Edited by: Izaki on 09/01/2009 22:47:28 I have got this problem too since Quantum rise patch with the WiFi only, and I must refresh the market every 5 min in order to don't be disconnected :/ too boring in a fight.
Please fix it O-O
( I'm pretty this bug is already in the list of must fix but a little well-tested patch before the big patch of March should be nice )

I had the error often, then less often and then haven't had it for 4 days. In that time I have made changes to the MTU and removed a router. Good luck y'all.

Edited by: Shadow Lord77 on 10/01/2009 00:21:29 I uninstalled the client and went into cmd and reseted the winsock catalog, (netsh winsock reset catalog). Then after the restart I reinstalled the client and there wasn't any problem for a day as there was just twenty minutes before I uninstalled Eve. Then I booted it up this morning and after playing for three hours the server lagged out and I encountered this error "Failed to connect to transport.." I didn't catch it all because it went so quickly. After restarting the client the "Couldn't connect to Socket" was back.
I'll try to screen capture that error when I see it again.
There is definitely something that goes wrong in the eve client after some time. Try uninstalling and trying the command in cmd, and see if that buys you some time.

Still having problems.
3ISPs, 2 OSs, 2 different hardware setups, classic and premium graphics, with and without router.
Submitted pingplotter and logs, the reply was, "bug known, working on it".
Meh, cancelled my subscription a few days too late and I've paid up until March, my guess I'll stop worrying about getting it fixed by the end of Jan and request a refund, then demand one, then send a polite letter to consumer affairs Canada, then one from my lawyer.... |

I found a strange solution for this problem, an unusual way. I`m using ADSL modem for my Internet connection. Yesterday I have change setting. In ATM setting (WAN Configuration) I`ve change mode from Router to Brige. Then I create a new internet connection in Windows Control panel, set my internet login and pass - and voila! I can play now!
Sorry for my English. |

Over 45,000 players in New Eden yet alot can't stay connected or even play the game
does ccp give a f u c k ? doesn't seem like it, as this been going on since 10th december.
i can't take part in anything involving capitals, team work, launching drones,it just aint stable enough. Have resorted too killing 1 npc every 15 minutes, to bring my sec status down low enough so i can sell my character, Time too get my life back after 4 years
Thankyou for relieving me of my addiction

I posted this in the other topic as well, hopefully it helps:
Quote: Wow, very interesting.
I think i might have a bandage for this problem.
I've been getting disconnected every couple of minutes for days now, but i read something on this forum that actually helped.
If you have PingPlotter running in the background with "Unlimited # to trace", "2.5 Trace interval" and "1500 samples to include" settings on, while playing EVE, it does not disconnect. I guess the constant pinging of the server doesn't allow it to idle out. Whatever it is, it's working.
I've been playing for hours now without a single disconnect.
Yeah, it's not a solution, it's just a bandaid until CCP actually fixes this problem. But at least i can finally play this game.
Try it out and let me know about results.
Good luck :)

What ISP are you folk using? If you're using Comcast, you might want to consider switching to some other ISP. Comcast is doing funny stuff with their routers in order to stop "illegal" traffic, but it seems the folks responsible don't understand that the Internet is used for more than just browsing the web ;)

Using AT&T DSL. Never had a problem like this with it previously...

"Socket closed", & "connection to server lost". This happens about every 30 minutes to 60 mintes, ever since the latest patch was updated.
I love this game. I suggest the March rollout of the new version/ambulation be delayed until the system becomes stable.
These shutdowns occur when I am either 1] at a warp gate, and I get a "session change" note, then disco, or 2] in a station in the market browser. Perhaps it happened a few other places but 90% of the time it is when these two events are going on.
Please find a solution. The game is unplayable as is.

Just a little update:
My band-aid fix is now working successfully for the 2nd day straight. Not a single disconnect the entire day today.
I can finally play again :)

This has been a huge problem for me, especially over the last few days. At the moment i can't login and play the game for more than 5-10 minutes at a time.
I have tried the following :
Clearing the cache
Running Pingplotter with the noted setup
Neither has solved my problem and this is becoming frustrating
Im currently running XP ;-(

Either CCP was testing something, in that case: it worked. Or they werenŠt, in that case: it failed.

Just lost a ship in 1v1 due socket.. crashed 4 times in a row and last time i logged back in i was in a pod. Kinda tired to do this free beta testing to CCP, oh wait.. it's not even free, gotta pay for this testing!
7th Gm handling my petition at the moment and seems that the same loop started again. Seems that GM's doesnt eve read the other GMs responses at all since i basically got to tell everything over and over again to different GMs
Thanks CCP.

I just installed the ping plotter as I have had this problem too since the last patch. Was working fine for about 25 mins but then timed out again. Pingplotter says the connection that timed out has following address 85.90.226.05. Dont know what it is yet but if I find out will post further info. I have a wired router btw.
