So a friend of mine comes on steam chat talking about how AFs are now imbalanced, able to take on any other ship with ease, and can apparently tank gate guns now (lol?) He tested an AF against some ships (Cruiser I think) and thus ignores everything else I said.
He refused to post on S&M himself (because apparently you're all "Idiot carebears" in this forum) so I'm doing it for him.

he probably just lost a expensive ship to alittle ship cause he couldnt track or do enuff dmg with his seige launchers and blaming it on the game like all other dumbdiks do, tell him to use his thing at the center of his head and try sht and stop whining like my ***** when I dont have sex for a few months.

Tell your friend he's an idiot. AF's functioning in something resembling a useful and cost effective role does not mean they are overpowered.
Of course, functional and cost effective seem to mean overpowered to the nerf brigade.
I recommend hitting him with a bat until he realizes that crying for a nerf every time something ends badly for him makes HIM the carebear. Or until he stops saying stupid things. . . whichever comes first.

well if He lost a intie to a af, 1 hes sucks at inties or 2 he forgot to run away from af cause he doesnt know how to fly an intie or know the limits or all of the above tell him to pick choices why he is horrible at this game

I killed a raven before with a ishkur a yr ago(maybe alittle more than that) but the raven didnt have a all around ship killing fitting so as my first post Bc was a dumbass or didnt have the right fitting for the small frigates. |

I've seen and helped take down BC and BS with AF's well before the current patch. I don't think that they are in any way overpowered, but I do think they are finally filling their role a lot better.
I've gone through a ridiculous number of AFs attempting to take down ships that I shouldn't be able to take down. And now it has finally gotten to the point where the ship will be useful for something other than an easy level 2 mission running ship 
Now I just need to find a carrier pilot who only carries fighters like the last one I tackled in my Hawk  |

And smartbomb harpy fleet. (I did this in a lvl 1 mission for a laugh believe it or not)

BC vs. AF
Did this today. ****tily fit BC, but was pretty lol.
So far, I've only had problems from other AF's. They've become quite fun to fly instead of flying coffins.

tell your "friend" that just because he suck and occasionally gets lucky against some LOLfit BC doesn't mean something is overpowered or overnerfed.
I suggest he takes an Orca, and sticks it where the sun don't shine.... as painful as it may be, I have a feeling he can pull it off.

considering the costs and outcome of fights AS are actually underpowered
pilot who knows what he is doing will still rip you in a 1vs1 with larger ships.
but they can be strong sometimes. had fight today vs deimos and his falcon buddy in a FW plex. fight lasted long cause of the jamming, the destruction of the deimos was a sure thing, till rats were close enough to make me pop fast. my militia buddies got him later ^^

If the AF happens upon a standard cookie-cutter BC/Cruiser (rail Ferox, HPL Harbinger etc.) it will probably win.
If a BC/Cruiser pilot knows there are frigs around, it is prudent to swap a mid to an extra web or use assault launchers instead of heavies and such.
Bigger is no longer ALWAYS better and I personally thank CCP for that. There will probably be some tweaking in the months to come, but I think the general idea of small ship + lots of time ≥ bigger ship will remain.

if you can jump ontop of a cruiser/BC before he locks you, you may have a chance. if he can lock you before you are in range (with sensors booster or he was just too far away), he can mwd away to reduce transversal and pop you fast.

A few t1 frigates can kill a BS if they do it right.
1 skilled AF killing a newb fit / newb skilled BS hsa been done to death. Pre patch at that. |

Ships you mentioned to not carry missiles (and lolrailferox you could always solo in anything if you got close), and assault launchers do not force AFs off. What does the job are medium neutralizers however (two of them).
ECM drones (on a turret BC) will win vs solo AFs, since they enable you to stick at range and kill them.
Dual webs don't work for a cruiser/BC if a AF gets the jump on you.
Use ECM drones and/or neuts.

You can kill just about anything with just about anything if the other guy is stupid enough. I've killed AFs recently, and it was relatively easy too.
