Mouse, no. Keyboard, yes. The keyboard tends not to register keystrokes. Makes buying/selling stuff dangerous. This was an issue for me several patches ago and now it is back. Typical CCP quality.

I have a problem with keystrokes not being sent to the text field and the text I type not being injected into the general chat window.
This will work for a while, then I lose the ability, after a while, it comes back.
Rather annoying.

Same issue, particularly with voice enabled. turning off voice helps.

Keyboard problems. Typing extremely difficult.
*Many* missed keystrokes.
Some keys stop working completely no matter how many times you hit them.
Return in chat often doesn't enter message. It goes to next line in entry field.

It has been very difficult to type. At first i dismissed this as being a hardward problem with my mac. There is a crack forming on the board. But, when I tried a different app on Friday, I realized it is a software issue with eve. Please fix this soon CCP!

Same issue here. Lots of missed keystrokes, and no keyboard when using voice..
This is having a huge effect on the way i play my game. I use the linkage in chat windows a lot for setting destinations on the fly, and even worse, using anything like a jump bridge is impossible since i cant even stick a password in to use new ones...
Please fix fast CCP..

Since the patch, i have been unable to use the keyboard when EVE voice is activated. I've noticed that eve voice cuts out when docking and undocking. Often important communications can be missed. Come on EVE lets get this problem fixed!

TeamSpeex doesn't have this problem so I suggest using that one if possible for the time being. Stop whining. |

This, for me too. At first I thought my trusty old keyboard was finally gummed up enough to give up the ghost, but it works just fine everywhere else.
It works kind-of-fine in EVE (but there are missed keypresses even under normal operation), and I might as well disconnect the keyboard once EVE Voice is activated for all the use it is. Even without voice enabled (but certainly even more when it is), I get a lot of stuck-meta-key issues (shift, ctrl, ⌘, ⌥), so out of nowhere, clicking objects in space might lock them up or move the camera over there; scrolling up or down no longer zooms the camera but moves you to the starmap; clicking modules overheats them rather than activate them, etc. etc. etc.
So my guess is that the OP's mouse issues are just an extension of the keyboard going haywire and changing what various mouse actions mean to the game.
No sig for me, thankyouverymuch. |

Unfortunately, I have the same problem with my keyboard. And if my mouse connects via my keyboard usb, it has a problem as well. So now, I connect my mouse direct to my CPU and avoid using the keyboard (including F1 F2)...
Please fix this.

Same problems. Can type for some time then eventually degrades to italics, underlining and then completely unresponsive. I think the problem is unrelated to voice as i didn't start using voice 'til the keyboard problem started.

ditto... its really weird... and then the trackpad started doing oddities.
Course the new Macbooks have the multi-touch and that could confuse the heck out of the game.
I was thinking about getting an external keyboard... but its inconsistent.

Well i don't have multitouch and i'm using tiger (white imac x1600), so i don't think the multitouch is a key element. Stop whining. |

<.< Course its not... duh.... you don't have one.
But I DO...
And when you start sending commands with more than one finger on the multi-touch-track pad and it starts going wacko... its an issue.
Namely right click/zoom/rotate gets to be a bit interesting.
It's like they assumed you'd have a proper mouse as opposed to the elusive tendency to emphasize that one mouse button is all the world needs on a mac.
That's not an invitation to a mouse fight : O P

Sidenote, but why not. I use a wacom tablet all the time (intuos3 A4) and with Eve i've never gotten any problems, but in CoD4 the mouse goes bonkers. It's erratic and you can't control it all. Like whirpool of doom.
This probably relates to the pressurepoints in the tablet, but basically this could be the same thing. Multiple commands from a single source. Stop whining. |

Oh thank god I thought this was only me. Yes I am having the same problems.
- Keystrokes in chat are most of the time not registered - Pressing Enter usually just starts another line - When pressing the F1 - F8 buttons to activate weapons, they either do nothing, or say that I am trying to Lock the Overload settings. - Using ctrl + mouse click to target something results in a message box appearing, same that I am not in their fleet (wtf?) - Certain modules will turn themselves off after I have activated them using the keyboard, but when I use the mouse to select them, it says "an attempt is underway to activate this module"
Has made Eve unplayable on my main desktop iMac, and all I can do on my low spec laptop is mine.

I am glad it's not just me, my keyboard works fine in all my other programs, however, now in Eve I can't even type in how many items I wish to buy if it's beyond one... and typing to corp mates has become impossible. I have to press the key and wait for the letter to appear, sometimes two of the letters appear, sometimes nothing happens. It's a good thing I am working on my mining atm.
My mouse works just fine, so I know it's not lag, and voice chat still works as well.
Is there a work around for this until it can be patched?

Well the only somewhat success has come from disabling the Eve Voice, but if that ain't working...then the ball is pretty much at CCP's hands. They aren't sharing any info either so the playerbase"minidevs" are stuck too. Stop whining. |

Yea same keyboard problems... I don't know if it does the same when I log into audio chat because the typing functions stop working long before I can enter audio chat.
No mouse problems.

Would like to see a CCP reply to this to say that they are doing something about it, or at least, that they have acknowledged the problem.

CCP has acknowledged the problem here: Linkage
Originally by: CCP Whisper We've logged this issue and are looking into the possible cause. Seems to either cut off keyboard input altogether or impose extreme delays between keystrokes. No eta on a fix yet but we are looking into this.
I am betting this problem will be fixed in the next patch at which time they will replace this problem with two new equally annoying bugs. At CCP, this is called progress.

I was able to get the keyboard problem to mostly go away by turning graphics features way down (i.e. turn off turret and missile effects, etc).
I also noticed that the keyboard problem is worse in high-lag situations like fights.
I surmise that the problem is a "polling problem" in that the software is not polling the keyboard frequently enough, thus causing a large number of data dropouts.
I too wish that CCP would deign to actually acknowledge the problem, giving an ETR, or, you know, give any response at all. HELLO???????? IS THIS THING ON????

With all the whining on the forums about this bug... I would think they actually write into the patch notes if it's fixed. Even for only making the list look longer. So I seriously doubt it's fixed.
I really can't understand the lack of info/feedback from CCP on a issue that is pretty much crucial. It's not like we need the keyboard to play the game... and I'm getting problems with the keyboard even with Voice disabled. So basically I don't have a important fleet-control tool, and I don't have a important tool to control the game (keyboard!).
I just hope they fix this BEFORE my Christmas vacation, but seeing the patch notes and yet again the lack of communication on the matter... Stop whining. |

I'm starting to think alot of the troubles we see has nothing to do with the client...
Checking the Console log's... which is a black art to most people who are gaming on a mac... reveals that the client is most likely a patched windows classic version.
AS the whole thing runs in WINE....
There's also a great deal of communications taking place from the client to "Transgaming" or some such servers over the internet.
SOMEONES getting feedback at mass amounts of data...
This client is not a true mac client by any means people.... and this... is disturbing.
I'm curious as to what CCP thinks of this little bit of information.
If this was a true mac client... it wouldn't be using a "Virtual" package to run in... now would it?
Oops... hope i didn't open a can of worms.
This may be something entirely different... then what we would think it to be.

I thought it was just me!
I'm experiencing the keyboard missed keys while typing as well. It seems that I have to type very slowly or I end up looking like a ******ed first grader. This happens across more than one mac I use.
And to the poser above me, everyone knows that. Transgaming makes linux / mac wrappers for windows games and CCP is one of their clients.
