CCP: Obviously you realize that this is a problem from the posts here, even though they are few. Perhaps its time that you start working to correct it for us. I am fully prepared to wait a few more months for player owned crap if you could just fix the problems we have now. Fixing these small problems would mean a crapload to everyone that plays. So is said. |

Right, I agree, this lag is bull****. I was in the middle of a kill mission, which was a bit difficult but I was almost finished. Then the game decides to slow down to frame-by-frame... no, more like 0.2 frames a second. It was ridiculous, and I lost my ship and some good named equipment because of it. Fix the random lag... |

CCP doesn't read the known issues forum
someone has to show this thread to them at a CSM because they are to busy playing foosball instead of playing their own game

Edited by: MrJordanIOI on 14/07/2004 10:58:55 Ok
So far we ve had a lot of problems with this game, but no real way to push through our complaints.
All one hears is "stop playing if you dont like it" and other $hite like this. I suggest we find a way to voice our opinion better, unless CCP hears us soon.
Anyone with me ? I m willing to build a site and -given a few ppl help me with a few hours of their time a week - find a way to at least TRY making them listen.
I m thinkin a top list of bugs, with FIX date, state and so on posted on the site. Maybe also a way to find out how many ppl wanna see some things changed by a simple vote and such.
If a site doing constructive critiszm like this exists already, please apologize and point me to it.
Cheers so far, IOI

i doubt that would help. i do think that a mass walkout would show them what people are taking about.
or a login strike. something they will feel, and not have to see.
for example: on a ceartai day, on a ceartain time, make tranquillity be with 10 players logged MAX.
or, i'm sure that even 10 people canceling their subscription would get their attention. im willing to stop my pay for a while just for lagless play later for me and other players.. anybody else? -Orky |

Ok forget the post i posted earlier, i was wrong, CPU/Video Lag is no problem for me, but ****ing hell has it become hard to do anything in eve, im getting sick of watching my sheilds drop drop gone, armor drop drop, and i cant do anything, i cant move, warp, shoot, use sheild boosters, i have to quickly log off before i die, and its getting worse, like today it took about ten minutes before it updated one of my ships name's.... even this forum is buggy like i click reply and it refreshes the page, so i have to clikc it madly 1000 times to get this reply screen up
The lag is getting worse with each patch.

ORC A --a good suggestion - however NOT logging in will be welcome to CCP as it ll put less strain on the servers while we still pay for the subscription. So no option really to "poke em" with that.
Then--cancelling subscription..hmm..yes if we had some 100+ leaving at the same time this may get their attention. But we want all to play this game, so rather no real option again.
Then--In Ultima Online there were player marches and gathering at places to get attention and demonstrate and somesuch, but CCPs policy clearly states that this is not acceptable as you would wantonly put a strain on the servers. Not that I really want to defend their VERY very restrictive policy here, but I try following the rules ;(
http://www.eve-online.com/pnp/banning.asp 1. EXPLOITS
An immediate permanent ban of an account may result if: ... d. A player has engaged in activity that intentionally causes others to lose connection, suffer latency issues (lag) or to crash to desktop (CTD). ...
http://www.eve-online.com/pnp/terms.asp EVE Online TERMS OF SERVICE ... 16. You may not engage in any activity that increases the difficulty and/or expense of CCP in maintaining the EVE Online client, server, web site or other services for the benefit and enjoyment of all its users. ... 25. We reserve the right to ban any user from the game without refund or compensation. ...
So ..as we all agree to these nice rules herein.. I think this is no option either --or some of us would just get banned..
*sigh*

Edited by: Fortior on 15/07/2004 12:07:23 This is not a server side issue, nor is it connection. There have been posts of people who experience this lag with T3-connections. So instead I strongly suspect that it's the fact that EVE renders _all_ ship models in the grid, regardless of whether they're in visible range or not. Having a fleet battle with 150+ ships will bring any comp to its knees. The models, and texturing, in EVE is pretty complex and rendering all of the ships is probably what causes the lag.
A simple solution to this would be that the EVE-client won't render ships unless they are within 30-40k or so. Then you won't be lagged by ships that are 100k away as you are now.
That is if the lag is indeed caused by the client rendering everything. |

Edited by: Sabadagus on 18/07/2004 20:47:00 I have an old system but dont like to upgrade for Eve until I know what are the REAL requirements for enjoyable Eve. I have heard of low end systems doing good and some new hig end systems being bad. That doesnt make sence.
It would be nice if people could list theyre systems and fps (Shift+Contr+Alt+m)so we can see what kind of systems work and which dont. And what in the system is the botleneck.
For example, my system Win XP, 800mHz, 384 MB, Ati 9600SE 128MB, ADSL
.......................WithGUI..........NoGUI In station.............20...............100 Fightin NPC in belt....2-7..............2-12 PvP....................no way...........no way
fps is in my case not affected by adjusting the graphic detail, screen resolution or any other factors I have tryed.

I got the shiiite lagged out of me In a2 wasnt even a fleet battle 1 raven 1 apoc and 2 moas lagged my apoc to death I couldnt even double click jump out in my pod now I am not sure wither this is a missile issue or a gate issue as the CA boys were going backwards and forwards through the gates (but I am pretty sure it was just to keepl being cloaked) but as soon as the missiles opened up all hell broke loose fps wise

I've lost two ships due to lag issues, as in the screen suddenly freezing and nothing happening, then my ship moving forwards really fast as six missiles exploded near me. Oh yes, that was fun
I think the worse time was when it lagged while I was being podded, at which point I could still see my ship despite floating in a pod. My ship took a few seconds to blow up before my pod warped. Weird and very annoying.
