Balanced? No way!
Needs fixing.
I'm not sure which game you're playing, but in EVE a sensor booster 1 and sensor damper 1 both modify your targetting range by 50%. Ie. fitting 1 booster and being dampened by 1 damper should leave you with your normal lock range.
Not true, it works like this. 80km *1.5 (booster) * 0.5 ( dampener) = 80km * .75 = 60km ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

There's no need for tech II ECM's there might be tech II back up arrarys but I've been searching all over and i haven't found a tech II ECCM.

I think in overall, it is fine the way it is. Let's room for much tactic and mixed fleets.
I have to agree here. In the last major battle in U-QVWD both sides had massive ECM support, and nevertheless it worked fine for both BECAUSE of the mixture of Dampeners and ECM used.
You know, Dampeners are also a (if not the best) counter-module of ECM, especially on long range. A ship that can't lock you can't use ECM. Easy as it is. So in fact, 1 dampener is enough in fleet battles to make a ECM ship useless. So you have to decide, whether you wanna take the risc or not.
I like it the way it is now. Conram

Edited by: Grut on 07/07/2004 11:43:55 imo damps to be adjusted to only effect the boost given by sensor boosters, why? it insures you can still counter scorps jamming from 200km but removes a single scorps ability to damp 6 bs in a fleet battle
scorp 80km targeting range 200km ish with 2 t2 sensor boosters so 1 damp = 140km 2 damps = 110km.... back at range for lr guns/missiles
All in all not the greatist solution but it'd work
Currently sensor boosters are a better counter to cycle jamming then damps thats just messed up
Mostly harmless |

And when you are always outnumbered, and fighting superior forces, what happens is that they match up one scorpion per each of your ships. ECM in general, and dampeners ESPECIALLY, is way overpowered . . . didn't you have a blog about upcoming changes? I remember they were very good suggestions, making it random and all. IMPLEMENT THEM NOW! Also read this thread for more details on how sucky ECM makes battles right now . . .

Originally by: Ca0 Ca0 Sally what do you have against me? Dampeners are cheap, plain and simple, and they used tons of them. And no we didn't "lose" the battle in fact the other side warped away first. Nobody lost any ships, it was just the lamest thing that ever happened.

PS, it really is Cao Cao and not Ca0 Ca0 (my other account got perma-banned from the forums so I had to make this new char)
ROFLMAO at perma ban, I'll get me to there some day too.
As I said I don't have anything against you.
But your whining is still not good. We sometimes have 2-3 Scorpions with ECM mutlies in a fleet of 5-8 ships and our opponents rarely get a lock.
Now would you call that lame and cowardly too and ask for a fix? Ofcourse we are trying to warp scramble the people in order to kill them.
Since you didn't lose any of your ships, I can not see how this is overpowered. You know what to do when dampened. Sure, it's a bit of a mexican stand off, but well you know you can get them by warping right on top off them and locking them before they lock you. -- Stories: #1 --
