I'm glad someones made this topic as theres scant infomation about this and everyone still seems more concerned with QR than voting atm, what would be realy helpful is a quick summary of each candidates views/issues. As Eva says theres alot of text to get through and alot of condidates.
EDIT: I still have no idea who I'm going to vote for. |

Too many candidates, it's like trying to vote if there were 50 political parties. I bet there won't be a landslide by anyone, I bet they will all be with +- 5 percent of each other.

With under a day of voting left, you should think about voting if you haven't already done so. I firmly believe that the CSM can make a difference in the longer term for players and helping to get player ideas to CCP for development. I'm committed to maiing it work, as are many other candidates running. Take the time to read what they are wanting to do, decide if they are running for the right reasons- but most importantly, vote for players that aren't running to catch CCP's eye for a job...
Take care, Arithron Vote Arithron for CSM! Check out my thread: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=899358 |

Sorry. Can't always please. Just be happy that this is a council that centers around the forum and doesn't have to meet in a small room IRL for their meetings

Sorry, sorry, of course Arithron had a part in that as well.
I just wanted to illustrate that there are CSM that care beyond their own interests. |

I abstained from voting because the candidates are terrible.
Some have absolutely no stand, issues, or information whatsoever and are just taking up ballot space. Others look like bad MySpace clones discussing their personal life, RL hobbies, physical description and everything yet nothing of EvE is mentioned. And the few that are sticking to the subject are listing EvE issues that I just don't care about.
All and all, none of the candidates give a damn about the learning cliff and entrance bar to EvE Online. So none get my vote. ___________________________________________________ The Escapist: EvE Online video review. |

I abstained from voting because the candidates are terrible. Every single one of them.
I'm sorry you feel that way. Personally, I think we have a fair amount of wonderful candidates that I would be most honored to serve with if I am elected, and who I would not mind being beaten by if I am not elected.
I'm also of the opinion that I'm a step or two up from terrible, but what can I say.
Originally by: Cyprus Black Some have absolutely no stand, issues, or information whatsoever and are just taking up ballot space. I often wonder why CCP let these people on the ballot in the first place. They stand for nothing, have nothing to say, and have zero interest in fulfilling the CSM role.
Other candidates look like bad MySpace clones discussing their personal life, RL hobbies, physical description and everything else yet nothing of EvE is mentioned. One would think they're running in a popularity contest.
Hey, that's democracy for you.
Originally by: Cyprus Black And the few candidates that are sticking to the subject are listing EvE issues that I just don't care about. Petty bickering of minor issues that really have little to no bearing on the game.
Given the wide diversity of issues candidates are campaigning about, I can only say that you must have a rather narrow band of issues you care about.
Eve is anything but narrow. Change one thing or another, and you will have bearing on the game, and on many other issues besides what you were directly addressing -- and many of things candidates have been discussing could hardly be said to affect the game in only minor ways.
Originally by: Cyprus Black All in all, none of the candidates give a damn about the learning cliff and entrance bar to EvE Online. An issue that should have been addressed and solved a long time ago. An issue that directly hurts CCPs wallet.
I must beg to differ here. I have indeed talked about lowering of barriers to new players (though admittedly most of the things I mentioned related to specific cases rather than in general), and it is an issue I certainly care about, since my alt is a member of Eve University, the largest player run corporation in Eve that has teaching new players as its primary goal.
Originally by: Cyprus Black So no. None of these jokers get my vote.
I'm sorry to hear that. But I guess that's your right. I don't see you running, though, if you don't think any of the current candidates are worthy.
Well, if you don't vote . . . you know what they say about not complaining. |

How large should it be?
I don't know about you. But I do empire industrial operations with a POS, I do low-sec piracy and from time to time I head into 0.0 and shoot at some people or go carebearing with exploration/missions. I have even spent hours defending a POS and campaign a gate.
How much of a bigger scope of view is there to get?

Keep in mind CCP does have a few things to do before verifying and certifying the results.
1) Ensure that Diebold machines played no part in voting. 2) Doublecheck all documentation provided by winning candidate. Can't have a CSM member that isn't legally allowed to travel to Iceland. Although I think maybe they should host quarterly meetings, rotating through their offices in Iceland, England, the US, and China. (Wouldn't that be a pain in the butt to set up? :) ) 3) Have to review server logs for evidence that proves votes are eligible for reimbursement legitimate and untampered. (They won't find anything.)
