I haven't had the opportunity to try out a mission yet so I'm wondering if anyone has done some extensive testing. Do javelin torps still get the job done? Is changing to dps/tank rigs and arby cruise missiles a better idea?

Javelin torp + target painter golem is still fine. Cruisers take a bit longer to kill. Use light drones for the frigates.

Golem is just fine, at most it'll take you a few minutes more to kill everything. Cruisers dotn die as easily to torps, BCs/ BSs same as before, frigates you use drones anyway. Javs also work as before, but do a tad less damage.

4x seige II (w/e ammo needed for mission 200 jav torps and 200 normal torps) 3x tractor beams
1x thon lg sheild rep 1x Gisti A type SBA 3x specific hardeners 2x best named painters
3x Caldari navy BCU 1x flux coil
riggs
1x rocket rigg I 1x hydrolic bay rigg I
drones
5x hammer heads II 5x goblins II
Implants set of low grade crystals
hard wirings
5% flight time 5% shield amount 5% explosion velocity
go have fun

Torp golem is still doing fine. It's damage output and with that kill speed is just on par with other races close combat heavy hitters now, and not way above as before.
- torp range was a bit shortened, lost about 4km for standard torps - dps on bs is about the same, dps on bc is lower (need more than one salvo now), while it obviously now takes a lot more salvos to take out the heavier cruisers. Either get used to it, or bring a mate with a HAC/BC who deals with them - light drones rip through frigates just fine
- frigates (maybe except the most sturdiest ones) are still killable with torps, it just takes you about 10-15 salvos now. Ofc you might want to use light drones, as they are like 20 times faster in de-assembling the enemy frig
- speed was cut, instead of 444m/s I now only go 373m/s, and as gang boni where changed even being in a gang cannot increase that number. Together with less range for torps it's the biggest cut in mission performance.
I still use my old setup and it works just fine:
4x Siege II 2x tractor beam 1x Salvager (train Salvaging to at least lvl 4 and 1 salvager keeps up with your killing and looting without problems)
1x 100mn Gist-A type Afterburner I 1x PWNAGE painter I 1x CN X-Large Shield booster 1x CN Shield boost amplifier 1x Photon scattering Field II 2x Invul Field II
3x CN ballistic controls 1x Power diag II
Rigs: 1x rocket fuel I 1x hydraulic bay I (both for missile max range, which with max skills is now somewhere around 34km)
Drones: 5x Hammerhead II 5x Hobgoblin II
Ammo: Javelin missiles standard torps (use faction if you still want to one-volley battlecruisers)
Omni-Tank is working just fine on a golem with good skills. No need to fit specific hardeners really. (Using non-faction hardeners also makes missions interessting as without the micromanagement I would fall asleep really. That's why I insist of permaboosting setups ^^) Just swap missiles according to enemy and there you go.
As for weapon grouping I would advise to use 2 groups a 2 launchers, as you often need like 6 torps for a bc or finishing a cruiser/bs etc and 2x 4 volleys would be wasting torps.
tbh, this patch also was a nice boost for the Vargur I suppose

Mid Slots: 3 * racial hardeners II (2 primary, one secondary) PWNAGE Target Painter Afterburner II Large SB II Best Named Heavy Cap Booster w/ 800s
Low Slots: 3 * Caldari Navy BCU 1 x Reactor Control Unit II
Rigs: Can't remember exactly, but it's one to increase missile flight time, other to increase velocity (going for max range)
Drones: Vespa IIs
Implants: None
And I've only got Marauders Level 2. With this I:
2-shot Standard frigates
1-shot Destroyers
3-4 shot Cruisers
2-shot Battlecruisers
wtfbbqpwn Battleships (esp. compared to Cruise missiles )
The only difference between this and pre-patch is that I don't one-shot frigates and Cruisers generally take one more volley now.
All in all, a balance that was very needed IMO. And yeah, sometimes you do have to cop a hit or two from the nerfbat. Suck it up and adapt. ---

My set up is from my own experience. Its like having 10 effective, full dammage torps hitting a target. Good fun. It tanks veary well. I even was crazy enough to take on the 8 1 mill plus bs in recon for a nice chunk of change

I have done some missions in my golem..
I am High SP with the whole missile tree maxed, and max skills for medium and light drones. BS 5 and all tanking skills for the golem to 5
I now have a cruise golem with regular cruise missiles and am steaming through missions as fast as pre patch. I do not use a target painter.
Golem w/ cruise is god

I wouldn't be so sure about that, seems that if the npc battleship is moving at all damage is reduced. I tried with 2xpainters and waited for BS to slowdown and orbit me such that his velosity was well below my explosive velosity (his velosity was 30 m/s). I was doing 1350.4 damage vs hull as opposed to 1736.2 which I did to buildings. I was under the impression that if his velosity was below your explosive velosity you'd do full damage, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
While I agree the torp golem is fine (especially w/2xpainters), I didn't expect damage reduction at such low speeds.

Seems like you havent tried it, 50% less dmg vs BS

uhm, I'm still doing pretty much my EFT on-paper DPS with a single target painter and crappy skills vs BS's, sounds like a personal problem to me _____________________
