Originally by: Nomakai Delateriel Seriously, every good Star Trek film/series had (at its core) a large dose of Sci-fi, where the movie explores current and future technological/social issues in a different context (in order to more easily illuminate the central problems without our pre-conceived perceptions of the problem being in the way). It looks like this movie replaced that part with more explosions.

the **** was that!? Thats not star trek! Just because the characters names are the same and the enterprise is in it, doesn't make it star trek. |

Some people would say startrek was best embodied by TNG and it's frankly brilliant at times exploration of humanity. Sci-fi with a heart and brains.

Looks cool.
No nudity in Star Trek? Well, it's certainly not usual but since I saw all the series and the movies I can tell you that it occasionally happens.

I am trying to find the words to express how bad Nemesis was and all I keep coming back to are various poo comparisons.
OK compared to what? The holocaust?

Search for "Star Trek Closer" on YouTube. I'd link it but it's NSFW.

Nemesis was a good action film. Though it also had a bit more philosophical mumbo jumbo than one expects from contemporary action. So it had good action and good content. So what was bad about it? Oh yeah, the story. Most nonsensical story ever? Probably. But hey, I can live with it for the extra action scenes which were inserted where the story should have been. -

Did someone really use "Nemesis" and "good" in the same sentence? Were you high when you watched it or something?
As for the trailer, I am not impressed. Yet Another Generic SciFi Action Movie does very little to change my opinion that Star Trek should have ended years ago. It's just sad watching the owners destroy every last happy memory in an effort to extract a little more money from the rabid fanboys. ----------- Blaster sig removed for now, pending those "changes we've been working on all day". CCP, don't screw this up.

OMG it's something different than the patterns in my brain recognize it's terrible. Star Trek is dead, leave it buried! Not a new concept on an old idea, what ever will we do, they have tarnished the good name of an already worn out franchise
You could cook some people a great meal and all they would do is cry how it wasn't like what their mom used to make or that the last time someone cooked that dish it was terrible.
Seriously, looks pretty good to me can't wait to see it. |

i gotta say i was happy w/ all the tNG movies.
why do people feel the need to go all emo over a franchise? i'm a star trek fan, always have been. -Watching the original series episodes is humorous and nostalgic at best. -The movies were nice but nothing after the first 2 were really spectacular. -Everything made for television (with the exception of the 5% of GREAT ST:tNG episodes) was mediocre at best.
People want to cry like someone just put ketchup on their filet mignon. It just isn't logical Jim. ------------------------------ everybody be cool this is a threadjack! just lay face down on the ground and no one will get hurt! |

JJA is more about Dilemma than just big explosions.
You can imagine him being all WHAT NOW?!?!? as he's typing the script.
He also has an unhealthy fascination with torture. Maybe they'll make a Romulan listen to "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins". |

Star Trek: fantasy TV show that have hollywood physics, repeative content and targeting to lowest common denominator of TV watchers. It is amazing that so big budget TV show totally fails to deliver anything worth of watching (except Voyager's Jeri Ryan).
Hello Hollywood!
Would you please hire someone who can actually write intresting SCIENCE fiction story with good characters. Instead of writer who just randomly adds intresting sounding terms from quantum physics books or just invents them from fly - or copy pastes characters and story line from Hollywood's cookbook. Also never ever again add child genius to shown (a.k.a. Wesley Crusher) - or preferably don't add child characters at all. It would be nice, if civilizations that Enterprises encounter would be bit bigger than one village, city or goverment. And how about bit different main characters than: captain, doctor, science officer, weapon officer, communication officer and engineer... those are bit boooooooring after 5 shows...
oh heck... I could continue this list couple more pages... |

Could have been worse. Based on his last film I expected this Star Trek to be shot from the POV of a camcorder belonging to a crew member who was trying to make it to engineering while the ship was under attack.
I do wonder what is with them being so young though. Stargate is doing the same thing for their next spinoff. Next thing you know we'll be getting into the Anime style and have 13-year-old captains running around. |

Well the idea I think is that Kirk and Spock are cadets, so it makes sense for them to be in their young to mid 20's. I'm assuming (and hoping) that the other officers are older and don't look like they just graduated highschool.
My bet is that "OMG THE CAPTAINS DEAD" happens and "KIRK TO THE RESCUE" shortly follows. -Zyck |

Lafiel = Genetically engineered warrior princess/captain. Haruhi = Cuthulu.
I think we know who is superior
That said I haven't finished watching Banner yet, I have my copy of Crest on my shelf.... though methinks I can see them doing something like that in series 2, I mean whatever she wants to happen happens so...
