Originally by: HankMurphy OMG it's something different than the patterns in my brain recognize it's terrible. Star Trek is dead, leave it buried! Not a new concept on an old idea, what ever will we do, they have tarnished the good name of an already worn out franchise
You could cook some people a great meal and all they would do is cry how it wasn't like what their mom used to make or that the last time someone cooked that dish it was terrible.
Seriously, looks pretty good to me can't wait to see it.
You need glasses then. Or a better brain.
That meal you're going to cook actually has to be good for your analogy to work. It only takes the first 25 seconds of that trailer to see what utter crap that movie is going to be. The rest of the trailer just re-affirms it. |

Yes Enterprise was crap but whats all this Voyager bashing, it lasted for 7 series and had a huge fanbase, plus it did alot of stuff not seen in ST before, having a strong Female captain for one. I hope in this new film they'll continue to push the boundries.
Just watched the trailer, finaly a vaguely nice looking captain. |

Are you familiar with the concept of watching a trainwreck?
Let me say this, in one episode they took the problem of being stuck as being a man trapped beneath ice looking at his own relflection. Okay, lets go with that. Janeway takes it as fact and tells them to blow a hole in the event horizon to escape.
Blow a hole in the Event Horizon.
I rest my case.
I remember that from a video review that was oh so hideously apt at pulling apart Voyager, please look at where it comes in the scale of Sci-Fi hardness. Only slightly above Haruhi - and Haruhi is meant as a comedy and beneath Red Dwarf |

Voyager had a great premise, which they abandoned after about 2.5 episodes, and some excellent single episodes, buried among poor TNG-clones and soap opera imitation.
I liked it when I was a kid, but as I grew older I came to like TNG and DS9 more and more, and hate Voyager more and more. -

I can be totally wrong offcourse. But somehow it felt like the Transformers movie or terminator 3 if you get my point.

If its Sci-fi im going to go watch it . BSG was rebooted and it turned out pretty good I think . The one thing that always bothered me about Star Trek movies was they didnt have enough budget to really throw money at the CGI. JJA doesnt have this problem , he had a HUGE budget for this movie. Ive watched Star Trek since I was a kid , every series and movie whether good or bad ive watched. If they have to change some things to get the franchise rebooted im not going to cry and stomp my feet screaming "Thats not ST" .
Hell I play Eve give me space battles and things going boom and im probly going to like it in a movie

"SPOILERS* My summary of the new BSG, copypasta into notepad for my epic insights.
Cylons: We have returned to attack you for vague reasons Humans: We will run away Cylons: We will chase you while making vague allusions to some kind of religions awakening Humans: We will go to Earth, following interesting semi-spiritual plotlines Cylons: Actually we will not chase you any more for reasons Humans: Actually we're not going to earth anymore either Cylons: Ah, we have found you, we wish to be your friends, so we will oppress you Humans: Look, we are like the middle east. How edgy and relevant we are. Now we have escaped. Cylons: Why will you not accept our friendship? Now we must chase you again. Humans: Did you leave your religious overtones on new caprica BTW? Cylons: Ya, next to any detailed reasoning you had for believing in earth Starbuck: STFU, I found earth! Humans: Weren't you dead? Some Cylons: NO JOHN, WE ARE THE HUMANS *drama* Some humans: NO JOHN WE ARE THE CYLONS *drama* Audience: **** off
It would have been great, had they continued making the same series after season 1. -

LOL very witty made me laugh
that was pretty funny (and accurate) that said, i still love the piece of ****.
i guess you could say loving BSG's last couple seasons is kinda like dating a really hot chick that always puts out... but she drinks too much and screws around on you.
maybe that's why i think I'll love this new star trek. most scifi is bad if you look close enough, but i still love scifi. I'll take what i can get, beggars cant be choosers
also, thats the second terrible analogy i've made in this thread. for those keeping score at home ------------------------------ everybody be cool this is a threadjack! just lay face down on the ground and no one will get hurt! |
