans really don't mind/care that much about it, regardless of gender)... but almost every time I see some "party pics" taken somewhere in the USA, the vast majority of people there (girls and boys) have blinding white teeth, so white you couldn't possibly have them SO white naturally... I'd go so far as calling it "unhealthily white".
So... is it just my impression or is it really so ?

Naw, not just the Americans... Here in the UK, having white teeth is a must if you're in the "attractive" demographic.
Personally didn't know "UK" and "Attractive" could be in the same sentence.
Its all well and good but at the end of the day teeth arent naturally white, so when they market all these products as "restores teeth to their natural whiteness!" it should really be a sort of... light biege than ****ing stark white.
Each to their own, if you want teeth to signal ships into the harbour with, more power to ya.
Personally as long as mine don't fall out, I'm happy.
Then again the only thing I really give a **** about in the real world is the status of my bank account. That is literally it.

Long years of chuzzling as much red wine as I could get my greedy paws on mean that I will never be in the "so white they're a traffic hazard" demographic.
But as far as "natural" - no, ultra-white teeth aren't natural. Nor is shaving. Nor is having a haircut. So what?

Just looking at the big white smiles in all the stupid ads in US magazines makes me wonder if those people ever realise the difference between themself and the image they project.

America is obsessed with youth & beauty, has been for.. going on a hundred years now. Damn.
Anyway, by US standards I'm one fugly son of a ***** - complete with yellow teeth (my dental work's not *as* yellow, though the obvious not-as-yellow-as-the-actual-tooth facial fillings just add to the fugliness).
My abysmal RL charisma stat doesn't really bother me that much though, since people who prize such things tend to really, really annoy the **** out of me, and I wouldn't associate with them anyway.

20 people buying into that crap since they're insecure who then spend a bazillion on 'health' products to be with the cool crowd since you all have to be 'winners' as that's the american dream. They also buy special branded stuff, clothing, cars, bling and whatnot.

I brush floss and mouthwash 3 times a day.
My teeth still have a slightly yellow tint, even so, they are healthy and im damn sure those that spend hours bleaching will have their teeth fall out long before I mine.
Though even through this I havent gone to the dentist in atleast 2 years so they might not be as healthy as I thought, but dental being a ***** I dont know if I will be able to go any time soon either.

Meh, im english and 17. Im at college and all my friends have straight white teeth. Ok they may not be blindingly white, but you need expensive cosmetic treatment to get them that white. Just cos all the american celebs have their teeth blindingly white doesn't mean the rest of America does. A lot of the older generation in the uk have bad teeth, but the younger generation as a rule have perfectly acceptable teeth, probably the same standard as America imho.

To the rest of the world it seems like an unhealthy obsession and perfectly white teeth is viewed as vain to the rest of the world.
Lightly yellow teeth here and I prefer a cup of Earl Grey over pearly whites any day

Well, when I become President and actually have a voice in the decision-making process of my government, Ill be sure to let you know. Its amazing how easy it is for all you people to criticize my country when you lift a ****ing finger to do things yourselves. Yes, America has its downsides, but so does every country... America also has some of the best things going for it, and although some of the powers that be try to destroy things, there are other people in America that do nothing but contribute to making the world better.
And yes, maybe we will grow up someday, America is only about 250 years old, so give us a bit of time, how long have you guys been in business? And honestly, take a look at your own country's history and we will see who the real monsters really were.
