Hey player don't always blame CCP about that!!![Evil or Very Mad](/images/icon_evil.gif) ![Evil or Very Mad](/images/icon_evil.gif)
Use your brain a little bit!Firtsly if you PC has 1GB of RAM memory then you should stop playing EvE in this computer! To your info: 1) as i am a programmers friend, Vista consumes 700MB out of 1GB RAM memory! this causes the pc to run slowly(especially in fleet battles)! 2) your PC may not be of the best there are nowadays 3) since EvE online is MMO you are constantly online. As a result the pc may automatically start downloading updates, so as for the antivirus! 4) a virus may have passed through your antivirus and caused system damage 5) the antivirus may have started an automatic scan 6) your RAM may be broken/corrupted(do a system scan before the pc runs the windows when turned on to find out)your graphics card may be outdated! 7) turn off all the effects

there is a different between Serverlag and Computerlag.
yes for fleetfights you have to turn off all you effects, to lower the amount of grafik that your computer have to load.
but if your flying in empier or your a missioncarebare, you can turn on all effects and run your client in premium grafik, and there shouldt be any kind of "Computerlag".
atm there is a BIG proplem with the code from EvE, i think u read all the perfomance threads, or? (jump 30+ and your computer lags as hell)

Hi, I've got 4G DDR3 RAM, twin GX2s, effects turned off, anti virus from Kapersky. normally I have no lag. But when I get into a big fight I have lag.
Can you give me some ideas on how to fix the lag in the fights. Or can you stop speaking out of your arse, whichever is easier.

OMGOMG! There can also be pudding in your processor, and electrones travel slower through pudding than normal air. And everyone knows that megahurtz are beeing absorbed by pudding, causing you to lose precious CPU cycles!
Seriously though, with 512Mb memory, a 6600GT and windows XP with classic Eve client, this game is still playable without massive lag. Stop talking bull**** if you don't know what you are talking about. |

I have over 3 Gigs of RAM, FYI.
Quote: 1) as i am a programmers friend, Vista consumes 700MB out of 1GB RAM memory! this causes the pc to run slowly(especially in fleet battles)!
I use Windows XP, a simpler, less resource-demanding OS than Vista. ATM it uses less than 10% of the total RAM available. EvE then doubles that amount. Explain to me then, why roughly 2.5 Gigs of RAM are incapapble of preventing lag.
Quote: 2) your PC may not be of the best there are nowadays
True, but I've yet to encounter any piece of software that my PC can't handle due to lack of processing power.
Quote: 3) since EvE online is MMO you are constantly online. As a result the pc may automatically start downloading updates, so as for the antivirus!
I decide when my computer downloads updates, not my computer. It took some doing, but it was worth it.
Quote: 4) a virus may have passed through your antivirus and caused system damage
If a virus managed to inflict system damage on my computer, I would know because I would not be able to run EvE at all.
Quote: 5) the antivirus may have started an automatic scan
I took care of this as well. See point 3.
Quote: 6) your RAM may be broken/corrupted(do a system scan before the pc runs the windows when turned on to find out)
See point 4.
Quote: your graphics card may be outdated! 7) turn off all the effects
Finally, something that may actually help me...except I already tried this last weekend. And no, it didn't work. Classic EvE lags just as much.
My graphics card isn't the latest overpriced circuit board to hit the retail shelves, but it isn't made of cardboard either. It gets the job done, even in more graphics-intensive online games than EvE.
Quote: Don't always haste and blame CCP!
My blames towards CCP in regards to the post-QR lag are founded in careful consideration and observation. I also take the time to check my spelling and ensure that I am using proper grammar when making any (counter)point here. No, English isn't my first language, but I still make the effort.
Note that my blames towards CCP in regards to the above are not of the "CCP SUXX0RZ!!!" kind, despite the matter of the QA department failing to notice that QR actually performed worse than Stackless IO-enabled Empyrean Age did...actually, Stackless IO-disabled Empyrean Age overall performed better than QR does right now, but I digress.
My point is that you're trying to shift the blame from CCP to the players, using points that assume we're dumb as bricks because we're all using Vista. I, for one, just proved to you that the blame does not sit with me...so where else does it sit than with CCP? |

I'd love to take you seriously (actualyl maybe not) but with comments like this
"as i am a programmers friend, Vista consumes 700MB out of 1GB RAM memory!"
I just can't.
Vista uses spare RAM when it is available for other tasks... it may report as using a lot, but that ram is still free and available for other apps to use. You really need to investigate things yourself before taking other peoples word for it. Dae.

CCp developers themselves more than once said most of time the issues are on SERVER side.
Eve is not network heavy. Even a 100 kbps connection is MORE than you need. Most people play with 1 MB or more connections. Most people have more than 2 times free memory than is needed. And most have at least 1 full core of their machine idle when playing game.
9 in 10 cases the issue is NOT on the client computer.
When game was going ok and a patch makes it go #@#! then you may be sure that the thing to blame is NOT the users.

OP makes a valid point. I personally think that its great when people do not do as much as they can to reduce lag. I love loading faster and shooting them in the face.
Also, there is a general issue with lag since the last patch. As far as that is concerned, it is not our fault. CCP needs to deal with it.

I have 4 GB of ram, thank you Can run easely 4 clients at once, with each holding 80-100 FPS in normal circumstances
Quote:
2) your PC may not be of the best there are nowadays
I guess my Quadcore Q6600 2.5 GhZ is heavely allready outdated.
Quote:
3) since EvE online is MMO you are constantly online. As a result the pc may automatically start downloading updates, so as for the antivirus!
Yup as soon i enter a fleet battle, my starts too update everything, and its finshed after the battle.. Sure, ofcourse, i never thought of that..
Quote:
4) a virus may have passed through your antivirus and caused system damage
That must be it, a virus specially tailored for EvE and activates when in a fleet battle.. Since no other game seems too have troubles with it... Even games that uses alot more Bandwith and resources on my PC as EvE does.. Yup, that much be the cause of my lag in fleetbattles....
Quote:
5) the antivirus may have started an automatic scan
Yeah right, my scanner is scans allways in fleetbattles, without any HD activity...
Quote:
6) your RAM may be broken/corrupted(do a system scan before the pc runs the windows when turned on to find out)your graphics card may be outdated!
Yup, it my outdated 9800Gx2 SLI card thats the problem... its allready 6 months old after its release, and idd, Nvidia launched a followup card thats now the fastest card available.. EvE indead needs the most advanced card out there, too run without lag..
Quote:
7) turn off all the effects
That must be it, my PC that can run a single EvE client with 280 FPS anywhere as long there aint a huge fleet battle going on, and crubles too 14 to 40 seconds delay with still 280FSP on the counter, can run games like Fallout3, Farcry2 on ultra high settings without even loosing hardly any FPS, isnt capable of running a few huge + marks in my screen that represent a ship, while fully animated characters and heavely meshed up maps still run flawless..
Quote: Don't always haste and blame CCP!
I dont blame in haste... I do know EvE has a issue, and i do know, you know .... bout PC's or my issue and just rambling utter BS here..
Furthermore, your a friend of a programmer, i'm a Networking specialist, and i KNOW they have a problem that isnt easy solved nor located, best way too find the issue is experimenting, testing and read feedback from users hoping too localize the problem.. I dont need a rocketscientist next to me, too imagine the Clusterpark CCP has running for EvE, and i easely can imagine the nightmare it is too maintain it.. I dont need, nor CCP needs, is some n00b telling its the players fault and its my PC that is broken.. Thank you, for the useless comments that are easely contradicted by anyone with half a clue bout Networking and programming I think i know a bit more bout my System, and what CCP is doing as you do, if i read your post..

That's right. BUT: The client performance issues a lot of players are complaining about at the moment appeared suddenly with QR deployment. I am supposing that most of them didn't change anything with their hardware or other applications and services running on thier computers.
At least IN THIS CASE the issues seem to point rather clearly into the direction of the developer of the expansion.
