Its not about the epeen its about the pew pew. It does eventually become about the e-peen for some people. Others they are sort of dark-side carebears, not actually wanting to take a risk in combat instead going for rich, module heavy mission runners with overkill faction BS blobs to reap an isk living from reselling salvaged modules.

Pirating is about making profit.
PvP is about killing anything you think you can kill that isn't a friend.
The two are often confused, because many people who bring "morality" into a videogame think that anyone who deprives them of their "virtual property" and their "virtual life" or interrupts their "virtual work" is a filthy low-life pirate. My -10 sec status is a result of low-sec PvP. I rarely make any profit off of killing someone, though you do occasionally make a nice score from loot. I live for the shooty-shooty and the lulz, not the piracy, ransom and profit.

Personally I'd like to think I'm in it for the profit rather than simply ruining someone's day. But in practice I ruin a lot of people's days and they don't really care what my motivation is so what difference does it make?

I do like the analogy but for me it's a little different.
I want two things in Eve, money and kills. It's like real life except replace kills with whatever other hobbies and interests I have. The money really does enable the other. Can't get kills if you don't have a ship, which costs money. So the question becomes how to get the money. I could mine. Or trade. But that **** is boring (to me). So I kill. I live to kill and kill to live. Perfect scenario. It's like landing your dream job. Or having a job that is also your hobby.

I never made any money pirating. So for me, it ended up meaning kill anything I can kill.
I think people who fly with a positive sec status covops alt make a lot more money, I just don't have the cash IRL. *shrug*
