CCP make it happen!
What, like the wormhole incursions into sleeper space?
Capsuleers don't do incursions. We do MIGRATIONS. We don't attack in waves and then stop, we MOVE IN. We SETTLE. We harvest resources, bootstrap ourselves up to capital ships, and start farming the locals for their hull materials.
If a way was found into Jove space, the Jovians would leave. |

[quote=Ayuren Aakiwa]The fact that no jove characters have been updated with the new avatars(at least as far a I know) makes me think their not making any comebacks soon...[/quote
There were Jove characters in a recent Dev build, looked v cool (black eyes/blood veins and pale skin)
Templar One explains that the Enheduanni are a sister race of the Jove who lived in a VR state where time is considerably sped up so scientIfic/technologigal/military advances come much more quickly. The sleepers are the guardians of the Enheduanni - as with the Jove, are in a virtual battle with an entity called 'the Other'. The Jove genetic disease is from this ongoing battle. The Other is the entity that possesses Empress Jamyl via the salvaged implant technology from Falek Grange etc. etc. A great read, must be summarised properly somewhere
Given that the Jove have thousands of years on the empires, some of that in accelerated VR worlds, then it's unlikely that we would have caught them up in a century in normal time. I'd love to see the Jove in game but remaining impossibly advanced [;)

People don't summarise anything when it comes to the Jove, Sleepers etc.
Instead they expound, extrapolate, exagerate, and I'm pretty sure some of them are doing something else that starts with an e and ends in 'late.
Honestly, some of the stuff that gets posted about Jove makes Die hard Star Trek nerds look normal. |

Is this some code describing the formation of the Jove fleets on April 28th?
Because it looks like either a cipher, or some Burroughsian cut-up prose.
Either way, I don't want to fight the Jove.
If they show up, I'll be CJ'ing byebye.

Nice surmise Nova - +1 easter egg to you.
The Jove have been quiet for a very long time now. It was never fully explained why they tried to send a diplomat in the first place all those years ago and the retreat back into themselves, bar a few sightings of battleships, has never been fully explained. Sure the dipo ended up spread across the universe, but the Jove got most of him back. The capsuleers showing willing on their side yet the Jove just retreat and never retry a dialogue. Odd.
You are certainly right in the way our Tech has moved onward hugely since many of the 'incidents' involving Jove tech ships and capsuleers. The question though as to whether they have also moved upward is inconclusive and its conjecture to say not.
I think the question really is : Have the Jove succumbed to the illness.
After all its awful quiet out there nowadays. "caught on fire a little bit, just a little." "Delinquents, check, weirdos, check, hippies, check, pillheads, check, freaks, check, potheads, check .....gangsn++ all here!" |

Are you trying to say they're going to despawn Concord on Saturday 4/28 due to Jove contagions?

The Jove were never impossible to kill, in the battle of Van'koth it was not just 7 Jove ships, it was a lot of Jove frigs and I quote "The Jove countered with their smaller, faster frigates and cruisers" and it was finally their mothership that won the da
I will also point you to this text http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/The_Battle_of_Vak%27Atioth_(Chronicle) were it actually originates from, many Jove ships were destroyed that day, even being outnumbered they still did win... moral of this post... Jove ships are superior, but not unbeatable, they were they were using fast ships and the amarr was using battleships... we all know how that would end today |

I really hate redactions. Original text said 1 mothership (in the context it was just a mobile 'colony ship' and 7 'support' ships which hinted at being frigates.
This could be the result of historians trying to make it seem a less of a disaster, maybe because of the influence of technology creep making the 7 ship defeating thousands just seem less likely nearly impossible. So Amarr historians went back and 'corrected' the problem.
The other distrubing redaction was the number of amarrian ships that where sent to reclaim the Jove. The newest version declares two thousand. not the 10,0000 ship disaster.

Nova Fox wrote:Face it people Jove are no longer technologically superior to us. We surpassed them wtihout notice We are the authors to the future now
Our most advanced tech, our Strategic cruisers, can only be made through salvaging the technology we seize from the Sleepers. We still cannot create it from scratch, we are reliant upon what they left behind. We have not surpassed the Jove, we have simply shortened the gap in our capabilities.
I do not know if the Jove are still out there, it seems unlikely that they would all have died off in less than a decade since last formal contact. Are they still capable of being a power in New Eden? Who knows, perhaps not as they were. We know that the Jovians possess long life spans, despite the disease that plagues them. Their perception of time may have become quite different to our own, the passing of a decade might seem quite inconsequential to them.
If the Jove are truly gone, then CONCORD has likely chosen to suppress that information as it would weaken their authority over the other Empires. But if they are still out there, it would be very interesting to know what the Jovian Directorate has been doing all this time and why their Yulai embassy has been dark for so long, despite the authorisation of the Emergency Militia War Powers Act and the usage of Empyreans to fight a proxy war. http://uglebsjournal.wordpress.com/ |
