I started EVE on release day. Back in the day we used to farm NPC spawns in 0.0 space for mega cash and hundreds of cans of decent loot. In a given day you could sit in a 0.0 belt, just you and your A.D.D. and kill NPCs for hours....often having to call in help for more ammo and assistance in stopping the spawn rate.
THEN the first update came. HOLY FLYING MONKEY TURDS! The whole game changed. Warping into a belt meant 8 NPC cruisers were going to instantly spawn RIGHT NEXT TO YOU and each one hit like a Dread. I have never seen so many Battleships lost so quickly. My corp tried to mine in a 0.0 belt and lost 3 Battleships and every single industrial that entered the belt. CCP had the AI cranked up on smack. EVEmail was down, Bookmarks were unmakable, and NPC cruisers had mad mad hit points. The complaints were deafening.
So enjoy QU and thank your lucky stars.

Oh how I LOLed
I played in beta, and back then you had constant automatic ISK income, and whenever you fought another player each client made it look like their player had won, only synchronising with the server again after there was no risk of breaking the illusion. And there were no forums, so when the devs added actual loss to EVE, we had to go to Iceland in person to make our complaints and threaten to quit.

So because in the early times of Eve when there was an expansion things would be real bad, but becase they aren't as bad as that now we should be happy? STFU
I hate whines however I also hate paying for a product which for the last few days has meant that I have missed out on alot in Eve. Yet I am still paying for it and as far as I am aware CCP have not accepted there is a problem publically.
When people pay for a product i.e. Eve, and it is defective then people have the right to complain, I am not moaning on about how my missiles suck so I have to adapt, or how my ship is so many ms slower than before etc, I am complaining about how my Game soesnt ****ing work properly, and I have been given no indication of how long ccp think it will be before it's resolved.
No I don't need any cheese to go with my whine, I won't be suspending all my accounts, I won't be giving you my stuff and I am posting with my main.
Just don't complain about people whining when it's one of those rare occasions where they have a right to complain. |

To put it quite frankly, some people take gaming way to seriously, sit back and enjoy the game. Don't be n_a_z_is about every detail you don't like. [I was surprised that the word with the '_' in it is counted as profanity] I personally believe they have done a spectacular job from what it used to be years ago. Further more, a 400 man company isn't that massive for a game of this caliber; that's counting the janitors, the errand boy, the working mom that makes them hot coco when it blizzards. dang I got off topic... anyway, they can only do so much at one time. Cut em' some slack

Edited by: Major Templar on 16/11/2008 10:58:00 Edited by: Major Templar on 16/11/2008 10:57:36 I still don't see why people are complaining. Seriously people, I know your ships don't take them out in 2 shots and now you have to fire 4 but still, people, they are doing as good as they can really do. I mean, if they listened to every complaint, everyone who wanted something special, well you would have people flying around in pink hello kitty Ravens shooting rainbows out of their guns. (Just an example.)
The only complaint, and I mean only one right now that I'm having (I don't give a crap about the stupid missiles people, I'm Caldari and switched my ways over to nothing but rails, less effective and my missile skills don't count but I don't care) but my only complaint is the lag. I try to log into the market place and I get some extreme lag. I will be sitting there blasting away at some NPC cruisers and as I'm doing that I'm picking out a new weapon or new ship and I hit lag. Next thing I know is I have blown up like 4 NPC ships and I didn't even get to see the explosions. See, missions are still so easy that I'm shopping for parts and picking out rugs and what not on the market while I'm running them. Just deal and get over it.

I can only rarely connected to eve at the moment. When i do it just chugs like anything, so i just train skills...sucks to be me...
I only started Eve a couple of weeks before the patch. Enjoyed the game so i upgraded to a paying account. Right now i'm mega bummed cause i can't even play. Can anyone offer any advice/thoughs as to what CCP will do about the faults with the latest patch. I have been reading a lot of complaints in the forums, regarding lag/loss of connection to tranquility?
I though patches were meant to improve the game by evening up stats, providing new sectons/items in-game not reducing the connection quality of the game.

people are paying for a service, that entitles them to complain when that service is not working properly. in the case of people complaining about the server not working right, thats a justified complaint as the service is being interrupted. That means the service they are paying for is not being delievered but the cash for the service is being taken in full.
when my cable goes down the company is going to hear about it. just like most services out there, they will refund or extend the account by the amount that was lost due to THEIR problems. its moronic for anyone to think that because the product is good that no one should dare raise a legitimate complaint against it.

The problem with legitimate complaints is that everyone, no matter how ignorant, has one.
Three days after patch deployment, unless the issue is an actual bug, then people are only complaining about a superficial negative impact upon their playing style, and not any indepth understanding of new game balance.
Eve changes more often than my socks and while each change may be loved or hated in itself each change is on the road to more ideal gameplay, and to those that think this patch is gamebreaking don't expect anything more than puppy eyes and the bottom lip from those of us that lived through Exodus.
The OP's point that most lack the knowledge to be taken seriously, and if they do they lack the experience to get any sympathy, is spot on. |
