Maller Bonus is down to 2,5%
That means 12,5% Armor Bonus on 0% Resistance, 6,25% on 50% etc on lvl 5. The Bonus also lowers the effect of Platings. Look at the natural enemy, the Rupture. it has a 25% Damage and 25% RoF Bonus on level 5. Maller has 5 Turrets, nothing else. Rupture now has 4(->5) Turrets with +25% RoF and two more Launchers.
The Maller has in now way enough grid to eqip a full array of decent Medium Beams (heavy pulse/beam), and tanking on Cruiser level is patetic... The Rupture has not enough for 720mm, but for 650mmm and heavy launchers. So Rupture can eqip all damagetypes and bash the maller which is stuck to EM/therm damage.
Conclusion: Maller shredded by Rupture.

My maller is fine... I dont know what your problem is :)
Setup1:
5x 425 auto cannons
1 10mn MWD
1 Web or scram
1 Med shield booster II
2 Dmg mods
err... i forgot lmao.. i think it was 3 pwr diags
Setup2:
5x Heavy Pulse
3x whatever the hell you want (Usually cap chargers)
1x Power Diag
5x tech 2 dmg mods.
Setup1 Can Tackle most everything, except for a thorax using blasters
Setup2 Can own a thorax in under 20 seconds. But not a moa shield tanking :)
You just have to think outside the box, you guys want an uber gun ship with uber tanking, it wont happen deal with it.

Maullers are unable to fit all the big guns, true, buy thats not the only ship. My Crusader had the same problem. 4 turret slots made it look good, buy it couldnt fit the 4 medium beam lasers i wanted, and it too has no drone bay or missile rack. I warped in on my NPC kill mission, and hit a swarm of 6 frigates with missile racks. surfice to say I didn't even have time to run before the alphastrike turned me to vapour. To solve both problems, either;
1) Increase its Armour or damage resistance to compensate
2) Increase its grid, or give it a ship bonus of -X% powergrid requirements for Lasers.

Hama, the problem is that neither of your setups have any defense against jamming, and the second setup would get owned by a frig.
If a thorax gets jammed he can drop drones. If a rupture/moa/bb/caracal gets jammed it can use FoF's. All you can do on a maller is use backup arrays, but that still doesn't protect you at all from sensor dampening. Even the first setup would probably fall to some frigs. The maller is an ok gunship, but is definitely the least versatile of the top end cruisers.

Fine then, I was answering to the people *****ing about it not being a heavy gunboat. It can do insane amounts of dmg, just have a frig to help you i guess
