So is there ever going to be an EVE Motion Picture made? 'cause I keep watching the trailers for the EVE expansions over and over again because of how awesomely made they are, especially Empyrean Age and Quantum Rise.

It'd be 6 hours of gatecamping followed by 5 minutes of the same frame over and over until you spawn in a station, the end. ---- DOMINIX IS INVINCIBLEBLUE:(((( |

That was fun the first time it was used in this kind of thread, The n:th time it's used is just as boring as the n:th time this thread is made. |

I always thought that this movie shows pretty much how an eve gatecamp goes on and on and on. Even has all the normal things like the afk hauler, the cloaker with desync and lag.

To appeal to the masses -- including non-gamers -- and tell a story in two hours, it would have to be set in the universe but have a small and strong cast of characters. One reason I think a movie like Serenity tanked in theaters is because it only appealed to those who knew the show and had too many characters to get to know within a short time frame. Likewise, Eve has so much backstory that needs to be digested before it can be thoroughly understood and enjoyed in a theater setting.
I'm basically saying that I don't think Tony Gonzales' broad ensemble of characters in his novel would work in such media, as an example. Singular narratives in his book such as the adventures of the Retford do. There's just too many perspectives to explore in a single feature-length. That's part of what makes Eve great, but it also makes any time constraints problematic for writers and directors.
We also must consider that only a quarter of a million people potentially play this game. So it just doesn't have the following yet that's necessary to get such a project approved by major studios.
I think Eve products should stay interactive wherever possible. The customer can become as immersed in the universe as they choose to be.
I say all this with exception, though. Those narratives I talked about should be told. They can be told through books, comics, short films, machinima and the like. Cheaper, more targeted media. By telling the stories those immersionauts (not just roleplayers) learn more about the world. The stories should be told to those audiences receptive to science fiction who know that the tales are not all about spaceships and pew pew and Scotty, but about struggle, love, hope, and war; timeless themes. I think the best way for CCP to approach mass media is to make new audiences raise their eyebrows in Eve's direction, rather than try to unravel an epic and force it in the face of someone who may not be receptive. They certainly did that with TV commercials. |

Abrams doesn't ring a bell, but omfg, getting Boll and Night together for EVE would seriously make me /wrist!!!
I can live with Campbell, provided he gets to play a lowlife Caldari that gets killed at the beginning of the movie

I hope they never make a movie because it would suck terribly, just like the trailers (oh, shelling Empire stations? super weapons better than the DD? giant fleets in formations?) and the let's-make-up-new-stuff-and-have-utterly-amateur-editing-and-plot Novel.
What does any of that have to do with the Eve we play? Nothing. At all.

If they did a kind of pre-EVE movie. A show based on the days just before the gate collapses. Show the Amarr before they became the Amarr, the religious zealot comolizing a planet. A nice way to flesh out background and introduce people to EVE at the same time.

I'd agree on that. Many of the new players joining don't even know what the Eve-gate is, so a movie on the bg of the game whould ruin nothing and possibly make the whole universe in the game more understandable to many.
Also, a movie based before the playerinteraction started could actually involve the Jove that so many wanna see,, and could hence (maybe via containing the battle at Vakh'atioth) show the noobs why they DON'T wanna "have a whack at some pew-pew with da jove".

Lighten up mate. Ev'ryones entitled to an opinion on what could benefit the game, and though we might disagree, there's no need for childish smacking and harsh words.
