I've seen opinions differ on pirating.
Some say that this is just a game. Pirating is OK.
Some don't care.
Others say that pirating in EvE is not any better than stealing in real life (Example: Real life- people steal something that you earned money for over time; Game- people destroy your first battleship, which took you 1 month of work to get)
Pirates themselves, for some reason, think that everyone they kill is a n00b- untill they get owned themselves.
What is your standing on Pirating in EvE? --------------

Holy hell, a Space Invaders sighting! Thought those guys were long gone.
Piracy sure, as for it being as profitable as industrial tychooning, get real.

I quote from teh back of my eve CD
Quote: CHOOSE A PROFESSION:
Dauntless fleet commander, or the most nefarious pirate ever to terrorize the galaxy - Be and do anything you'd never dare imagine
It's part of the game.
----------------sig---------------------------- Dtai'kai'-dte sa-de nau'gkon dtain'aun bpi-de.
if you don't wake up, i'll have to stop kissing you. all that flailing has made you sleepy. you rest while i untie you. stay here until they find you. My hand made mannequin. i won't let them get you. they'll know you're mine by the fingerprints on your throat. isn't she lovely? isn't she wonderful? like the *****s that we are, swatting flies from the wounds we design. |

Quote: What piracy? You imply that it would be pvp without consent and we don't have such things here.
You've obviously never been ganked with a mobile warp disruptor then.

The roleplaying aspect is a concern. CCP gave much attention to conflict between non-pirate factions, so emphasizing those in player activity gives us a richer RP environment. However I agree that piracy adds to the excitement and provides quite a deal of the daily challenge in the game, eliminate it totally and you would also reduce the RP/political richness of the game. (Not to mention nerfing many other PvP aspects in the process.)
However putting in RP would not hurt, are some pirate corps pro-Sansha or pro-Bloodraider? What is the difference between being ganked by M0o, FSJ or Sneaky Magic? Only thing one sees is some being better and some being not as skilled.
We seek the Chosen ones / Roleplaying in Eve / Idea Lab favourites

Pirating needs to be made more viable.
The risk of piracy gives EVE an edge over all the other games out there. Kill more carebears kthxbye.

Piracy is obviously OK, and anyone who thinks it has _ANYTHING_ to do you in real life need to get a grip and think more about it.
