OP: Yep this seems like a good idea to me. I have only ever had one account myself, but I think I would be willing to pay a few dollars per month to have another character training skills up.
Ouro: What are you even complaining about? I honestly don't understand what your beef with CCP is... you talk about a 'swathe of cash grabs' by them, what are these exactly? Also, just to be clear, you totally failed to prove your point about CCP advertising ghost training as a feature. Keep pwning him Tippia. |

Just had to be one idiot who did not understand what people are on about and reduce it down to money...I can afford 10s of EvE account if I wanted, question is why would you want to?
This is all about fun and having 2 characters + in my eyes defeats the point of why you play, just taking the game too far and taking it too serious, 1 account each would encourage people to group more, I.E carebears and PvPers.
I refuse to pay for another account because if it has come to the point where people NEED to have more than 1 then CCP need to take a look at the future of the game.
Now if someone had 2 accounts but those 2 accounts could not interact with each other or people could not dual client then that IMO would be ok, I mean where does it stop? I bet some people have a stupid amount of accounts lol, and if it is not for the means to make REAL money then it has to be said....it's pathetic. |

Originally by: Ranger 1 Now lets compare, what do we both have?
We both have two accounts with 6 months of training on them each. If we go head to head, we are on equal footing as far as skills go.
The only difference is you paid a fraction of the price I did.
Oh hell no.
You forget you also had a hauler, scout, cyno-alt, tackler, spy, salvager or whatever else you used the account for, for those 6 months.
No I did not forget that. My point is that 6 months later, Shazam, you suddenly have all of those as well... for a fraction of the price.
If you can't understand that, you probably never will.
when the brain eating aliens from outer-space invade, you'll be safe.
Thank you for your useful and insightful contribution to this thread. Lets put this in more practical terms. You and I both have a main character that is the breadwinner industrial character, we also have a second account for a PVP skilled character. I play and pay for both accounts. You play your main and keep training the PVP account to use if you happen to get into a war. At the end of that year we both have an account with a decently skilled industrialist to keep the isk flowing. About that time we become involved in a war with each other so you upgrade your second account to full status. After the war you'll down grade the PVP account again to keep training.
What do we have? We both have two equally trained characters. Your industry and your PVP characters are equal in every way to my own.
The difference? You paid a LOT less than I did.
In the original proposal you can keep 5 accounts training for the same price as the 1 account that I actually play.
See the problem now?
The ways that this proposal could be exploited are many and varied, but lets not delve into waters to deep.
I'm not even going to go into CCP's viewpoint on their game other than to say they made the game to be played, not to be a training simulator. They could probably make a bit more money in the short run if they did as the OP proposes, right up until people got fed up with it and stopped playing.
Pay for the account or accounts you can afford, and quit looking for a cheap way to get a leg up over the others that do exactly that.

ISK is just as powerful as SP, so you are much better off than the dude who only actively played with one account (provided you actually did something with your alt to help out, and if you didn't then why weren't you ghost training since it was available to everyone?)
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

This isnt a bad Idea really, but what you have to remember like others have already said , why would CCP want $3 a month when they can have $34 ?
After all, firstly and foremost this is a BUSINESS .. SO revenue and profits will always come before the customer regardless of wethers there SERVICE is affordable or not.
This is why it makes me laff when people here say "Its only a game" because that isnt totally true is it ?
Oh and one last thought... IF you really want CCP to apply changes to the services and prices you need unity from all the player / customers and it would probably take a mass boycott of there services or a significant dent in revenue for them to even comtemplate making these changes. ( this is probably why 30 day GTC's are back via the plex cards)
1. Business Needs 2. Profit & Revenue 3. Customer ( yep were at the bottom of the prority list lol )
Oh and can I just assure people who read my post that this is not a rant ... im in a much better mood today

Yes. It give a income for 0 cost so it is reasonable.

All Market Orders Canceled Stop Building Jobs
No on both: they both require resources to be started and don't require any activity even from a active player.
Originally by: Jinx Barker
This would be fair, and would really make people who pay for their accounts benefit.
The fairness part is valid for the RP, but not for the sell orders or build jobs. They both require isk and resources (the minerals or the items to sell) to be started, so cancelling them will be a net loss for the player, even if its account did lapse for events independent from his will (problems with the credit card payment on CCP side, as has happened several times or simply connection problems as sometime happens).
To add problems, for build jobs it would require the return of the construction materials in the player hangar, something that cancelled jobs today don't do.
Not changing that would start a incredible quantity of petitions every time the subscription was lapsed for reasons not dependant from the player.

I did not renew two alt accts following the Ghost Training Nerf.
I'd be willing to pay a reduced price to "ghost train" though.
Can't speak for everyone, but CCP is losing revenue from my inactive accts.

They've already done the math and don't care about that, c/d?

I have several problems with your arguments: 1. It's idiotic to ask for other people to pay more. Instead you should ask to pay less for your accounts, just like the others do (that's if you care about your money ofc). 2. You pay for entertainment, not for skill training. If you pay just for training skills then you might have Obsessive-compulsive disorder .

If this was to go through the way to prevent the scenario Ranger 1 pointed out how about having the training on the unactive paid accounts train at their base skill point level? No bonus from learning skills or implants.

I expect to pay the price I agreed upon for my gaming experience. I don't expect special deals, or 1/5 cost training. If CCP throws out a special deal, I'd rather expect it to make good sense and be one that is not easily exploited.

Thank you for making my point for me, I could not have said it better myself.

Oh I agree completely it is a buisness first and foremost but I have to wonder exactly how many accounts are currently unsubbed because ghost training was removed and how much money CCP could recieve by telling players to kick them a 5er to just resume training on those accounts for a month or so.
Granted there is a large number of things that could be done with a Ghost training ETC but based on all the complaints and the way the GT issue was handled this might help CCP save some face.
I mean, for arguement sake if there are 250k subs and 50k of them were GT'ing but had to stop, if CCP were to impliment something like this that would be an additional 250k USD bring brought in monthly as opposed to not being brought in at all.
Again, CCP is a buisness out to to make money, nothing wrong with that, but if CCP were to do something like this in these economicly troubling times it would help both them and their players continue to enjoy eve in the way they like to. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:
