Don't think so. As long as it still fires cruises - which it should; the missile type is not the problem, the stupidity of the missile 'fix' is - it will be rather worthless as fire support for nary any sort of stealth team, considering what targets they are likely to hit. People who know what they are doing bring Pilgrims, Razus and Rapiers instead, and even at Recon IV they find themselves with a crapload more utility value, DPS and survivability. That is, if they weren't already doing that.

that is true, but if you are using a black ops it requires a lot of extra fuel to bring in a recon instead

Rockets would be cool IF they could be fired cloaked. :) Cause rockets are so close range the bomber alwayys face risk beeing decloaked and annihilate. Cause rockets have so little damage it would be an insta-killer. Insteed it would be a "chasing the ghost" like gameplay like a covert-op approaching a camped gate.

Torps are too slow and heavies lack the firepower.
I can also name all my cruise missiles Tom for added satisfaction

imho, torps could be the answer.
it's all in the bonuses. Special torp launchers for bombers that pack a clip of 5 torps with 2 sec RoF (at max skills), and a 25% <insert racial damage> dmg bonus per frig level (125% dmg bonus to torps whoooo?). keep slot layout, and add the role bonus of 50% increase in torpedo explosion velocity.
also bring lockbreaker and void bombs into lo-sec, and tbh I would introduce a "stealth" module that would somehow make the bomber hard to lock by anything bigger than a cruiser.
flying with a cloak is covert-y, not stealth-y

And in return you get something that can close with a target undetected, hold it, point it, leech it, jam it. Not to mention something that can go under cover through a gatecamp and set you up with another cyno, work it, make it, move it, makes us... Something harder, better, faster, stronger.

For those purporting using Torpedo's instead, forgive this slight derailment.
I'd personally rather see the development of a "Torpedo Bomber" for that role. Think Assault Frigate with Torpedo launchers and no cloaking capability.
Just a thought.
