my single client works better now, i don't deny that you have performance issues, but haven't noticed any yet.
Jita became much faster for me and 150+ missions hubs are playable now.
my PC is a hi end one, C2D E8500 3,16 Ghz / 4 GB DDR II 1066 Mhz / Gigabyte MB with x48 chipset / Nvidia 9800 GX 2 (2 card in one slot). Windows Vista x64... DSL internet.
for me the game became faster... i use no cache, disabled pointless windows services and i do not use paging file. Graphics is ok at 60-120 FPS at 1920x1xxx. Market has become more responsive as well as local and all chat channels.

Originally by: Plim Of course we should all go out and buy super computers simply because one EVE patch is making inefficient use of system memory
I'd hardly call 2G of ram super computer,m to be honest these days I'd barely call it average. You couldn't buy a pc with less ram unless you built it yourself, bought second hand or bargain basement ex-stock.
That said I agree with the sentiment.
If there is an issue then it should be fixed. Personally I've had no problems at all with QR and stability. I haven't noticed a memory leak, although I notice the patch notes said they had fixed one.
A few people I play with have however seemed to be crashing more regularly.
I'd like to see people hold off on the OMG the world is ending crap, and I'd like to see CCP saying they are investigating the issue seriously. Dae.

I'm having several issues too, the client needs like 1-3 seconds to do "anything" like fitting a module or opening a window as evemail. Is frustrating to wait 2-3 seconds for each weapon you want to load ammo in my ship. ________________________________________

I'm amused that there are people suggesting we all buy new computers to deal with a minor patch. If my computer can run Crysis on high @1900 rez, Eve should run flawlessly in MOST situations. That's a minimum demand a paying customer should be willing to accept.
Pre patch, Eve ran really nicely for me. I mean that. Lag was nearly unoticible, menus quick yada yadda yadda.
As soon as QR went live, I have menu hitches all over the place, lag's back with big fangs and I'm rebounding all over the place, my UI is worse than ever etc. I have 3 gigs onboard so I don't seem to see the effects of a memory leak, but my Eve went from Great (post StacklessIO, pre QR) to Poor (post QR).
Either CCP needs to make an official post explaining that they are aware of the issues and working on a fix, or they need to turn off whatever data collection stuff is lagging the crap out of the cluster.
And they need to do it very soon, or threadnoughts will happen again (joy) and CCP's inadequacies will get publically outed (again). You'd think they'd have learned by now to at least tell us when they know something's gone off the rails. |

Edited by: Morgon Borga on 18/11/2008 00:27:23 I've also noticed a degradation in my gameplay post QR. I run a high-end dual core DDR2 system with 4GB of RAM. After 2-3 hours of gameplay, one of the two clients I run will begin to have major lag. Eventually, I have to restart both clients and occasionally restart the computer to resolve the lag, albeit temporarily.
This tells me that QR is horribly inefficient with memory usage and they need to address the problem. It's becoming a frustration to run two premium clients when I was able to run three premium clients pre QR.

Another voice to the chorus. Identical problems for me ... Lag and menu slowdowns after a couple hours of play on a rig that far surpasses the recommended stats. A reboot does the trick. A patch would be better.

Edited by: Mallikan on 18/11/2008 03:13:46 WinXP 32 Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33 @ 2.65 4 GB 800 DDR (yes I know it's only 3.5 GB in 32-bit) GeForce 9600GT Reliable cable connection at 6mbps or 600 kb/s.
I have noticed a few random crashes to desktop since QR. Some stuttering issues after extended play, CPU load is the same as always, RAM usage is up. Market modification in Dodixie is normal, but market modification in Jita is.. oh nevermind, that's not relevant here. ;) But seriously the stuttering and slight pauses here and there are annoying, but not game breaking in my situation. The few CtD's I've had are QR related since I am not experiencing the same issue in other games (aside from that dreaded source engine crash I can't get rid of). Overclock is stable and all that good stuff. The strange thing is that when EVE crashes it looks like two clients are open and performance slows to a crawl. Tons of drive activity.
Odd.

I've been having a lot of issues since QR as well, have posted them on the Issues and Workarounds page (tried submitting bug reports as well but I've come to the conclusion bug reports are a pointless waste of time - mine *always* get filtered no matter how many logs / dxdiag / screenshots I attach).
Anyway my ISP is already pretty bad (satellite ftl, 3 more months....) and the additional UI lag has pushed Eve into unplayableness for me.
So I'm training skills whilst I wait on a patch. Hopefully be this week. |

Add another person to the list for the 2 client lag problem.
I run an older system, but like the others, I was running 2 classic clients pretty well pre-Quantum Rise. Jumping from system to system POST-Quantum Rise now lags out with 2 clients(about 10 seconds to load new system). FYI, the old trick of bringing up the starmap to see the eve universe to increase frame rates no longer works.
Also, noticed whichever client is on top in windowed mode seems to have a higher priority than the windowed client behind the top one. You may be able to reproduce this yourself by warping to a planet on your second client and immediately bringing your other client on top. Both clients are at a lower resolution than my desktop, so I can see the client behind the top one and see it lagging like crazy.

I dunno what everyone is whining about...
I for one find the new Fleet Warfare Simulation Feature to be very realistic.
Now even solo pilots can enjoy the feeling of 'being there' in a epic mass fleet battle.
Stackless I/O?
How about some Suckless I/O next time?
