This does not come as a surprise to any of the vets but I thought it should be mentioned that when making your deposits to eBank you should make sure that it is EBANK RICDIC (That is R-I-C-D-I-C) to who you transfer your funds.
Currently there are two spoofs active:
EBANK RICDC (ToonID#573166495) (This one even comes with a corp and bio!)
EBANK Ridic (ToonID#1148345663)
Both of these toons are about a week old and of course they've tried cloning the avatar as well. Anyone else feel like petitioning them as well please feel free to add in your complaint.
Remember, deposit with Ebank Ricdic of Eve-Tech Savings n Loans [EBANK]

We might add that impersonation is against the EULA. Don't be surprised if you get a ban for it.

And from conversations with CCP it isn't just the faked EBANK char that gets a ban |

Guys, I can appreciate your frustration, but please stop spreading this bull**** about bans for impersonation. You get a warning, just like with every other non-serious EULA violation. And a ban for repeated attempts.
Trying to stop future attempts by lying about the consequences isn't acceptable.

Actually it was advised during a previous petition where I asked if there was a way to stop this repeatedly occurring it was advised that the actual account can be banned. They obviously didn't go into detail as it was a response to me asking what repercussions these people actually get.
Sorry if you didn't like the answer Ray. |

And I'm sure you can see that logically that interprets to repeat offences by the same account.

It's against the EULA and is officially a bannable offense. Whether or not you'll get banned for doing it once is questionable but I am familiar with someone's impersonation attempts resulting not just in all of the ISK being returned putting their main (to whom it was transferred) into a negative balance but the offending account getting a temporary ban.
The point is, don't do it because at the end of the day you'll loose whatever ISK you may have impersonated your way into, that should be reason enough.

Relax guys.
This was petitioned almost as soon as Rattus made us aware of it four days ago. It's in CCP's hands. If anyone's fallen foul, the ISK will be returned to you when CCP decide to process the ticket and they can make doubly sure they send it to 'EBANK Ricdic'.
And thanks Shar for making it plainly obvious... I guess it's necessary given MD's newfound fame near the top of the forum index (sigh).

You know, that's the thing Mr H, if people aren't careful about reading contracts:
Eg: Raven Navy Issue in the description when the item list says Raven.
CCP doesn't hold their hand when they lose their isk because they couldn't bother to read the fine detail.
Now, if someone had sent isk to a fraudster who scams by taking letters out, moving letters around in Ricdic's name then why should CCP hold their hand and return their isk?

Because it's one of the only scams against the EULA since EVE was created, and everyone knows it's both not acceptable and that you can eventually get banned for it. Except for the nubs, of course. No ones cares if it should or shouldn't be in the EULA< but we play by CCP's rules, and this is one of the oldest. I don't see why these discussions even come up.

I am trying to find this rule in the EULA and TOS but can't seem to locate it, can you link me please.

So if a person just has a close name does that trigger this rule, or do they have to actually promote themselves as the other person?

A person can have a close name, but if the name was picked purely to scam people then its against the rule and can be banned for that.
In this case, not only the person picked a similar name, but also created a corporation named "EBANKING"

Thanks for the info Brock.
One last question before i go. What if this person actually sent the people shares and acted like a real bank...would it still be a scam and against the eula?
P.s. I think this is a poor way to scam and i have no issues with c.c.p. waving a banstick at them if they indeed break the rules.

I don't actually know but from what everybody has said, they get their money back and their account is removed. I haven't heard of a ban since CCP doesn't disclose that particular information.
Yes it's a poor scam, a lot of scam in the game are not original and you'd have to be pretty stupid to fall for those scams.

IN this particular case, yes. This is not some sort of accidental choice here. Like someone going with the name Shar Tigra and there is some confusion issues here. Further, in this case it wasn't like they named themselves Ebank CharlieJohnson. It was quite specifically targeted misrepresentation of the primary toon where all isk bottlenecks even including nearly identical avatar pictures. Debate or deduce loopholes all you like, this was quite clearly (as the dozens of others before it) an attempt at fraud. The kind that breaches the EULA/TOS.
