Hmm. I wonder if the person RANSOMING me is a person of honor and integrity? Yes I definately need the UI to answer this question for me.
Again, keep this going. This is hilarious. |

If I get caught by a pirate, I'd much rather take the insurance and the lesson and walk away.
Paying the ransom is useless. Read C&P. No one honors ransoms. Pirates make fun of people who do. It's all about the kill points, since no one gives a crap about the isk anymore.
Seems to me that if pirates "understand the value of a ransom", you should be hunting other pirates.
After all, the pirates are the ones who made ransoms a thing of the past. |

i think you are mixing real pirates with wannabe fgot pirates...
REAL pirates (like me for instance) honor ransoms, we're just a bit rare
People i hear about in my low sec area that don't honor ransoms i will hunt and destroy if possible as often as possible. (sadly, those people tend to be way too many to cleanse the area of)

Euhm yeah, everyone who has GCC/is -5.0 or lower is an active pirate for me. Then you can split it in the 99% who doesnt ransom at all but shoots at everything that moves, the 0.99% which does ransom and then shoots you, and the 0.01% which does honour ransoms.
Still the same result: Unless you know the pirate/his corp does honour ransoms, you are stupid if you pay. (allthough even if i would know they do honour ransoms i still wouldnt pay). |

Well said! Pirates have no honor, don't believe any of their "oh lookee me, I am such an honest pirate" crapola. |

If a player wants to lose a cap ship because he knows you will be disappointed at the loot, that is his or her fair right. If a player wants to pay ISK to save the trouble of having to buy a new ship, that is his or her fair right as well.
It all depends on how much ransom you ask. If you ask for an ammount that is more than what he will drop or what he would lose after insurance is payed back...well I would just roll my eyes and lose my ship too because I would know you'd get ****ed off over it

Piracy and getting a ransom out of someone should be completely down to a corporation, their reputation and everything they've done to be known as a corporation who honors ransoms.
Adding a mechanic is just feeding pirates ISK on a plate. I whoeheartedly disagree with the concept and think it's best left alone.
People should have to work for their ISK, and face the consequences of their actions.
You mean you used to pirate? Go back to running missions chump and leave the discussion to the big kids.
